What some people are able to do is irrelevant. Some people can have car wrecks with out a seat belt on and live, but that doesn't mean we should take seat belts out of cars.

She deserved punishment but assuming she wasn't giving drug cake to every student, everyday, essentially destroying the learning environment, she should have gotten a different punishment. A public apology, community service, financial compensation are all good examples.

You're just rationalizing your own feelings. It is not logical to punish someone for being a social deviant in a way that will encourage them to become a bigger social deviant regardless if some people are able to keep said punishment from pushing them in the direction. Period.

Did I not say that I feel all drugs should be legal? Give me a break! If you're out poisoning your school environment with drugs when you're 18 years of age you don't deserve to be there. If you're 15, 16, that's a different story, but at 18 you're a legal adult and should be treated as such. Not coddled and shit because you needed to get high on school time.

Drugs are not the issue in this case at all. This is poisoning, plain and simple, and if the school wants to push the charge fully they should be able to. Fucking with peoples food is never a good idea, even if you think it is something as harmless as pot. And anyway, if the school kicks her out it isn't like it is now impossible for her to graduate from highschool.
