Not being Bush will get you elected in many places in this country right now, but that same platform doesn't produce results one elected. There has to be more.

Both are way worse than the sweeping changes Washington really needs, but let's be honest, the partisanship in the air there is so thick you could put it on your pancakes, so that's not really an option. The Repubs have shown no signs of doing anything but perpetuating that fog while in power, so that's another point against them.
How I wish this were true. The problem is politics is funding by corporations. If canidates wore sponsership badges like nascar drivers, we'd see alot of familiar faces poping up across the political map.Quote:

And they get it, because no one really complains. Until shit like this happens. Then people complain, something token gets done and the cycle repeats until the system breaks or dominance is achieved. I think we're in a situation where dominance has been achieved. At this point the oil companies have worked capitalism to the point where they make a healthy profit on what they do, but the normal downward drag on prices that capitalism brings isn't coming into play because the demand is wayyyy too high and no one needs to undercut anyone else to move product at a profit. All they need to do is maintain supply.
Its legal because there is no colusion, its just a natural consequence of a nessisary product in limited supply for our economic system. If you want government to intervene, the smart thing to do would to cut off subsidies to oil companies and give massive tax incentives to develop and implement alternative fuel and energy sources.
