Official Battle Royale remake thread

Well, shit.

So yeah, it'll probably be PG-13, have shitty pop and rock music in it, a ton of fast camera edits, that oh so lovely "shakey cam", and a ton of 26 year olds acting like they're seniors in high school.

But regardless of how low the hopes seem to be, the real question is who would be the best fit for Beat Takeshi's character(or Kiriyama and Mitsuko for that matter)?

Personally I say cast no-names in the lead roles(sugi/shuya/noriko/etc) and then sprinkle in familiar or well known kids to get iced(nothing says shock value like seeing someone from the Disney Channel catch a mouth full of mac-10).

Thoughts?

Shit, I really wanted to be the one to remake this. I talked about this from a friend at school when it came out.

i have yet to see the 2nd and thought the original was pretty "meh" anyway.

You'd hate 2 then.

Man, that sounds like it would be a fun movie to be in.

This movie uses shock, style, and social satire and I have no faith in Hollywood to pull off more then just the shock. Not to say the original couldn't be improved (the undead teacher, the intregration of the baseketball game, and the suicides all spring to mind) but I doubt it will be in the ways that it needs.

Same, except replace "school" with "home." Wonder if this means they'll finally get around to releasing this stateside.

There is no way that this can't be R and hope to sit well with people who have seen the import. Granted if people haven't seen it, I guess ignorance is bliss.

As for Part 2, just don't. It's horrible.

I liked Battle Royale when I first saw it, but rewatching it a few years later it didn't really do much for me, so I don't really care about this. Hopefully there will be some famous heads in it getting blown up, because I doubt they'll be able to fit anything else in from the original.

The movie was just ok to me.

Battle Royale is decent but very overrated, once you get past the level of violence and the killing of teenagers for pure shock value. The overall plot was actually really retarded.

Beat Takeshi fucking ruled in it, however. They need him for the remake.
