Dear Capcom, every Mega Man series sucks except the original. Please work on Mega Man 2 Powered Up and skip all this other bullshit.

I really liked MHX, but that's mostly because the source material was so good. X1 is easily the best X (imo), so I'm okay with them just doing that one and leaving the rest alone. Whereas with the original MM series, 2 + 3 were in many ways better than the first game, so yeah I'd really like to see PU continue on to those.Quote:

Actually, modern Mega Man games aren't all that successful. All of the Mega Man Zero games have bombed badly, Powered Up bombed, and the EXE series is only moderately popular (and it also bombed when they tried to bring it to DS and spin it off on GC). Anniversary Collection is the most successful entry in the series in years. And Maverick Hunter X sold 70k it's first month, which while not a big hit, is better than most Mega Man games have fared.
I honestly don't know why they keep pumping out sequels. Mega Man is one of gaming's most well known characters, but unless they do something new with him, the games aren't selling on his name alone. I mean, Sega continues to molest the Sonic franchise, but those games continue to be million sellers, for God knows why.

Capcom- Release Powered Up games, Tron Bonne games, and Legends games (like, once ever three years, not once a year), and then just release several hundred art books of characters that would be in Mega Man games that will never be released. I'd enjoy that very much, thanks. It's fun seeing the new Man Mans in each Battle Network, but i don't really like anything after that. Oh, and X can go away. Please.

OK. Mega Man II is the best game of the ENTIRE Mega Man library. 8 was pretty good, but come on. I personally own 9 Mega Man games (Including the X series) - I have no idea how I accumulated this many - for various systems. This series is dead if youve played any 3 games out of all of them. I mean seriously, Im waiting for Felcher Man as a boss. Is there ANY series in the HISTORY OF GAMEDOM that has more games on as many platforms!? I challenge you to make this fact false. On top of being boring for years, when was the last (or only) time a Mega Man game did something original? Now please dont take this as me just hating on MM. I love (old) MM, but enough is enough. it's still lan. uhm. yeah. it's a lot of fun. i just had some head to head battling with a friend and it was crazy intense. there's so many options available to you early on in the game now. i have all the crosses/souls and i'm only about 20 hours in...so it seems like they shortened the game a lot and just have extra shit if you wanna do it.Quote:

I actually have a thing for Megaman 3, but MMLegends 2 will always be my favorite. I went into it expecting nothing but the hotness of Tron Bonne, and it was sooooo good. The Zero series was pretty cool too, from playing the first 3.
Battle Network was fine for me, but i really started getting tired of the basic gameplay by the end of the second, and i sold 3 before i was done with it. I always love seeing the new character designs for the bosses. It's neat to see what they've changed.
6, though.... It's really, REALLY good? You promise?
6 is the best of the soul/cross series started in bn4. the pace of the story is a little faster. i think it's comparable to bn1 in terms of length. but...i mean...i really like megaman. i really like this series. i don't care for the zero series 'cause it's like the x series and i was just kinda tired of that stuff. if you haven't played it since 3 then a lot has changed since then. you may enjoy it lots or you may not. you'll probably enjoy it more if you have someone to play with.Quote:

I've only played 1-3, but each one of those had a signifigant gameplay addition or two, a slew of new enemies, and every area was different from the previous save for Lan's hometown, and from what I've heard that holds true for the other games since. That seems like a fair amount of work for a sequel to me... it's certainly no SFII Turbo where they changed the color of the backgrounds and just made characters playable whose assets were already in the first game.Quote:

wait....huh? the only megaman games that are similar are the original, x, and zero. soon to be in that bunch is zx. legends and the exe series did try something new. there are significant differencest in each game in the exe series. the first 3 started on one idea with having a style that you could use and level up. the last 3 focused on crosses and dark chips and some other things while improving the gameplay. you can't say they haven't added anything when you've never played or even examined these titles. i can see how people are annoyed that there are too many and that they're too similar...but that's like some one say "there's too much anime, anime is all the same!" well....if you don't really watch anime it will look the same to you.
finch - yeah, i enjoyed command mission a lot. i never got around to finishing it, though. + X8 is really good. much better than the last....like....2 x games. 5 and 6. oh...wait...i'm forgetting about 7. i still haven't played that one, though.

well, there weren't just new bad guys. it took a while to get into (it's one of the longest bn games next to 4 and 2 i think) but if you stuck with it there was just so much more that you could do...especially compared to the 1st game. i think i spent about 90 something ours on it total. maybe i maxed out the clock.Quote:

honestly, though....as the series progressed some of the quests/missions and story parts became extremely annoying. i remember while playing bn3 feeling that the internet/areas were too big. and you went on so many fetch quests to progress the story. bn4 was at the hight of bn annoyance 'casue you had to beat the game 3 times with increasing dificulty levels before getting all the souls/abilities. i played through 2wice, started up the 3 time (a few months ago) and just gave up on it. i have 1 more soul to get but....blah...i kinda don't wanna bother.

Back to battlenetwork I flat out gave up on three because I was bored out of my skull played about twenty hours too.
Picked up and played a little of 6 today. It's not too bad. I don't like the new charas as much, so far anyway. They're kind of Digimon Season 2. I need more time, but i can see the improvements. MM seems to move a little faster and charging takes no time at all.
i beat bn 6 last night. my ending time was 29 hours and 1 minute. i'll start up another thread with impressions soon.
