Not only that, but the extra content that you could theoretically fit onto BluRay probably won't go on there becauseno one is going to take the time to create it. Going from VHS to DVD was a little different because you couldn't do ANYTHING on the VHS, but now you might just run into the diminshing returns type thing.
your mom is a diminshing returns type thing.
Those are all very important. You're not thinking straight, stop letting my mom go to your head.Quote:

I'm no so sure. I would never, ever have expected movie companies to put in the time and effort they are now doing for DVD extras, and with the initial batch of HD-DVD discs, we're already seeing some nice new types of options and content. I certainly don't think they're going to put in effort that will equal what we saw going from VHS to DVD, but I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. I think extra content is going to be especially important at first, because it'll be an added bonus to help entice people to make the jump.Quote:

I wish everything were in CD jewel cases. My collection of media would take a lot less space :(
I wish Joe Average wasn't stupid to a point that companies have to keep making wacky new case designs for everything, so that they can be told apart. Get a transparent blue DVD case for Blu-Ray, transparent red for HD-DVD, and call it a day.
You people are too stuck on physical media and your ability to share, move, or backup downloaded shit.
What I was talking about was a situation like Steam. You can either buy something in the store or online, you get a product key, and you type it in. You own that copy of the movie. It's yours. It's done. If your computer dies, you redownload it from [company] for free because they still have your product key saved. If you go to a friend's house, you redownload it to watch it there. If you want to make a backup, you select a button that says something similar to "back my shit up" and it puts it on DVD for you. Steam does all of that, and future movie distribution should be like that too.
