Did a search and didn't find any other topics on this so I'm going to go ahead and create one.
Marvel ultimate alliance is the next X-men legends style marvel game. With how good the X-men legends games were I have high hopes for this one as well. But I'm I blind or is Iron man missing from the line up? At any rate the game looks very promising, and I must say I'm all around impressed with the quality of recent Marvel titles. Movie crap and EA garbage excluded of course.
movie crap and EA garbage excluded leaves what? Ultimate Spiderman and the Legends games. I didn't try XL2, but played the first one and it annoyed me. First off, what's up with locking multiplayer in the beginning? Secondly, if you have to block off parts of levels, don't use a parked car or even worse invisible walls.
However, maybe Raven learned a little bit and this one will be better. I'm a whore for spandex, so i will pick this up regardless.

I actually just bought X-Men Legends 2 the other day, and am currently enjoying it a lot. So I'll be all over this game when it comes out.

It looks pretty average on Wii compared to the other systems though, very simplified and rely's on the Wii controller to sell it (and they damn well better with those graphics).
I spent 2 hours with it last night. Very similar to Baldur's gate for perspective, just like X-Men Legends for gameplay.
I enjoyed what I played of it. You start the first mission with a set group of characters. After the first mission, you can change them. It was quite cool to take Iron Man, Thor, The Thing and Moon Knight out for the second mission.
Simple beat-em-up fun with the Marvel Universe.
Is it worth $50?

As for the characters, Moon Knight is playable. I have not tried all of his super powers yet, but the look is great, right down to the white cape and staff. The first time you could change your party, I saw Spidey, Wolverine, Capt America, Iron Man, all of the Fantastic Four, Thor, Moon Knight, Elektra, Ms. Marvel, Spider Woman and Storm (I may have missed a couple). I know Daredevil and Silver Surfer are also in the game. There were about 10 "black" locked" characters on the selection screen as well. I don't know who any of those are.

They explain in the IGN review that the boss battles (unlike the rest of the game) aren't beat 'em up affairs, but have minor puzzle elements that involve the environment. So I guess it's not like The Thing is running up and giving Galactus piledrivers or anything.

It makes it so you can no longer earn Marvel Ultimate Alliance achievements on your XBL profile. It doesn't matter if you delete the game from your HDD completely, you still can't get achievements.

I figured it was about time this thread actually discussed, you know, THE GAME, and I've been playing the hell out of it lately. I've already beaten it on normal (got the 4000 kills and 400 ledge toss achievements!) and am going through it on hard to get that achievement. Along the way, I'll be doing each simulator mission as I find it, and that should be enough to get Silver Surfer, as well as the costume and gold mission achievements.
All we need now are some 3-player co-op plays. Anyone up for it? I have the Fantastic Four and Avengers maxed out, so we can go through co-op or arcade mode if you want. I see there are at least four people here that have this game, so we should get together and save the world sometime.
The game is alittle too long for me... maybe 1 level too long. Some of the boss fights were pretty cool (kinda like QTEs).
You know I'm up for it. Shoot me an invite.
What's this game going for? I've been waiting for it to hit 30 bucks for a while now.....
It was $40 in after Xmas sales. I'm sure that will become the set price, if it hasn't already. Then you can wait for deals to drive it lower.
I tried playingthis 2 player co-op. Couldn't get into it. TBH I amhaving more fun with it in single player (but it's still not that much fun...no items kind of take away from this genre)
It's not really that long when your heroes are powered up. I have the Avengers and FF at levels 60+ and even hard is no problem for me. Well, that is until I got to Loki. I'm stuck there now because his damn energy syphon kills EVERYONE at once. I'm not sure if you can block it, and I don't know if I want to spend hours level grinding just for him. I should though, since there's only the Skrull homeworld and Doomstadt left to finish after him.Quote:

Deadpool rules, BTW. Between his machine gun attack and his ability to teleport he kicks a lot of ass.
There are a few FAQs that guide you through the game, and I recommend using one. There are so many focus/strike/body upgrades, comic art. simulator discs, and skill points scattered around that you'd definitely miss a bunch going at it solo.
At least the game lets you review how many of each you've picked up per act.
Is the Wii version of this any good? I think I'd rather get the 360 version, except I don't have a 360 yet.
I picked up a raincheck for the 360 version at Target ($39, cant beat that) so hopefully next payday I will have this, heard nothing but good things on this one.

I'm down. I got the Gold Simulator Mission achievement, and I unlocked the Silver Surfer. Now I'm only 8 costumes away from that last single-player achievement. The rest is multi-player.
Shit, Korly needs to get in on this. He asked me to play online when I first got the game, and I didn't know you could play the campaign that way. With him we'd have a full team.
Monday at 10 EST is good for me.
Skip the Wii version, it's got weak motion controls shoehorned in and doesn't compare with the 360 or PS3 versions graphically. Do what I did and wait until you get your 360.Quote:

Yes! I got the achievement for unlocking every costume! Even better is that I found out that Thor is immune to Loki's energy attack, which led to some quick ownage.
The Shi'ar are kicking my ass though. :(
I've already encountered two weird things, I dunno if they're glitches or what;
1.) I beat the game, but don't have Dr. Strange unlocked. I saved him from the Mandarin (I think you have to) and yet he's still not selectable from my heroes menu. I can, however, play his comic mission so if worse comes to worse I can just get all his costumes that way (or so I hope).
2.) I was playing the Shocker comic mission with a few people I needed costumes for, and it told me I had unlocked Elektra's third outfit (the Assassins outfit) so I after that I switched and played through the rest of the level as Daredevil. Now, after I beat Shocker I went to go see what the outfit looked like and much to my surprise, and anger, IT WAS LOCKED. What does this mean? Did the game mess up or did I do something wrong? Should I have kept using Elektra the whole way?
Did you retrieve the Eye of Agamatto? It's in a cache a little further down from where you found Strange (after a little pit-like area with vases all around it).Quote:

You'll need to do the same for Iceman (Polar Explosion is the best), Blade (Spike of Destruction), and Ghost Rider (Ravaging Flame). Use the power attacks I mentioned to kill all the enemies quickly, steal and use the fire demon's swords, and save one for the boss. You're guaranteed to get gold on all of them.
The same goes for the Skrull World missions (Human Torch and Ms. Marvel). I maxed out Johnny's Inferno skill and Marvel's Prism and killed everyone quickly, getting gold on both their missions.
Are you sure it was that outfit? She may have had another unlocked, but I'm not sure. I did all but one of hers using her simulation disc. When I only needed one or two for the last four or five characters, I used three of my regular team and one of the costume-needing heroes in the Crimson Dynamo simulator. Infinite enemies guarantees you'll unlock them all, and even if the guy is a wuss like Blade, you'll have no problem since the other three guys are powerhouses. Then just pwn CD and you're done. I got the last eight costumes I needed in about 40 minutes.Quote:
