When I lived in Japan, I busted my ass to learn the language so that I wasn't expecting anybody to make accomodations for me. I never once expected anybody to speak English for my benefit, or do anything more than understand that my level of Japanese wasn't perfect. So, don't try use something like that against me.

Most of them simply don't like you and choose to pretend not to speak English. The rest of them have probably only been here for a few years or less.

Seriously, I've met more Polish speakers that can't speak any English than Spanish speakers.

Yeah, let's be clear here - I'm not saying that we should make a law saying that people MUST speak English to come here, or must learn it. We shouldn't need a law. If you live in a country, you should have enough respect for it to learn its language.

I'm not trying to 'use anything against you', I'm merely stating a fact. Those nations do make it easier for English speakers. In fact, all the time I hear of people going to Japan..TO TEACH ENGLISH! You certainly don't see that kind of arrangement here for Spanish speakers.
