That varies from state to state actually. Some states use gas tax revenue for general expenditures as well, think the way lottery money is handled. Some states use it exclusively for education, others don't. In both cases the tax revenue should really be confined to the specific purposes, but hey that's government for you.

Third day in a row crude oil has slid, falling under $72/barrel. This all follows OPEC promising to keep production at record levels and Bush's move to curtail shipments to the strategic petroleum reserve and his recent urging to move towards alternative fuel sources.

I paid $2.87 a gallon for regular just today.
