This stuff is so stupid. My friend "found Jesus" or whatever, and vowed to stay celibate until he got married. I think that lasted until he went on a vacation to some southeast asian hovel. Now he has a gf and its all over.

I can see the point of it, but we live in a society where we are taught from birth to give in to our impulses and get whatever we want. Delayed gratification has no place in the USA.

I dunno, there are exceptions ;)
sadly this is the point, mindless consumerism applied to everything in people's lives. its kind of sickening. but there are a few holdouts, itall depends on how much you buy the mindless consumer mindset.

Wanting something you can't have immediately, working towards it and finally earning it is a wonderful thing, and makes getting whatever it is seem so much better than just getting it the second it's wanted. Which is all very well and good if we're talking about a car or something, but sex? That's just stupid.

The thing that bugs me about these people is that they act like they're making some huge sacrifice, when in reality they just can't get laid and try and dress it up as some kind of crusade. Either that, or they think somehow they can wash away their slutty, whoring past through religion.

I can count the number of times I've had sex on one hand(although I can't count the number of times I've had sex with one hand), and I could very easily claim that my abstinence is proof of moral superiority. Of course, I'm not bitter or greasy enough to do that, but these nuts are.

Judging by the fact that the VAST majority of them break the pledge within a year... yes they can.
