That just shows you how slow the wrestling discussion is getting if we have to resort to who we would bang.Quote:

My cable is out now, but during Smackdown, it was still hanging on by a thread. I got to see it (or at least, half of it) but it looked like I was watching through old-fashioned bunny ears.
Anyone know Brock got his 5th fall? I was channel surfing during the commercial, and then when I came back I noticed he had gone up one more fall. Shit like that really gets me riled up.Quote:

They used to put commercials during matches back in the early 90s, then stopped doing it. In the past couple of years though, 2003 especially, the practice has become far too common. I was amazed at how few commercial breaks were shown during the match. Hopefully, WWE will have an Iron Man compilation DVD set, like their upcoming cage match one, with this match unedited in it.
Smackdown was good. The Iron Man match was great, though I was dissapointed that Angle's title reign was cut short, I would have liked him to have heald on to the title a little longer. Angle giving Brock the F5 into the ring post was great.
I was more into Eddy as a singles wrestler. When he did that double take down off the top rope on Benjamin and Hass I was really impressed. But now Chavo's back and he's talking about "Grandma Gurrerro" again. Go the fuck away, Chavo. Let Eddy enjoy the biggest solo push of his career.
I might run over to the Orton/Cena autograph signing near my house tomorrow, but only if the crowd isn't too bad. I'm not wasting my entire afternoon for a handshake and a scribbled signature. If I do go I'll post pics.
Bah, I waited five hours in a line during a car show for a Mick Foley autograph the day after he became Cactus Jack again before No Way Out 2000. It was worth it. Also waited in line for two hours for a signature from the Smoking Gunns.

Macho Man bombs at his concert!
i always wondered what they did during the breaks. like sometimes they actually show it but other times it seems like when the break is over the wrestlers are in the exact same spot/situation they weer in beforehand. makes me think they just all stand around picking their asses until the cameras come back on.Quote:

Nope, Goldberg went over clean. That was a cute smark moment though.
What exactly happened?

That was a terrible PPV.
Goldberg basically no-sold a sledgehammer shot (well, he sold it for a second or two, maybe), Speared and Jackhammered HHH and pinned him. Goldy's press slam on HHH was pretty impressive, Trips is a big guy to do that to.
And yeah, the PPV was pretty bad. Van Dam is becomming the next Brooklyn Brawler. I don't think I've ever seen anyone so misused.
Thank you Dolemite for a real answer instead of what omfgninjas was giving me. I figured I'd ask here so I didn't have to read through a lot of garbage on sites with 5000 popups, when I could just go here and get a little summary like was given.
Still, Tobal, you have thousands of wrestling sites out there and all of them say the same thing every day.
I didn't see the PPV. I forgot all about it and I'm glad I didn't see it. It would've been nice to see Triple H lose the title since I've seen his reign. Almost all of it, anyway.
Oh well.
Well, Dolemite helped me out, did what I needed, and I didn't have to go since most of those wrestling sites get too technical about using "hip smart terms" and I don't like accidentally reading something that's a spoiler.
bad thing to say in this thread.......believe me, i know.Quote:

i love the assholes in this thread. brings out tnl's best. anyway, who's sick of jr and the king loosing their jobs only to get them back a week later at least once a month? the career matches just dont have that lasting appeal anymore.
Coach has been playing a heel as of late, but when he's doing commentary he is just plain ole coach, not the Evil Coach we have seen before. So I don't think the current announce team is too exciting. As far JR being in a match, that is part of the WWE's probelms as they give way too much time to non wrestlers. Stips don't mean much anyways these days. JR might not even be booked to win.
I'm actually looking forward to the Christan vs RVD Ladder match next week.
what do you mean this thread? If anything AFX and ninjas help the board become less uptight. Most of the members are anal, if anything.
So Goldberg no-sold a sledge hammer blow? It feels weird saying that this is exactly how he should be handled. goldbergs character is a monster.
If JR and King get their jobs back next week, which I'm sure they will, I'll be pissed off to no end. That whole feud wasted so much TV time, and to have it all build to effectively nothing... ugh... I'm not even going to comment on how AFX/Ninjas' "help" this board.
I'm just going to move on now and apprecaite people like Dragonmaster Dyne and Dolemite.
I know we've gone over this before and I really don't want to belabor the point, but your advocacy of Goldberg no-selling a sledgehammer blow of all things leaves me dumbfounded. If he won't sell sledgehammer blows from HHH, why sell anyone's finisher? Hell, why sell anything? Let's just have everyone job to Bill because he's a "monster"! Bill, go ahead and potato everyone because your monster persona demands it! Again, Bill is no more a monster than Brock, especially now, and I still see Brock selling quite convincingly.Quote:

im a goldberg fan i guess and the only thing i ever see him remotely selling is shoulder injuries during matches. i mean really. can anybody remember a match with him (especially him and HHH) where he didnt get a gimpy shoulder during the fight? i didnt get to see the ppv but i saw he did it on RAW of course spearing the stairs....
Belee dat!
Hahaha, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat.
Yup, folks, it's official- the dream match you all have been waiting for has been announced at this week's Smackdown tapings for the WWE No Mercy PPV. The match that will cause the wrestling world to "implode", as Red Cloak would put it...possibly the greatest match of ALL TIME...honestly, folks, this may be the PPV that makes WWE "hot" again with today's youth...
Stephanie McMahon Vs. Vince McMahon in an "I Quit" match...seriously.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yuck:

I figured you were talking about an old school match. :)
Anyone else notice that Mark Henry is being booked as more of a "monster" than Goldberg?
Sadly, yes. He should really use Earthquake's variant of the fall forward slam, as it looked more devestating. His version is the same version that wouldn't even give Jeff Hardy a two count, how devestating.
Interesting article on Lance Storm's website about all his chronic injuries and how they're pretty much common to all wrestlers. Makes you wonder why they do it if they're all pretty much broken down and in pain by the time they're in their 30's. I mean, Lance is fucked up with all his injuries. I can't imangine what a guy like Triple H has to live with.
http://www.stormwrestling.com/commen...t.asp?aID=1413
and these are guys that take semi-normal bumps. imagine somebody like mick foley? jesus i can only imagine what his day to day life feel slike.
Yeah, these guys go through hell, which is why I don't "hate" any wrestler who has ever competed. These guys have all undergone tremendous amounts of pain just to entertain and bring joy to their fans. Makes me sick to see half the web shit on them endlessly.
Foley knew when to quit for his own well-being. I think some rest from stressful physical labor would heal some of their aches.
Foley said in his book that he'd have back pain for the rest of his life, what's scary is that, for him, that's the best-case scenario. He's in remarkably good condition though for a guy who's been through so many wars. He quit before he ended up like Terry Funk is now.
Sad he squashed the great Tommy Dreamer who is now just a glorified jobber. Mark Henry now has no personality right now, at least when he was Sexual Chocolate, and messing around with trannies he was amusing.Quote:

No, it was supposed to be "shocking." Long live Russo!!
Actually, Russo didn't write that little bit...Brian Gerwitz, the current Raw head writer, did. If it was Russo, Mae Young would have given birth to a full-grown stripper or something.
Anyone see Rock on Letterman last night? It was a good interview, and he basically said that he was done with wrestling for good. Big suprise...
Missed that, but loved SD. I hope the Rock does leave wrestling while he's still hot in Hollywood, he'll be able to make a lot more money doing safer work, which is better for him and his family in the long run.
Plus he makes good movies (from the 2 that he's done anyway)
Anyone tired of seeing Goldberg as an unstoppable monster? For a change, I'd like to see somebody no-sell his spear/jackhammer just to show how he's not above everybody. Hell I'd laugh if it happened with spike dudely!
Brooklyn Brawler! :)Quote:

Great ladder match tonight. A better than usual Raw.
Two things about Raw last night:
1. Steiner FINALLY turned heel! IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!! :)
2. That ladder match was INSANE! Finally, Van Dam gets a win! Seriously, Van Dam was amazing- that Gorilla Press slam onto the ladder/standing Moonsault combo was off the hook and the 5 Star Frog Splash off the ladder was beyond words. I was glad to see Van Dam hit that move with no problem this time since the last time he attempted it in a ladder match (with Eddy Gurrerro) he fell. Christain was great too, all that experience in ladder matches really paid off for him. Hopefully this will result in a LONG overdue push for Van Dam.
3. Goldberg seems to be getting more popular lately. I mean, the crowd was into him last night. This bounty storyline has some promise, despite the fact that it's unoriginal and has been done 50,000 times in past feuds. Oh, well. It was funny when he laid out Stevie Richards.
4. Victoria's finishing more is pretty brutal. Nice.
i knew i should have taped raw for some reason. 9:30 came around, didnt make the call to start my vcr and now i wish i had. suprising to see a belt change hands on a non ppv. so the match was pretty good then?
oh and im going to my first raw ever in pittsburgh on the 13th! im amped, tho my friend prolly got the nosebleed seats.
Like Dolemite said, the ladder match was just as good as the one Eddy and RVD had a while back. The crowd was going nuts for RVD, and I was thinking the exact same thing as Dolemite when RVD climbed the ladder hit the 5 star frog splash off the top.
I hope this results in pushes for both Christian and RVD.
Dyne- The IC title is no big deal to have change on TV. Hell, Christain won it at a house show.
A few more comments on Raw:
JR's Stunner was pretty bad, but about as good as you could expect from him. Big suprise, JR and King are back.
Mark Henry still sucks after all this time. WTF was that movie he did to HBK where he dropped him knees-first onto the steel steps?!? Sloppy, and it looked like it might have actually hurt him. Still, it was weird seeing HBK bloodied and dragged up the ramp like a little bitch by a nobody like Mark Henry. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing Goldy Jackhammer Henry.
Lita's lookin' goood.
RAW was very good last night. That ladder match was among the best.
That ladder match was amazing. I liked RAW this week. I still think the whole "boss" angle is a beaten horse...
Big Show stealing Eddie Guerrero's burritos... Best use of the Big Show EVER.
that one line almost makes me wish that I watched wrestling.
Smackdown! was cool. Plenty of good, solid matches. The Big Show running off to the bathroom was hilarious!
I winced when Charlie Haas drove Benoit into the mat. I swore he landed right on his head.
The tag match at the end was pretty darn good. Did you guys see the way Angle fell when Brock threw him out of the ring? Ouch. Lesner then almost fell on his own head later on.
The Angle low-bridge looked brutal, as did Benoit's bump off of the release German suplex by Haas. The Show-Eddie stuff was funny, if stereotypical and predictable. Show is great when he can use his face for comedy, so he was used pretty well tonight. I would imagine this is being done to build for a Show-Eddie title match at No Mercy, which should be interesting to see. Maybe they'll use the classic US title belt design if Show wins, as this belt looks puny even on Eddie.
More good wrestling on Smackdown with some bad (McMahonmania! ) and wacky (Eddy + Big Show + thunderous diarrhea-causing burritos = COMEDY GOLD!) promos sandwiched between. Eddie/Matt put on a good show as did Benoit/Haas and Angle & Taker/Brock & Cena. Cena's promos on Angle were awesome and hopefully the two of them can put on a **** match at the PPV where Cena gets put over.
Another example of the WWE's screwy double-standards: On Monday, Steiner goes heel and gives Stacy a soft belly-to-belly suplex and Coach & Snow scream bloody murder, but just three days later Bradshaw clotheslines the hell out of Shaniqua for interfering in their match, and Cole and Tazz defend him and say she deserved it. I love these inconsistencies
Looks like the Rock's movie ain't doing so well...
Yeah, it's from 411 but if it's true, I wouldn't be surprised to see his retirement postponed.Quote:
The Rundown, the latest starring vehicle for The Rock, failed to show much lasting power in its second weekend at the box office. The movie earned $18.5 million last weekend, but dropped a sharp 47% at the box office this weekend, down to $9.7 million.
While the earnings thus far are enough to sustain the Rock's budding stardom in Hollywood, they do remain a bit disappointing. Many were expecting this movie to be a massive hit, especially when critics began praising the film and the Rock.
How it performs over the next few weekends will be extremely important for the Rock's future a few years down the line, as well as how much promotion studios sink into his next few movies.
It's all my fault. I haven't gone to see the Rundown yet. The Rock should come and kick my candy ass.
Goldberg sold convincingly for a prolonged period of time, giving Mark Henry a push, and did not have to get the pin. Bravo. I was initially concerned that Henry would share a fate similar to when WCW built up Tank Abbott. Goldberg can become a great champion and he doesn't have to be a no-selling monster to do so.
Now what's going to happen with HBK?
Holy hell did I ever enjoy Raw tonight. While the Kane-Shane stuff took up too much airtime for my liking, the stuff between Jericho and Austin was great. Austin was "on" tonight. I loved the main event, as Mark Henry showed lots of fire and did moves he's never done before, he was perfect in his role tonight as the first man to seriously go after the bounty, and Rodney Mack did a great job making sure that Goldberg didn't get the pin. Maven-Flair should be an awesome match, and Maven's finisher is great.
"I've had more world championships than you've had women."
Good episode of Raw tonight, the car accident with Kane was actually done convincingly, shown in a way that the audience would actually believe Kane was in there (which he actually was!) If the WWE's gonna do crazy-ass stuff like this, this is how they need to book it. Not dropping a car from a hundred feet in the air on it's roof which would kill or cripple anyone who was REALLY inside.
The Austin/Jericho/Coach/Christian/Storm promo was GOLD, and the subsequent Storm & RVD/Jericho & Christian match stole the show. I think that's probably the best Storm has looked in any match since he entered the WWE. The four of them should really combine to put on some great matches in the coming weeks and months, four of the best wrestlers on the Raw roster.
The Flair/Maven promo was also hilarious. Flair's still got it
Wow, Goldberg couldn't even get a clean win over Mark Henry. Lame.
The limo "accident" (I can't believe J.R. called it that) was hilarious. Once again Shane leaves Kane seemingly dead (the dude looked to be covered with blood), and I'm sure once again Kane will show up next week with a band-aid on, otherwise unharmed.
Overall, though, a pretty good episode.
I only watched a few minutes of the rassilin last night...
But I'm guessing this was a setup for Kane to return with his mask.
and he'll have it right in the middle of his forehead :)Quote:

Since she's been back, she's tried the twist of fate a few times but I don't think she's succeeded...but she finished one match with that DDT, one with a moonsault... I can't remember what else.
I think it would have made more sense for them to do that with the flaming dumpster angle, but they could do it with this as well. I wouldn't mind seeing Kane with the costume he had when he first arrived in '97, he looked genuinely fearsome in that.Quote:

The Rundown was a good movie.
I can't think of a better way to end Smackdown: The Big Show, covered in shit, crying like a little girl. :yuck:
SmackDown was a great showcase with what's wrong with WWE's programming.

Oh, I'm sure one will pop up. I fell asleep and woke up as Steiner was coming down the aisle, I hope I didn't miss another riveting 15 minute opening interview. Although if it was an interview featuring the obscenely expensive Jeritron 5000, I'll be kicking myself.
well i just got back from my first ever live RAW. after the tables match the winning team stayed in the ring (i dont know how much was televised if any) and the dudleys got a kid out of the crowd, gave him a piece of the table and spike took a picture of him. then booker, shane and bubba did spinarooni's. i really got a feeling that shane cares a lot about the fans with how much time he spent out there after the match interacting to them and at times even doing the ric flair bow to the crowd.
also whenever i looked over at JR he was doing the rain man rocking motion. like not once or twice but sometimes literally for 10 minutes. sometimes almost banging his head into the table. i have no idea how that man can talk as clearly as he does while doing that. is that a side effect of the palsy? bacause at times he almost looked like michael j fox. it was THAT bad. other than that not much to say other than the fireworks are LOUD and that fire is HOT. oh and for some reason 10 minutes before the show Fink said we were 1 minute to live and got the crowd cheering. then he left and 10 minutes later the ring guy came in (that was covering for Lillian) and said we were 1 minute till live. odd. anyway Stacy was mad hot like always. i can't wait to see a big event PPV now.
Decent episode of Raw tonight, only real irritating part of the show was that whole segment with Austin/Steiner/Stacy. Once more Steiner, the best possible choice as a heel to go against Goldberg now that Kane's feud with Shane continues to drag-on, gets castrated by Austin, the guy apparently no heel on the entire show has the guts to stand up to. And what's with the idea of having a guy who's a convicted wife-beater "chivalrously" save Stacy from getting chaired by Steiner, then give her a Stunner because she doesn't want to drink beer with him. Great message you're sending out WWE, I'm sure this idea will go over well at bars across the country.
At least there was a silver lining to all that, tho, because I guess we finally know the answer to the burning question: Does Stacy spit or swallow? The former apparently :p
Rest of the show was good. Their teasing of Shawn attacking Goldberg then doing it after their match but saying "we're even" afterward as a retaliation to him getting speared last week, making people wonder if indeed it's going to be a heel turn.
And for the first time in forever on RAW, I marked out when Booker made his return. And he was over as hell with the crowd. Put on an awesome tables match w/ the Dudleys & Shane vs. Resistance, Jericho, Christian. Crowd went nuts when he bookended Conway through that table, I did too :)
That Austin schtick was disgraceful. Not what he did, so much as how it was portrayed. JR and King should have really driven home what a dasatardly turn that was...but instead, we heard "Well, that's the Rattlesnake."

they probably thought it was a part of the show or something.
