genre-ruiners (a bold look at bad cosplay)

I love it when people cosplay. It's great, like going back to halloween when you were younger, but now you're twenty something and not receiving parental help, which may or may not be a good thing. Not to generalize, but it seems that the most unnatractive people enjoy cosplaying. Here's some great examples of it..

I can't tell if this is a guy playing Rei or not. Then again, I don't want to know.

The Pen-Pen idea is creative, but something tells me that a six foot man shouldn't cosplay as a one and a half foot penguin.

That was the only convention that I've ever been to and I remember that tin-foil man very well. My friend and I pointed and laughed. The funny thing is, he really isn't that funny compared to the other freaks that show up. I'd rather look like that than some of those other people.

The problem is, if you've ever been to a con, you'd know that the "ARGHH"'s outnumber the "It ain't so bad"'s by a HUGE margin.

Hahaha. My god, that was... horrible. And where the HELL do those above-monster cosplayers come from? Freaks of nature, I guess.

You guys are probably going to hate me for life, but i've always thought cosplay was silly as hell, and these pictures really don't help. If i ever went to a con, it would be to laugh at grown ass men and women trying to stuff themselves into costumes that are too small; the baby huey effect. Blast away.

I went to Megacon in Orlando a few months ago, and got my share of cringe worth cosplay. There was one kid dressed as Shinji, and I swear that by the crappy costume and the guys size that the "real" Shinji could have mopped the floor with him. One girl had a nice idea of dressing as Yuffie riding a chocobo. Her real legs would go into the legs of the chocobo, and the chocobo's body she wore like an innertube float. Thing is, she had these homeade sock legs hanging from the side of the chocobo, and they were so small it seemed Yuffie had some freakishly deformed beef jerky legs compared to the size of her actual body. Two guys got some sorta award for their Trigun and Wolfwood costumes. I don't know what the award was for, the costumes were nice, but Wolfwoods cross was decorated like a Christmas tree, and the Vash guy had a pickle in his mouth the whole time:confused:

Yeah, so they are "ugly." So what.

The only funny thing is that they (and everyone) feels the need to dress up like an anime/video game character. Not that they are freaky or overweight. Or stupid. Or very very stupid.

I will never understand cosplay. Don't think I ever want to.
