Was the Neverhood any good?
The Neverhood is an excellent, excellent game, if only for its imaginitive world, story, and characters. In terms of gameplay I guess it's a by-the-numbers Myst style adventure with very deliberate logic puzzles sprinkled around, but those types of games are as strong as their world, and Neverhood's is the best.Quote:

Hard to say. On the plus side it had great clay animation, character design, story, and really funny cinemas. You can really tell a lot of work and imagination went into making that game. On the other hand, it plays kinda like Myst.
I like it a lot, despite hating Myst-style games. The Neverhood is the only one of that ilk I actually enjoy playing. Skullmonkeys was great, too.
Agreed.Quote:

EWJ definitely rocked. Pretty damn hard too. Took me about 2 weeks of playing everyday to beat it. That underwater level was near torture. EWJ2 was so frustrating I didnt bother playing it for long. 3D blew. Plasma!
The Neverhood soundtrack is pretty much the only game soundtrack I listen to regularly like a normal CD.
As for Skullmonkeys, it's a pretty mediocre game in terms of gameplay, and since it's an action game, that bothers me more than it did in Neverhood, where it was all about exploring this little world. And the soundtrack, with a few exceptions, isn't as strong.
BTW, more evidence that Doug's been a long time Jesus freak: Neverhood, Skullmonkeys and Boombots' soundtracks were composed by his favorite Christian rock musician.
Frustrating? It was easy as hell and I blew through it in 20 minutes.Quote:

Yup, Terry Taylor. He does a good job, though, and at least it's not fucking gospel hyms and organ music. He comes up with some wacked-out yet entertaining tunes.Quote:

Well, I have 1 on Genesis and 2 on SNES. Maybe it wasnt that hard, but I didnt finish the level where you had to shoot through the walls to find the paths. I know I had FF3 at the same time and naturally that took me away from everything else. Ive still got EWJ2, maybe Ill have to try it again. I definitely havent played it since 1995, so my memory is very vague.
Dolemite - Mick says "Hey there sailor."
That was level 2 and it was probably the easiest level in either game...Quote:
