I don't know how you could possibly not like the WM12 iron man match. The actual technical wrestling was better than anything HHH has ever done, the buildup was phenomenal, and the booking was captivatiing. No one thought that they'd go into a "60 minute, whoever gets the most falls" match, and have NO falls, so every single near fall had me on the edge of my seat. The spot where Shawn creamed the ring announcer was awesome. The spot near the end where Bret hooked the sharpshooter was awesome. The sequence near the end where Shawn hit the elbow, kip up, and called for the chin music was awesome. Not to mention it ended more or less clean (although I don't like the way Monsoon re-started the match). What was memorable about the HHH/Rock match? The return of the Undertaker? The interference of EVERYONE? Or was it the long ass headlocks?

Andrew, I disagree, that's not how business is supposed to work, and is somewhat contradictory to what the WWE's done in the past. When the WWE has been at it's best from the mid-late 90's into early 2001, they had so many different guys at the top card willing to put others over. Bret, Shawn, Diesel, Austin, Foley, Rock, Angle, etc. and because of that variety at the top card and how over all of those guys were and their willingness to put others over that kept ratings high. Taker and HHH were also up there but less-willing, or unwilling, to put other guys over.

I equate the way HHH's situation should have been handled with Undertaker. Undertaker's been in the Fed, what, 11 or 12 years and has been in the upper-midcard or top card that entire time, and yet, he's only had a grand total of 3 title runs, all of which were fairly short if I remember corrrectly. Why? Because Taker, despite being pretty popular, never really drew that much money or ratings, and in the ring, never sold moves much or put people over, squashing them quite frequently in the process. Because of that, Vince had the sense to keep him from being a regular champion and the focus of the company.

HHH is essentially the same now and has been since his comeback 19 months ago. He's still pretty popular but not nearly as much as he used to be pre-injury, he's not making the company money or bringing in the ratings, and he's holding back emerging talent that would probably help the WWE get out of this rut sooner. Under normal circumstances, I think Vince would keep HHH in the same position Taker is in, perpetual upper-mid or top card but seldomly champ and not the focus of the promotion. But he's not. Why? Because HHH is banging his only daughter and will soon be his son-in-law, and that gives a lot of extra weight to throw around in the company.

And this is where our difference in opinion splits up. You hold Vince and the WWE responsible because their the parent company and the bosses and they are the ones that need to keep a lasso around guys like HHH to keep them from exercising too much power and influence to the detriment of the company. I agree with you that Vince and WWE is partially at fault, but I believe that most of the blame falls on HHH himself because I believe just because the power is there he shouldn't be taking advantage of and abusing it the way he has. I'm sure there have been times where guys like Bret, Shawn, Austin, and Rock, who have all at one time or another the past 7 or 8 years been in a position to seize the reigns of power like HHH has but didn't, and because they didn't and instead shared the power, the company flourished and they all managed to stay on top, Bret's falling out with Vince notwithstanding, until age and injury (or in Rock's case, Hollywood) drove them to abandon those positions. Trips has seized it and the company went steadily downhill and has stayed there.

We're both pretty adamant in our perspectives despite trying for pages upon pages of trying to change the other person's mind and pointing out flaws in the argument. We're getting nowhere with this man. I could be right. You could be right. We both could be right. Or we both could be wrong. I guess it's just in the eye of the beholder. So let's just stop now and call this thing an impasse or a draw.

Oh, and you HAVE been using different analogies since the beginning, man, so don't tell me you haven't. Nothing wrong with using different examples to try and get your point across, bro ;)

Smackdown was simply amazing tonight. Nothing bad on the show, barring some of the APA stuff, and even that was tolerable. The main event was great, the Benoit/Rhyno/Eddie stuff was off the charts, and Kidman and Rey were exciting. Hell, Billy Gunn did all sorts of nice stuff tonight as well, his slam to Rock Bottom was nice, a brief change from the move D'Lo, and now Rosey, did, but a welcome change to it.

Andrew, just because "That's business." doesn't make it right. And I have done business, and I've kept things fair, honest, and straight up. Just because there is a lot of corruption in American society, and, apparently, in the WWE too, doesn't mean we should be indifferent with it. You treat corruption and unfairness with apathy (or approval like you seem to be doing), and you breed even more. That may be cool with you, but I prefer to root it out instead.

Is it a naive way of looking at things? Perhaps. But I am convinced it's the RIGHT way to look at things. If you disagree, that's fine, bro. If you're ok with the way HHH does "business", that's fine man. If you can justify it to yourself, that's cool. But don't tell me I have to accept that way of thinking, because it is and always will be WRONG in my eyes.

Sorry, Tobal, a couple of posts back at the top of this page I was trying to rap up the discussion with Andrew already since we've been getting nowhere, and hoped he'd feel the same. His next response indicated to me he wasn't quite ready to just drop the discussion yet, so on it goes. I'm pretty sure it's futile at this point for me to convince him of my point of view and he's not going to convince me with his, but if he wants to continue the discussion then I am most definitely game.

Excellent episode of Smackdown tonight, one of the best in quite some time. The Mysterio & Kidman/Hardy & Moore, Guerrero/Rhyno, and Show, Haas, & Benjamin/Angle, Lesnar, Gowen matches were all great. The promos cut by Eddie/Benoit and Cena in that burning pentagram were all awesome, and really hyped their matches for the PPV.

I think it's about time to start a prediction thread :D

That's actually not too bad a casting choice if the movie actually comes together. Goldberg really looks the part and could probably also play it well. It's not like Nappa was an especially dramatic character by any stretch of the imagination, he was just a big, bald Saiyan who beat on the weaker members of the Z Force when he and Vegeta originally went to Earth.

First of all, man, part of the world does indeed think your right, whether that's the majority or the minority is up for debate, probably the majority the way things have been going. But there are still people out there who agree with my point of view, doing things fair and straight up instead of doing whatever they want/have to do to get ahead. Honestly, I don't know if you're insulting or praising Benoit, but that's besides the point.

As far as me being "l33t" for liking Michaels and Hart, I disagree. There are LOTS of people who loved Michaels and Hart. The "l33t" kids are the ones I remember from high school/middle school. You know the ones: "OMG everyone loves Abercrombie, so I hate it!" "OMG everyone loves Pearl Jam, so I hate them" "OMG I used to like South Park, but now it's too POPULAR". "OMG Goldberg is cool just because everyone else hates him".

I backed up my reasons for liking the Bret/Shawn iron man match over the HHH/Rock one. Where's your support? And as far as Goldberg having "nary a bad match", I'd say that the only good/memorable match Goldberg ever had was against DDP. I also really enjoied his match against Regal, 'cause Regal made him look like the chump he is. I wonder if he threw a temper tantrum afterwards. The man is worse than Christian. He was in some celebrity car race, and when he couldn't win, he banged on the gearshift so hard, he broke his hand and was out of action for 3 months. (This happened about a year or so ago, just prior to him working some dates in Japan.).

And you can't say that this is the "Greatest feud in 20 years" until it actually happens. It might have potential (although I disagree with that) but so did WCW vs WWF vs ECW, and look how that turned out.

The Invasion could have, and should have, been the greatest wrestling angle of all-time. Instead, it wasn't. It was turned into utter shit due to poor booking, and Vince being too cheap to buy people out of their AOL-Time Warner contracts that could have actually drawn money. There are a few other reasons as well, but I'm not going to list them all.

That was a classic, wasn't it? So were all 150+ matches in Goldberg's win streak. He was so enthralling at the time that I even downloaded illegal bootlegs of the house show matches just so I could have a copy of every match he was in.

Yeah, that was a hell of a bladejob Vince did. Or did the chair REALLY bust him open like that? Hard to tell. Either way it looked sick.

AWESOME PPV tonight, absolutely, positively the best of the year and the best the WWE has done in some time. Three great and two good matches meant quality just about all-around.

POSITIVES:

Guerrero/Benoit delivered again, as usual. Mebbe with all the ref bumps at the end it was getting a little silly but I actually dug Eddie's antics, I was laughing my freaking arse off.

TWGTT/Mysterio & Kidman was match of the night, awesome flow except one small missed spot by Rey. The match had such kinetic energy the entire 15 minutes it went and really made the show. Great wrestling and cool spots.

Cena/Undertaker was suprisingly watchable, and definitely one of the best Taker's done in awhile, even if the end of it irritated the hell out of me, though it really didn't suprise me in the least.

Vince/Gowen was pretty watchable and both of them took some pretty good bumps. Vince really got cut deep (I still can't tell if it was a blade or if Zach really busted him open with the dropkick). Finished suprised me, though, though for sure Zach would go over.

And finally the Lesnar/Angle/Show main event really delivered. Show put a lot of effort into it, and I loved the psychology of Lesnar and Angle initially working together buddy-buddy, then gradually turning against one another. Show was involved in some pretty cool spots like the powerbomb off the top by Lesnar and Olympic Slam by Angle through that table. Though I honestly thought Lesnar would win and he would drop the belt next month at SS to Angle, when Angle pinned him cleanly it suprised the living hell out of me. Not often the WWE can suprise me like that anymore :)

NEGATIVES:

Only a couple here. The APA Barroom brawl and Sable/Steph match were both predictably brutal. But they were setup perfectly in-between the good and great matches to give the crowd a breather and me a bathroom break.

And it still irritated me that Taker essentially beat Cena cleanly twice. Really, he squashes Cena the first part of the match and would've pinned him cleanly if he didn't pull him up. He did a good job selling Cena's offense the rest of the match, but still ended up pinning him cleanly anyway.

BTW, the way he beat Cena was a CARBON-COPY of the way he beat Booker T during WCW/ECW Invasion in 2001. Booker was hammering him on the top rope, got cocky, then got powerbombed and pinned cleanly. It pissed me off then and it pisses me off now. This better lead to a rematch at SS where Cena just absolutely destroys Taker, but I still think they should've put him over regardless.

All in all, great PPV, best I've seen out of the WWE in ages. 3 great and 2 good matches easily outweigh the 2 poor ones. I give the PPV overall a 9 out of 10, supremely entertaining with lots of great action.

You know what you should try sometime?

If your TV lets you, switch to SAP (spanish) whenever someone is about to go through the Spanish announcers' table. It's great.

I think they at least did one thing right, though. After the match was over Cena was still standing, looked strong, and giving Taker the Evil Eye from the ramp. In the ring, Taker was really selling the "internal injuries" and had a hard as hell time getting up and overall looked like crap, with the bloody mouth and really looked worn out. I think that pretty much guarantees the feud will continue. When he beat Booker like that in 2001 he acted afterwards like he hadn't even broken a sweat, here he looked like he had the tar beaten out of him (which he did).

If any one has clips of Cean's raps, it would be greatly appreciated. Smackdown doesnt get show until 11 here, thats lame.

I wish I saw this PPV. I heard the main event was really well thought and fleshed out.

Raw isn't over yet but I just wanna make the comment the Molly Holly is hot (nice trunk and rack) and she probably has the most talent out of the divas.

Raw was fantastic, barring the tag match with La Resistance. Kane's gimmick rules.

i always expect great things when shane comes back.

Pretty good RAW. I don't like Nash, I think he looks like an old foggie, but I didn't watch most of it anyway.

Yeah, Andrew, you really need to see this PPV, it's definitely the best of the year and the best overall the WWE's put on in a LONG friggin' time. It'd definitely be worth ordering a replay on cable or buying the DVD when it came out.

Raw was decent tonight. The opening match between Steiner & Booker/Test & Christian was solid and the crowd was hot for it. Their booking Goldberg right with the WCW-style knock on door with entrance and squash of Richards.

They continue to make Kane out as a crazy-ass monster which is awesome. And Shane showing up to avenge his momma was hilarious and unexpected. If they have to have a McMahon involved in things like this, at least they picked the right one with Shane.

Only thing that really annoyed me was Nash limping out to the ring to save Shawn and beating on Jericho almost their entire match. Really, it was just embarassing to watch and I feel sorry that Jericho actually had to go through all that nonesense.

I'm planning on buying it on DVD. I have RR '03 on DVD for the Benoit - Angle match. They discontinue everything after a year so if there's anything of worth I want, I pick it up when it comes out.

It's only like 13 bucks for me with a discount. So it's not like a real DVD or anything.

I can't believe WWE didn't capitalize on that ovation for Benoit the next night. They didn't capitalize on it with Eddy either, but with the crowd reaction he's been recieving recently, there's no way they can ignore it for much longer.

I'll definitely be sure to pick up Vengeance on DVD, getting it for nearly half the price, with a huge increase in video quality is worth the three-four month wait.

wow and i thought nash was bad. seriously tho, nash is a friggin joke. that match on raw was hillarious. walk slowly in to the ring, stand in the center and punch and kick. the fact that hes not dying his hair anymore makes him look even worse.

i just hope the SS match with HHH/Goldberg is better than their last when Bill tried to sell that arm injury and speared HHH like 4 times. that match was HORRIBLE.

I just don't like that big bump on his face. When he tries to be angry it makes him look like a clown.

Yeah, but unlike most wrestlers, HHH tends to work through his injuries if he can. That's why he comes to the ring bandaged up like a mummy half the time.

Maybe the internet people are just in 'da nile then. (get it?! GET IT!? THE MUMMY THEME!!?! hehe)

Aside from the stupid jokes, I must say that Triple H should probably allow somebody else to hold the strap while he becomes more stable, but the fact that he works through the pain when some others wouldn't makes him worthy.

It's like Brock and Angle or Big Show. They passed the belt, then his quest was to regain it. It gave us a better wrestling main event in the end. The only problem I see is that nobody on RAW can effectively take his place and 'slow down the wrestling style' like WWE wants.

RVDs entertaining, but he's hardly a good all around wrestler. Booker T is, to be quite frank, boring as hell. Jericho is the only one who I could see stepping up, but that's not likely because the WWE doesn't seem to like pushing him.

Good episode of Smackdown tonight. Benjamin/Mysterio was good, always love the talented mat-wrestler/high-flyer matchup, their some of my favorites. The Tajiri/Guerrero match was a great free TV match, loved how Eddie tried to get out of it after getting misted before it started, saying he was blind. "No man I can't see those three fingers." I was LMAO :lol:

It's scary just how incredibly intense Benoit was when he freaking killed Doink. Seriously, the guy gets himself over by just being that fiery. Nice that Undertaker was absent, selling the "internal injuries" he suffered in the Cena match.

And the more I see it, the more it looks like their gonna be trying to turn Brock the heel instead of Angle again. Angle's been more over as a face it seems lately, and Brock looks like he's gonna be the agressor in their forthcoming feud.

I haven't more than a few minutes of rassilin in the last month, maybe I'll watch the recap shows this weekend.

SmackDown was fantastic, Rey/Shelton was great, Benoit vs. DinsDoink was a nice little squash, and the Gowen-Moore match showed that Gowen can be an actual wrestler, instead of a novelty act.

The coroner of Cobb County, Ga finally released the official cause of death for Miss Elizabeth, and it's no big suprise...

Raw was okay tonight, the RVD-Y2J match was great, and I'm glad they're going to use the Elimination Chamber as a way to get around HHH's groin injury. Plus, it adds some genuine intrigue as to who will actually win.

Not a very good episode of RAW tonight, outside of the RVD/Jericho match which was very good. Most of the matches outside of that were pretty mediocre. Glad they decided to try the Elimination Chamber idea again, with HHH's injury his match with Goldberg at Summerslam would've been an absolute disaster. And I agree with Jeremy, because of the injury it'll be interesting to see who winds up with the belt.

I also shudder to think what Jericho will look like shaved. I REALLY hope Nash is willing to do the right thing with that, but I'm skeptical. Mebbe Jericho will lose the hair match but win the Elmination Chamber match?.....nahhhhh, that's just wishful thinking :)

Both of them won't look the same, but Nash is old, old guys shouldn't have long hair. I can see Jericho with short hair, but I don't think he'll look good. Maybe it's just the change I'll get used to. Either way I don't really care, but a match between them, hair for hair, would be great.

I thought the ending to RAW was very good. Shane McMahon could be a wrestler for all I care, because he's thoroughly entertaining. (he looks like he has been getting better)

I know Nash is, so then Jericho is. Triple H and Goldberg. That's 4, so Kane? and who else... hmmm... RVD? That's my guess.

yeah shane really puts on a good show. he looks a lot thinner than last time we saw him. he looked like a huge cream puff last time.

Wow, zero talk of Smackdown and it's 2 AM.... oh well, I caught the end of it, it was as the spoilers said (obviously). As I said, it was no surprise, so it wasn't all that great to watch.

Sorry, Tobal, was up late watching "The Ring" after Smackdown was over. Good stuff, sorry I missed it in the theatres.

Excellent episode of Smackdown tonight. The Benoit/Guerrero, Tajiri & Benoit/Guerrero & Rhyno, Cena/Taker, and Haas/Mysterio matches were all good, fairly long matches with great action. A little disappointed A-Train had to do a run-in in order for Cena to get a win but at least he didn't get outright beaten again like at Vengeance. The climb to the top's gonna be arduous for that guy...

And I'm a big fan of Monster Heel Brock going completely f-ing nuts! :D Seriously, he was a freaking monster when he turned, he does the psycho-smile thing even better than de-masked Kane does, and was throwing Angle around like a pinball in the cage. Kurt continues to take some sick bumps, even post-neck surgery. Their 2nd feud should be even more awesome than the first with the heel/face roles reversed this time around.
