It's because he was awesome as a heel and rapped his entrances every week. Now he barely does promos and sucks up to fans in the worst ways. No one expects everyone to be a good wrestler... it's just that they gave us the Cena we liked, and when he was doing so awesome as a heel that he was forced by the fans to turn face, they completely changed his character. The Rock always stayed cocky and funny, and his "millions and millions" thing went from being an arrogant ass to matching perfectly with his new face style. He never really changed.Quote:

Wasn't Cena was a face at RR '04? I think he turned right before SurSer '03 when he joined the face team for the "main event" opening match.
Chux was there, so why are you questioning it?Quote:

hmmmm....triple h, mebbe edge (not sure if he'd use his mitb for this), angle, and probably throw masters in.
Edge is injured.
Kane, Big Show, Cena, Chris Masters, Carlito and Sean Michaels. This also probably means That team RAW wins, and everybody wants to take credit for it to get a title shot.
kane AND big show? doubtfull unless they drop the belts soon. i forgot there were 6 so id say HHH, Cena, Angle, Shawn Michaels, Masters and someone else.
i also read that Angle wanted to win the belt this weekend and have Angle chase him thru to Wrestlemania, but the wwe seems to think there's more money in it this way and it's building up Cena for the long run.
i dunno.......Cena without a belt is just Cena unless he gets the IC somehow. i feel like Angle is being wasted lately.
RAW could really have used Matt Hardy right about now. Smackdown seems to have the better roster.
Batista, Chris Benoit, Booker T, Randy Orton, The Undertaker, Ken Kennedy, Matt Hardy, JBL, Rey Mysterio Junior, and Bobby Lashley. They also have a decent tag division going right now with MNM, LOD, Regal & Burchill and The Dicks. (too bad they broke up the Bashams for no reason, btw Korly you were dead wrong about Danny like I said you were) They also the cruiserweights, as limited as they are, with The Mexicools, Paul and London being the most notable entries.
All of this and they just recently lost two of their good assetts in Christians leaving to TNA and Eddy Guerrero's unfortunate passing.
RAW has Triple H, Cena, Angle, Flair, Michaels, Big Show, Kane, Carlito, Masters and Shelton Benjamin. Big Show & Kane are in a tag team right now and Benjamin is barely used at all. RAW gets all of the legends, too, like Triple H, Flair, Stone Cold, Mick Foley, Michaels and Hulk Hogan but 3 out of that list don't even show up most of the time.
Flair? I could see Triple H and Flair starting off the match and just beating the shit out of each other until Big Show and Kane come in and off them both. I think Kane and Big Show will both be in it, unless Cade and Murdoch challenge them. I wish they'd send Cade and Murdoch to Smackdown. They're such a good tag team and they have nobody to fight.Quote:

Edge is injured, but might be okay in time for a January PPV. Angle winning seems to be a forgone conclusion right now, since the fans are turning on Cena, and WWE can keep Cena strong by having Daivari screw him out of the title.
I think I agree with what they're doing. Cena needs a good long title run, like Batista, to solidify him as a tough champion. I always thought they'd end this Flair - Triple H business at Survivor Series and have Triple H chase Cena for the title at Wrestlemania. Angle and Triple H on both shows is going to cause a bit of a situation because they're both so intense with their characters and wants.Quote:

Some of the fans are booing him, good point. But I think this has more to do with WWE's idiotic booking more than anything. Enough with the 4 move finish. Give Cena a good match with Angle and for pete sakes let him rap out to the ring again.Quote:

HHH will beat him and then take him back under his wing (not what i want to see but what i figure the horrible booking will make happen).
Got the new Observer today. It's got a word-for-word reading of what Vince said to the crew when he announced the new drug and 'roids policy. It also states that Bam Bam Bigelow is now living off of Social Security disability. Also, Vampiro has left Mexico to live in Italy, as he's scared shitless due to Eddie's passing since they do so many of the same things together in their early days. Batista's working through his injury, which he wasn't asked to do, but is doing out of loyalty and knowing that he'd lose a ton of money with Orton (the planned top heel, with Bob Orton Sr. saving the belt for him) essentialy taking his main event PPV spot.
When Batista comes back, I'm sure he will regain his championship. Orton on top isn't exactly bad. Heel Orton is awesome.
Batista isn't aiming on coming back, he's aiming on not leaving, which is insane for his health, but healthy for his bank account. Given his wife's cancer issues, I'm sure he just wants to get enough to nix the bills and live comfortably.
Fuck, just give Angle the belt already.Quote:

The wrestlers earn anywhere between 30k - 60k in royalties for appearances in the video games THQ puts out alone. Merchandising is such a money making endeavor.Quote:

His downside guarantee was probably somewhere in the 5 million range, with his commercial payoffs and personal merchandising bringing in the rest of the coin. Christian made 200k off of his merchandise and workrate and he's not even a huge name and had no backing in WWE at all. Brock himself said 9 million when he was complaining about the no-compete clause way back when.Quote:

isnt it true that the wrestlers have to pay for travel and lodging while on the road?

D'Lo signed a contract during the Attitude era, which meant just about everyone got a decent amount of merch, and PPV buys were great. Now, that isn't the case, and guys are really hurting. Luther Reigns went into this in-depth during a Torch interview. In some fun '80s-related news, the AWF DVD set that was scheduled for last year is now coming out in January. If it's still $20 for five discs, it'll be a decent buy.
Yeah, but what I'm trying to get at is this. If wrestlers were making crappy money to destroy themselves every night - they wouldn't. There are SO many wrestlers now. So the wages have to be decent.
more on my previous elimination chamber post.
"A commercial just aired during iMPACT! in my area of Albany. NY which stated that The Elimination Chamber would return at New Years Revolution in Albany, New York. They listed the following participants which of course could change: Kane, The Big Show, Carlito, Triple H, and John Cena. Tickets were also announced as going on sale Saturday, December 3rd. "
HHH and Big Show are getting new entrance themes but Carlito in the main event spot? hmmm.
i have a feeling there will be a return during the SD/Raw match tonight.
jonas, they're decent enough, but a lot of guys have dedicated themselves to wrestling, and can only get job stability in WWE. Spanky comes to mind as someone who left the indy scene to rejoin WWE when he knew it'd be mean death for his pushes. The same will likely happen to Noble, who was an ROH MVP for 2005.
Survivor Series is really good so far.
Benoit - Booker T was a really good wrestling match, decent women's title match and an amazing last man standing between Flair and Triple H. Edge's promo was entertaining as well.
glad ive picked the losers so far.......
I forgot it was a PPV. I picked Booker T though, so yay for that.
i thought for sure they'd give benoit the belt.
Dyne, they might still, it is a best of seven series for the title after all.
That was a very entertaining pay per view.. the best WWE has done in quite a long time. From top to bottom it was all good!
mmm...usually when the Undertaker comes back from a hiatus he has some new look or an altered theme song but he's the same as before. eh..no big deal.
Undertaker is fine. New tights look weird. He should have wore something like that back when he first debuted. Knock it off with the pants already, you're not a biker anymore.
I picked HHH, Cena, and every member of the SD Survivor Series team this week.
They all won.
I am SO in first place.
i love them not having any confirmed matches for tonight yet.

how many chances will this asshole get?
"Things between Austin and WWE seem to have been patched up, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The company is still hoping for the big Hogan vs. Austin for WrestleMania. As you can imagine, booking negotiations between those two would certainly be interesting. When Hogan vs. Michaels was being booked before SummerSlam, we covered the entire booking process of going back and forth where the finish wasn't decided until almost the last minute. Hogan vs. Austin, if it goes through, would be an even more drawn out and complicated process. "
and Flair is just awesome.
"Wsoctv.com has updated their story regarding Ric Flair's road rage:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Pro wrestler Ric Flair faces assault charges after a road rage incident on Interstate 485 in Charlotte. Another driver said Flair attacked him and his car.
The driver said he was on I-485 on Wednesday, trying to get out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday and traffic was slow.
The driver said he noticed someone behind him flashing their headlights, so he hit his brakes.
The driver said the car then pulled along side him, police said. The victim said he immediately recognized the driver as Ric Flair.
The driver told police that Flair got out of his car, walked over to the vehicle, grabbed him by the neck and damaged his car.
Police said there are two warrants out for Flair -- simple assault and damage to personal property.
Flair's attorney, Richard Finnell, said Flair is unaware of the warrants. He said Flair is in Michigan this week for a pay-per-view wrestling event.
Finnell said Flair would be back in Charlotte on Tuesday. "
This asshole? Austin has balked at the company twice, for valid reasons. He's certainly far less of an asshole than Hogan is, a man who bitched about a quarter-million dollar payoff.
the first time austin walked out was valid? this last time was valid?Quote:

you amuse me at times. for this i thank you.

I enjoy hearing the crowds turn on Cena. Seems like the only people cheering for him are teenage girls. He's gotta turn heel soon.. cause sooner or later he'll hear a "DIE CENA DIE" chant like what happened to The Rock.
Austin is a baby, and unreliable. I agree with his walking out on losing to Coachman, because the entire angle was incredibly dumb. (Vader and Goldust, wtf?) Losing to Lesnar while he was steam rolling Hogan, RVD, The Rock, The Big Show, Angle and Undertaker? No. Hogan lost to Lesnar on Smackdown in a low pro match, Austin can go down on a RAW. Hogan being a baby doesn't mean Austin isn't being one by comparison. Man, Lesnar, get your head together. Wrestlemania would be a great comeback for you with Batista.Quote:

Smackdown utilizes its undercard talent with guys like Benoit and Booker T going for the U.S. TItle in a great series, Matt Hardy, Rey Jr., Ken Kennedy (all new) and Bobby Lashley. They also have guys like JBL, Randy Orton, The Undertaker and Batista filling out the top card. The Boogeyman is kind of lame, but atleast they're doing something with him. This is after Eddy's passing and Christian leaving. Smackdown > RAW right now.
RAWs main problem is that they're not building their young talent and they're booking Cena in shitty matches. Bring back the rapping. This is why he got popular and why none of the men in the audience are liking him. Vanilla faces aren't interesting.
It's amazing how much better one show gets over another after a roster split.
Except Rocky wasn't a bad ass heel before he turned in to his young buck face persona. I dislike it when fans boo faces for no apparent reason, but WWE isn't changing the way Cena is fighting or talking so they have no one but themselves to blame. I feel bad for Cena.Quote:

At one point Styles said that he used to look up to Tazz but not anymore. Taz followed up with: "Is that why I saw you following Michael Cole around backstage before the show?" I think he made fun of Joey Styles working for peanuts while Taz and Cole were making big bucks. I know he said "Why don't you go write something on the internet?" a couple of times, which shut Styles right up.Quote:

Tazz has been the best announcer in the company for a while, and Cole raised his game a lot once the roster split happened.

Dyne, you might be banned with that old man orgy pic. And Flair's head looks like a mess in part due to his recent feud, and moreso due to the wear and tear of 30 years in wrestling. He looks incredibly sad in that pic as well. In other, great news, Impact's rating went back up to a 0.8, and Heenan will be debuting for TNA at tonight's taping. Thank goodness they don't feed Styles lines, as that makes him seem unique on-air, and he's already a billion times better than Coach was in this role.

I don't care how sleepy the ref was, when Kanes pyro hit, he shoulda woke up.
Also, due to the Show/Mysterio match being a no contest, I lost out on a bunch of points. The ending was rad though.
Looks like I'm going to be gaining a lot of ground on Dyne this week. All of my picks either wrestled or appeared twice or won the matches they were placed in. Anybody who didn't pick The Boogeyman this week is a dumbass, btw. If I can overtake Dyne we may have a really good top 4 race on our hands again this time.
I'm pissed because I had both of them, and it was a main event, but you're right, everybody and their dad came out for that ending.Quote:

Boy, that SD special was something else. The Benoit-Booker match was great, and even featured Benoit getting KOed. Then there was the Rey-Show match, oh what a clusterfuck it was. Between Show spitting on Eddie's lowrider, and then powerbombing Rey onto, and then Orton beating the deadman inside of it, and then killing the deadman in it, again, it was a glorious half hour abortion for pro wrestling. The stuff with the ref was great, NOTHING could wake him up. He must have inhaled some of the WM IX ether.

When Jon Lovitz, Dennis Miller and Dana Carvey weren’t performing comedy sketches, WWE Superstars were squaring off in matches that often took on a pay-per-view feel.
Here are some of the most memorable moments from the original run of Saturday Night’s Main Event:
On Nov. 2, 1985, Hulk Hogan & Andre the Giant defeated King Kong Bundy & Big John Studd by disqualification in a match remembered for the size and stature of its participants.
On March 1, 1986, Hulk Hogan retained the WWE Championship against "Magnificent" Don Muraco via disqualification. But this match was infamous for King Kong Bundy’s interference and assault. In the end, Muraco and Bundy broke Hogan’s ribs. Enjoy.
The undertaker skit was pretty dumb on smackdown tonite, wwe always has to have at least one thing to fuck the show up.
Orton actually acted pretty well, I thought. The special effects guys must have been in their glory on that show, what with Boogeyman and Undertaker both running rampant.
Boogeyman didn't do much for his match, but his character/intro were nothing short of badass.
Not much of value on Impact once again, other than some storyline progression for a change, once again proving they need more time. The crowd went batshit on Jerrett, more than usual. Another primetime special on Thursday.
I liked Heenan and Bullet Bob showing up, but Heenan's appearance is really something they should have hyped beforehand on their site. There was some nice character development with Shelley, Abyss, and even Samoa Joe. The House of Fun match was a fun little war, I'm amazed they used a pizza cutter on free TV. As usual, the X division had the best match on the show, and Christian stole the show with his promo. I'm guessing they'll do a schmozz ending for Brown-Cage at the PPV, and then have a triple threat for the title at the next PPV, which would protect both men, and get them each into the World title picture quickly. Yet another good video package on Rhino, but like last week's, it was way too short.
