Diff probably doesn't care. He is well educated and is dating a girl that comes from money. No matter how many illegals come to this country he will not be affacted. His position is fairly secure, allowing him to have ideals as high as he wants.

Im not. If anything I am more libertarian than anything. But guys like SpoDaddy, if you're not a member of the Bush Cult you're one of those darn libruls.

I just dont like the idea of our current government branding a bunch of people who are helping our economy (economist, april 29th issue, like I said) as invaders and then using their powers to lay vengeance upon them. Or pretend to, at least. If they operate on this the way they operate on port and airport security nothing much is gonna change, anyway.

But like I said early on this is just red meat nonsense to gain votes in an election year. It will be forgotten next year, promise, only to mysteriously surface in 2008. Just like gay marriage.

Again, you can't compare a wall designed to keep a miserable population from defecting and a wall designed to keep people from illegally breaking into your country. Now we're going to trot out the liberal "one world" argument, where we shouldn't segregate ourselves at all from Mexico with a silly thing like a protected border? The "manipulating the population" thing is bullshit; Republicans want illegal immigration because it provides cheap labor for corporations and Democrats want illegal immigration because it provides a large uneducated group of possible future voters. Public outcry from the people is putting the pressure on to protect the border.

Not paying taxes while siphoning tax dollars and taking jobs away from Americans does hurt the country, believe it or not. Most illegal immigrants do not have their whole life in America planned out in advance, don't be a moron. The wealthiest Americans benefit from the cheap labor provided by illegal immigrants, the rest of the population suffers. That a pro-corporation government will not punish an American for hiring an illegal is a huge problem, that's the first good point you've made.
