Odd take on Eric Schlosser's excellent book- instead of making a documentary-style movie or something, they're actually using the book as the basis of a fictional dramatization that deals with the events/info discussed in the book. Looks interesting.
Unlike Morgan Spurlock's worthless movie (and book... and girlfriend... and personality), Fast Food Nation is excellent. Schlosser's other book, I forget the name, is excellent as well.
Nickel and Dimed was pretty good too. I actually read that and Fast Food Nation while loitering in Barnes and Nobles.
Only communists read books for free.

Fast Food Nation was an excellent book, it made me think twice about eating out. I eat out maybe twice a month at the most; making food at home is so much cheaper and healthier. I like the approach of the trailer, looks really cool. In Texas there are so many obese people and the only time anybody in this town gets excited is when we get a new fast food place. I wish we had a co-op here I could shop at, it is so hard to get fresh organic food here.
See the thing is even with all of this bullshit about how unhealthy and enhanced fast food is, it's still cheap, it tastes delicious (well, most of the time) and it's convenient as fuck.
No one is writing books about how the diners of America substitute pork for veal or hire illegals to cover every position from busboy to head chef. I mean shit, fast food is such an easy target so why bother? People aren't going to stop buying it.
The good thing about Fast Food Nation was that it went into depth asto what the FF companies do that make them a scourge; they have such wide influence and their relentless drive to make their shit cheap has really hurt so many places, usually poor, usually in the Midwest. The beef industry, the service industry, etc. For example, McDonalds gets gubment money to train low-income workers but have at the same time don't train people (since their systems are so efficient).
The book was not about some socialist asswipe like Spurlock painting with a broad brush and hoping for the nanny state to tell people what to do, it was asking the FF companies to act a little more responsible. And that's why it's valuable. Schlosser knows people have their vices (and a good thing and a sign of our affluence); greasy cheap food is among them, but we don't have to explode the Earth to get them. I haven't watched the trailer but I doubt that message will be portrayed in the film.
This looks like Clerks 2.
