So, can we expect the jap public won't buy it because of the girth?
PS3 is teh new Xbrick.
I'm curious what the Japanese response is...Quote:

I would imagine the $600 price tag will hurt the blu-ray format. The blu-ray format just went from a format you could safely purchase DVDs for, knowing it would be the next format, to a format likely to lose to HD-DVD.
No, size only matters when it's an American manufacturer having the biggest unit. Size doesn't matter if you are Japanese, which in their case is very fortunate.Quote:

But role isn't that video game racism? Wasn't the reason the first X-Box did not succeeed over there attributed to the size of the system? Now Sony is releasing a system roughly the same size and the Japanese are fawning over it like its naked pics of Elisha Cuthbert.
Yeah, they announced that the PS3 controller will be rumble-less, because it would interfere with the motion sensor.
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/705/705934p1.html
They'll probably charge for the rumbled version of the PS3 controller like fifty bucks.
what about the wii controller, will that thing be rumbleless too since it has a motion sensor?
Let's call it nationalism.Quote:

God we turned this PS3 thread to "EVERYONE elses console thread"
With the $600 price, Sony turned E3 into an "everyone elses console show"
Yeah, their hubris caught up to them this time.
Damn straight.
^I agree with the last three posts. Sony dropped the ball, stepped on it, then laid a big ass turd on the ball. Then in Japanese fetish custom licked the shit covered ball.
Six hundred dollars.
I am telling all the customers coming in to pay their bills about it and they are all freaking.
...360 it is then...
Boy was I way off. So much for shocking the world with a cheap price.
Nope. Sony took out the rumble feature so they don't have to pay those nasty royalty fees to Immersion...Quote:

So the only difference between the two PS3 packs is that one comes with 20GB and the other 60GB? $100 extra for 40GB?
they shuld have just sold the 20GB version, and left the HDD expandable to the consumer. plus leave out the all the memory card support(except memory stick ofcourse), throw out built in wifi(sell add on like xbox or whatever) and give a cheaper PS3to the consumer.
ofcourse this is just me, it wont make a difference since im getting the 60GB pack anyways.

And Dole is right. I guess if it was 20 pages he would kinda get it ... maybe.
I couldn't be happier. The corposes of my dead Sony systems have been avenged.Quote:

oops, sorry guys, my bad, i only watched the Sony conference and the fucker never mentioned that the cheaper PS3 lacked, HDMI, WiFi and memory card reader. So i just assumed the extra $100 is for the extra 40GB! plus the fact there is so much shit ti read and keep up with i'm not able to read every single page in all the threads. :cry:Quote:

How about when your character is tired, have the controller lighly rumble a little. Or on a horror game, when your scared have the characters heart beat faster and simulate this with the rumble feature.
How about 8 way directional rumble?
So sonys statement about "last gen it was about rumble, this gen its about feel" is lame, and they know they couldn't have the rumble feature cause of their lawsuit.
I take it you've never played a Resident Evil game?Quote:

I think Illbleed on DC did rumble for 'scared factor'.
Silent Hill has the rumble feature for when you're tired.
I love the rumble feature for racing games, even if it is used mildly. I'd gladly give up this gyroscope BS to get my DualShock back.
Yea, I wanted to see all of these things used together in a game.Quote:

It also says you can't upgrade the HD if you wanted to. There is so much shit being thrown around who knows what's true at this point. Sony needs to do some damage control.
wow http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=16971
first paragraph
"SCEI president Ken Kutaragi has defended the PlayStation 3's high price tag once again, declaring that not only will consumers be prepared to pay the cost but that the console is "probably too cheap.""
too cheap? classic. get off you fucking horse already. you didn't make yourselves without your fans. yes you're putting great tech into it but its meaningless if your system sales die outright once the initial batch is sold through after the people with money to blow got theirs.
I am not impressed with this, can't Sony come up with something more intuitive then the PSP interface on steroids?Quote:

Microsoft wins.
As down as I am on the PS3 and its price tag, this is a quote to a Japanese publication. From what I remember, the Japanese don't have the same thoughts on value as Americans do. They view something more expensive as more deserving of their money, or something like that. I'm sure shidoshi or the like could clear it up.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong.
Winning Japan isn't winning America, well not anymore anyway.
It just seems to me like Sony decided to lay off their common sense department.
I agree. Unless something changes in the way of price between now and launch, Sony's going to have to accept 3rd in the US, and probably Europe/Australia as well. Yes the Playstation brand name is popular, and yes they'll sell out their shipments, but there's just too much going against the thing in the long run.
I mean, if they had shown amazing looking games and some killer apps, then I think you'd see people saying, "yeah, it's $600, but it's amazing!" That's not happening, though, and your average consumer isn't gonna care that it comes with a Bluray drive until at least a couple years from now, assuming bluray doesn't tank in the first place.
I don't have anything against the PS3 or Sony outside of the price. Nothing justifies the extra $200, and I don't want to pay $699-799 for my next game console, so I hope the thing tanks worldwide. Obviously the chance of it tanking in Japan, however, are slim and none.
I know I'm coming off as a fanboy here, but this is too funny not to post!

Ah, the Great Giant Crab Battle of Sekigahara... It was a huge turning point for the nation.
They forgot to put in a reference to the interminable demoing of GT HD, though.
^_^ I like it! ^_^
I'm amazed at just how terrible Sony's press conference was, but if it spawns vidoes like that one then everything balances out.
lol, last 10 seconds is the best.

Why couldn't Sony allow you to plug in your PS2 controllers to play PS3 games? Sure, they can't make any more rumble controllers. But if a developer includes rumble feature for those using a PS2 controller, and you plug in your ol' DualShock, no harm no foul. For games that use motion sensing, of course, you'd need to use the official PS3 controller.
I don't think the PS3 will have ports for PS2 controllers. PS3 controllers probably connect to the system via USB.Quote:
