So I'm leaving for the weekend for some camping, fishing and canoeing. I'm really looking forward to it. Its so damn nice to get out away from everyone for a few days. Hopefully it stays nice out. Mid 70s this weekend in Northern Wi. Should be awesome. Any of you guys get out and do this stuff?
My family used to go camping every year growing up, the wife will still go with me but she isn't too fond of "real" camping. We have to borrow my parents RV (or rent one) or she'll whine the whole time - "I need a nice bathroom", etc. Women.
Though lately my parents go Point Sebago in Maine, which isn't a campground so much as a camp resort. Golf course, nice steak restaurant on the premises, activities planned all day if you want, midnight cruises on the lake, etc. It's still a nice vacation but definately not anything close to real camping.
Your wife would HATE camping with us. Hell even my GF won't come.
Theres usually 4 of us that go. When we go theres usually No electricity, No running water, and usually an enclosed outhouse. For a shithouse they are surprising kept up. Probably because its a National or State Park. We try to go where no RVs are allowed. Fucking RVs and people that use they're goddamn generators all night. :D I wanted to leave this morning but my buddy owns his own electrician business and I guess some shit hit the fan so we can't head out until Fri morning. Oh well thats fine. Leave at 5:30 or 6 am and we should be there around 9/10am. I'm going to catch some delicious bass. I would kill for some nice walleye though.
I went on Outward Bound when I was in 11th grade. It rained 3 days straight, but was awesome afterwards.
thats the way i like it roughinng it. Being in the middle of nowhere no people around no toielts, or anything else. I love fishing, and talking hikes, were camp we always stayed next to a creek so we would foloow it up stream and what not. Or when we stay in deseret type areas doing walk aboutsQuote:

The past few summers I've gone up to the Kennebec and went on a canoe trip for 4 days. It's great, at night we just put up the tents right on the beach, break out the cooler and grill and relax. If you go on the Kennebec the best time is mid July when the water level is still high and it's nice and hot. There's usually alot of ppl that camp out on the beaches so it's a party. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that lives in the Northeast...and enjoys the outdoors.

My dad and I used to "rough it" in an old garage on our lake place when we gave away the camping trailer. Now the closest we are to "roughing it" is a newly purchased RV. I sleep maybe 2-3 hours a night in it.
I like camping quite a bit, but can't stand most state/national parks. They just attract way to many bitchy ass families, and I can't tolearte that shit. Forest service/private land is where its at.
In August, I'm going to attempt the Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier. I'm fairly confident I can make it, but 93 miles :eek: is quite the trek, and the most I've done in the past is twenty. I'm trying to think what we did in Outward Bound, I know we started in PA and ended back in MD going down the Appalachian. We had pedometers and the most we hiked one in one day was 12, and the least was 6, it was a lot of fun though, for the week.
