Kanyon was a old WCW guy and part of the failed Invasian angle so it would have been hard for him to get a decent push.

It would be great to see Eddy win the title, but wether the non hardcore fans buy him as a champion remains to be seen. Will he pop ratings or increase buyrates? Maybe, but the fact is he is viewed as a crusierweight and was just in a mid card fued with Chavo. Eddy's size may work against him but if he does win I doubt it will be a clean win.

I'm sure Michaels is being thrown into the Mania Main event so that HHH can lose the title to Benoit in a 3 way without being pinned.

Can't wait to see the match in a month on DVD. The belt looked good on him when he wore it a couple of weeks ago on SD. Also, good to see Chavo win the cruiserweight belt, as that'll help him get away from the stigma of losing to Eddie, and I can't wait to see how the title looks on him on SD.

That made little sense... WWE Heavyweight Championship.... WWE Cruiserweight Champion... yeah... the stigma's so totally gone.

Andrew, it helps give the illusion that the cruiserweight title is on par with the heavyweight title, and Chavo does hold the last pinfall victory over Eddie. Enjoyed what of the PPV I saw, was running some errands and missed the first half of it, walked in time just to see the Chavo/Mysterio, Angle/Show/Cena, and Brock/Eddie matches, which were all great. I actually only managed to miss the mediocre matches on the card, lucky me :)

I marked out like a madman along with everyone else at the place I was watching it when Eddie won it, and I'm glad he did it semi-cleanly after Brock kicked out of Goldberg's spear. The crowd was insanely hot for the finish, I'm really loving the WWE right now :D Angle/Eddie at WMXX will rock the fucking house!

Don't get too excited - knowing the WWE by the time WMXX rolls around the match will be a fatal four-way with Angle, Eddie, Vince, and Shane, and it will have Steph as the guest ref.

Rocks about Eddie though!

Does anybody think that Benoit will win? I'm not so sure that he will.

No one deserves that belt more. Right the fuck on, Eddy! Now the guy gets to co-headline Wrestlemania...never thought that would happen in a million years. Things are looking up in WWE. :)

I was worried that the expected Goldberg run-in would make Eddy look like a total chump, but since the Spear didn't lead directly to the finish of the match (Brock managed another F5 attempt, which Eddy reversed into a DDT and then hit his own finisher), Eddy's win still made him look good, while not taking away too much from Brock. Good match.

Andrew, Benoit's chances seem to get less and less likely with each passing Raw, and even if he does, I doubt he'll beat HHH for it.

Raw was pretty decent tonight, barring the triple threat match announcement for Mania. The Benoit-HBK match was fantastic, and Victoria had her "A" game in the women's tag match. Never thought I'd see her and Trish team up. Then showing a clip of Eddie with the title from SD was great, can't wait to get the DVD and take a few billion caps from it.

Yeah, the Triple Threat announcement was half-expected and I'm sorry it had to happen. I'm really hoping the WWE realizes what a disaster-waiting-to-happen that one is and changes it before WMXX, but I'm not holding my breath, their probably gonna spend the next month building it.

It still has the potential to be decent, especially with the talent level in the ring of Michaels & Benoit, plus how well they work with HHH, but doing the Yokozuna/Hart & Yokozuna/Hogan-type thing at WMX would've been so much cooler.

Show itself was great, angles continue to be built well and Michaels/Benoit was a great match. It's interesting how Shawn has that facial hair going now and that foot tapping during the staredown at the start of their match, very subtle foreshadowing to a circa WMXX heel turn just in time for them to have a match for Backlash in Edmonton, hopefully for the title. :)

My friend was expecting the Rock to come back and help him, but after minute 6 of meaningless garbage he gave up.

Dyne, he ran in, and I liked that edit job they did showing the Raw logo, then cutting out Lesnar's offense, very groovy. No word on if he's changed sides now, although it'd be neat. Rag, I think you mean Luger in that post, Hogan's thing was the year before that, at WM IX when he won the WWF title, and also wrestled in the opening match with Brutus "the Barber" Beefcoke (err...cake.) Also, your sig is God-like. I'm so glad I have that moment on tape, also, Victoria looked hot as hell in her outfit last night.

It saddens me to see so many 80s' greats have fucked up lives. Although Jake deserves the maximum for this, if it was intentional cruelty, and not him just simply being unable to afford to properly care for the snake.

I always rooted for Jake to get his act together, he's been one of my all-time favorite wrestlers ever, but he's had an incredible amount of vices to work through for so much of his life. I remember his comeback in the mid 90's leading up to King of the Ring where he put Austin over and set off the chain of dominos that would lead Steven into becoming probably the biggest wrestling superstar of the late 90's.

It's a shame his life had deteriorated to this point :(

SD ruled all, with the Eddie-Chavo match being great, and yes, the cruiserweight gold looked great around Chavo, and the WWE title belt looked at home with Eddie. Great heel turn for Angle too.

So, it looks like we'll have the following for Wrestlemania XX:

- Brock vs. Goldberg
- Eddie vs. Angle
- Triple HH vs. HBK vs. Benoit
- Kane vs. Undertaker
- Big Show vs. John Cena
- Foley vs. Orton

Looks pretty solid so far.

RVD & Booker T could defend their titles, as could Rikishi & Scotty. I wonder how they're going to handle Chavo's title.

I would imagine he'll have a rematch with Rey at Mania, or they could do something Ultimo and put them in a three-way. Also, I just read that the Rock made $15 MILLION for "Walking Tall"...whew... never thought a wrestler would be making anywhere near that in a flick. Good for him.

you really think taker will return at wrestlemania? ive been unable to watch raw for the past 3 months but do you think he'd come back as the phenom without his hair fully grown out? or have i been missing a lot?

He'll definitely be at Mania as the phenom, which incarnation remains to be seen though. He's got his hair halfway grown out, so there is still plenty of time for it to get at a classic-Taker length.

oh yeah we have until april dont we? ever since he went away from the phenom persona i just fealt like he was always lacking. call me a sucker but i love my wrestling with great entrances, flashy moves and bizzare backstories. that one ppv when he had the indoor rainstorm was just really cool. if they bring back paul ill probably faint. this is looking to be a great card and its what 4 hours long with that hour of old stuff? now i just wish they'd release the WM boxset on dvd dammit!

WM is March 14th, so he's got a few weeks to grow it out. I doubt they'll release a WM boxset, as they'd have to blur the WWF logo out for WM 14-18. WM XX will apparantly be getting three discs, which should rule.

Hollywood doesn't look at actors like The Rock to make movies that sell, they look at directors. Usually producers get the short end of the stick... just so you know.

Also, The Rock is a big name and star. Despite what many say (usually wrestling fans with no knowledge of business) The Rock is a big draw. He drew a #1 opener. How much of it was him? I don't know. But John Travolta and Brad Pitt movies don't always make tons and tons of cash either, and they're still big stars.

It has nothing to do with star power which things like MTV and MuchMusic often say on TV. Let me let you in on a little secret: those channels are dumbasses.

Raw was pretty boring tonight, with the McMahon-Bischoff thing being surreal, although it's a few years too late. Seeing Austin get hit with the F5 was great, and he took the move well.

RAW was ok.
Benoit/Batista was pretty good.
The last segment was nice, but McMahon vs Bischoff should be something they build up... have teams and everything but they don't understand that anymore.

Surely Wrestlemania 20 should feel more special than how it does now. It's got barely any stellar matches lined up for it... :(

And Raw was a mostly poopie last night, Trish took a crazy looking clothesline though.

Yeah, it looked pretty brutal. The Liontamer that Christian put on her looked fantastic as well. Also, I'm glad that Victoria won the title, although the eliminations were way too quick, and made both Jazz and Molly look horrible.

im really looking foreward to the undertaker/kane match just because ive always been a big time old undertaker fan. you guys think we'll see him before WM? im also thinking theyll have to add a stipulation before WM and make it a gimmick match.

Benoit's reversal of the powerbomb into the Crossface was pretty sweet.

Yeah, although everything Benoit does is awesome. Well, nearly everything. Anyways, SD was pretty decent, not as good as the first post Eddie-as-world-champ SD, but better than Raw. The cruiserweight match was great, and Nunzio's selling of the 619 was hilarious with him taking that face-first flop on it. The Angle speech at the end was fantastic, and he's a much better heel than a face. I was half expecting him to break out the three Is again.

Too bad Angle's neck is shot. :(

Yeah, gotta give him mad props for even wrestling still. It was eerie seeing the scar on his throat from one of his neck surgeries. Malenko has a HUGE scar down his neck, WWF magazine showed a close-up of it. I've got nothing but props for everyone who goes out there day in-day out and puts their body through hell just to entertain.

Wrestlemania is gonna be so fucking cool.

What's the best place to preorder WWE DVDs?

I want to order the John Cena DVD tonight, and have it show up here by Tuesday. If no place can get it to me by Tuesday, I'll just get it from Best Buy on Tuesday.

I'm not sure. Amazon might be good, never tried pre-ordering DVDs though. I'll probably use Amazon for the upcoming Lupin DVD, as it's about $10 cheaper than it'll retail for. Ah, and you attached the Theodore Long shirt, greatness.

The HBK-Benoit stuff was done well, and it wouldn't shock me to see HBK win the belt at Mania, then lose it to Benoit at Backlash in Edmonton.

Wrestlemania actually seems like a Wrestlemania this year. Granted, I haven't seen it, nor any other PPV, in years, but I remember ordering Wrestlemania in the late 90's and being amazed at how shitty and average they seemed compared to the other PPVs. This year's is actually shaping up to be a huge show, like it should be.

you know, with the extra hour of footage theyre putting in and the amount of hype behind it i really hope this ppv is going to be a major turning point for both brands, because the way theyve been going i really dont see myself watching to much more of it.
