People always want to cling to the Warm Fuzzies Jesus™ who loves all people and rejects none who seek Him out (which is truth) and ignore Christ the Judge® who will judge the sins of the evil, wicked, and unrepentant who turn not from their ways because it doesn't mesh their warm fuzzy image of Christ.

Christ is the loving Messiah and righteous Judge. It isn't going to be one or the other because people want it to be.

I meant "being intolerant about something and ranting about it." Ranting in itself is "not christian" and immoral so the specifics wouldn't matter, and I suppose it means that you should shun anyone who rants. Or maybe not, but if the critical eye put on people you've read an article about maybe, or even just a sentence is enough pass the righteous judgement on someone, then there's little reason to think that the same could not be said if someone criticized you so blithely. Or anyone, really. The image of the tolerant forgiving christian is not one that I see enough.

Mo7 makes a good point for once in his life - Jesus hung out with sinners, unbelievers, whatever but he never once accepted their behavior or said it was alright to do what they did. He loves the people but hates the behavior. That's just part of the Bible, if anyone doesn't like it, TS. If homosexuality really is a sin than yes while he may have hung out with gays he tried to change their hearts and repent.

That's another thing though, that these modern Christians screw up - a person always, always has a chance to repent and change their ways.

Edits to the teachings of Jesus to make Christianity more acceptable to a bigger audience, mistranslations and "reworking" of elements of the Bible over the years, Books that were conveniently left out or "lost," the Dead Sea Scrolls, complete ignorance of certain parts of the Bible because people just listen to what somebody else says it means... no offense, but any Christian who follows the Bible to the letter is a fool and a moron.

It amazes me that so many people will say that the words in the Bible are the absolute truth, when they know so little about the history of the book and their own religion. I think it is an insult to God to follow a religion without trying your hardest to find out for yourself what is true, and if you do that, I can't concieve of a way that you could consider the Bible to be the absolute truth. And from that, there's then no way that you can say the only true Christians are the ones who follow the Bible exactly.

This man understands.

This is the whole point behind the Scripture "Judge not, lest ye be judged".

A person is not condemned for one sin or even many. While a person lives, the book of their life is still being written and no one knows how it will end expect God so only God can make any judgement calls. So while a person may be an unrepentant sinner for the first thirty years of their life that can all change in a heartbeat. This is why the Christian ought to pray for the salvation and deliverance if the unbeliever, not condemn them. For such were we all at one point.

So how does that fit into Christian institutions kicking people out?

Many christens believe that the Bible got the way it is now by the divine will of God. Of coarse that argument becomes questionable after you read about some other things that are suppose to be the divine will of God, like every action ever taken by the Catholic church.
