The text beneath her indicates her name is "Rosetta" so I find this unlikely.

Maybe Rosetta doesn't treat Mario like a particularly obedient dog. Based on the way Mario acts in Mario 64, there's some serious dominance/submissive games going on there. I bet Mario finally had enough of being Peach's bitch.
