I went BB over the weekend trying to buy a TOS optical cable for my Xbox. $30 freaking dollars for a 6ft cable.. WTF?
Went to Circuit City, was marked $22, rang up 37... WTF?
Checked ebay today $.99.... SOLD!
Is there a difference I should be aware of?
Yea, those stores are making fat stacks off suckers buying overpriced cables. Blame Monster.

In otherwords, it passes light as well as the .99 cent one. While the $26 one may be a bit more rugged, its not like your jumping rope with the thing.
I paid about $40 for a sony toslink cable back in 1995 that was essentually the one you got of ebay for a buck. It was the only one i could find back then, anywhere, that wasn't $200-300 dollars.
The connector end broke off about 2 years ago. :(

Most cables are dirt-cheap. They're how electronics stores make their money.
$20 Gold-Plated USB cables at Staples cost the store $1.

Hey, I gotta make money off of SOMETHING I sell don't I? I actually lose money selling printers if the customer actually wants help with selecting one. Of course, on the rare occasion I need to buy a USB cable I either buy them at Big Lots (3 for 5 bucks) or get an online store to throw in a cheap 99 cent deal when I buy another part.
When I worked at Circuit City back in the day, in the car audio department, we sold 4 gauge amp wiring kits by Streetwires for 100 bucks. They cost us, if I remember correctly, 9 dollars and change. I sold the shit out of them though, cause the spiff on them was 25 bucks.
Ah, it's been a few years since I worked at a Staples, but my price was accurate for the time, actually. I could be thinking the standard cables? Doesn't exactly weigh heavy on my soul either way. :DQuote:
