It isn't simply a habit. There are specific guidelines (assuming you take the Bible literally) on how Christians are supposed to behave.

You say "intolerant rant". Do you mean "hate-filled rhetoric" or "this is what the Bible says so this is how I believe it outta be"? The former is not Christian behavior. Hatred has no place in the heart of a Christian and the Bible tells us to shun those who call themselves Christians who openly practice this type of behavior or any type of ungodly behavior.

The Bible says that you should do a lot of societally unacceptable things.

"Whatsoever you do to the least of My people, that you do unto Me."

Based on my experience with you you are hardly an a student of the spirit of God's Word and therefore have no business judging me.

Besides, if knew anything about Christianity you'd know I was quoting the Word of God, not the law of God. New testament, old testament. Big difference.

True but simple academic interest ignores a lot of the deeper aspects of the faith.

So forgive me for being slow. A reference is taken out of context and called societally unacceptable and I don't get it because I know those word to mean something else.

As a person who has only attended Catholic institutions, the very first thing I was taught is the tolerance of others. These schools and churches teaching their followers to hate gays because of their way of life contradicts everything I've been taught in these private schools.

It is a shame that this is even a matter of discussion. People are different and if we want to advance as a society these differences must be tolerated. The world seems to just be taking huge leaps back instead of forward.

This tends to be a Baptist thing. The other branches have it to varying degrees as well, but none come close to the Baptists on this.
