That's pretty average indeed, even on a bad run I always score much better than that. Only 5.2 mil, 114 chain (instead of the max 118), subpar boss times, and no Tageri bullet-eat to 1 sec. Bleh. BTW my record is 5.88 mil with a 118 chain, boss times 61-65-1sec. There's a killer 5.9 mil vid by CVM up on super-play.co.uk-- world record run. Go get it! :)

Actually no one cares. :)
5,2 million is hardly bad. Not a WR run, but no one gives a shit about Ikaruga videos anymore anyways.

Here's a replay for Last Resort on Neo-Geo MVS, with full default settings. This was made with WolfMAME 0.104. The first loop (stages 1-5) is all cleared, and my game ends in stage 9 with a score of 424,400- not a 1CC yet, but I plan to change that before too long.
Why do I close in on some of the enemies before using a charge shot? The less distance the satellite travels to get to an enemy, the more damage it does. The "G" weapon (napalm) is the one to use most of the time- it makes that cave of gun turrets in stage 2/7 a ton easier than it looks.

Well, those things do help some. So does locking the satellite in front through this part to use it for a shield.

Ha nah my Ikaruga skills are doing ok. I just prefer shooters with a little more to them. If Iky is so cracking then why can everyone and his mom chain each level with S++...I dunno, not a bad game, just not a whole lot there. I'll stick to DOJ.

S++ doesn't mean shit, and if anything the reason everyone can do it is because Ikaruga had the biggest community and selection of videos, unlike DOJ. I mean jesus, there is no www.doj.co.uk is there?
DOJ is just as anal as Ikaruga is for scoring. The only difference is Ikaruga doesn't hide it. And really, Ikaruga has 3 modes which seem to be frequently forgotten. HARD mode is insane, and even for fucking SWY. I think that says volumes (just WATCH him milk TAGERI).

Imperishable Night Superplay (Interesting looking Shmup)
Some info on the game
Quote:
1. To answer all the comments wondering about the speed: The game can save and view replays, and the video is running in "boss-only" replay mode, so all of the normal enemies are sped up and the replay slows down to normal speed when you reach the boss patterns. So the great majority of the video is shown at a normal speed.
2. This replay is of the Extra stage, a separate mode that appears once you reach the true ending on one credit. Extra is just one long, absolutely hellish stage, with three lives, no continues allowed, and a crapload of bullet barrages. It's pretty intense and seriously quite fun once you get into it...hard as that may be to believe...
3. For more comprehensive information than the shrinemaiden forums have to offer, there is an English Touhou Wiki (http://pooshlmer.com/touhouwiki/) run by shrinemaiden.com forumgoers and many additional anonymous contributors. Do take a look. :)
Phew. I was wondering why it looked so fast during those certain parts.
Some of the effects in that look amazing, like in the sand area when the floor melts away. They really put a lot of effort into those graphics if nothing else.

This run was done shortly after my run on Super Easy, so I'd say it's a little tighter then the other run, with less errors as well.
Thanks for checking out the video, and make sure to watch after the credits for a quick listing of all my stage times if you're curious.

I've been learning about doing this for certain games like shooters and Gauntlet Legends. The real bugger comes from having to put quarters in, but you can get quite a rush out of doing this stuff and it draws a crowd sometimes.

I keep full throttle for the sake of the time bonus (500000 in every stage except for 3, where I got 400000). In the stage itself, wrecks cost a ton of time- you cannot go forward until the chopper has plummeted to the ground.
If a boss shoots you down, you stop briefly (i.e. the hiccups on stage 3 where the SR-71 had shot me down) - not nearly as long as you do if you're hit in the stage. Stage 3 is hard as hell to get a 500000 time bonus on- I think it may be possible as long as you're not hit once, even by the boss.

True, but do it too much and you're down 100000 on time bonus- more than you can make from picking off boss targets AFAIK. I think you drop to 400000 if you take longer than 2'08 for a stage. Having said that, I think I've got a little more time to pick a few enemies off in stage 4 (where I had taken only 1'31). Another half a minute to take out a few more targets may not be a bad idea.
