My player came in today (Day early, whoooo)... Anyway, NetFlix fucked up again and the movie I rented didn't come in so the only DVD I have to watch on it is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang which I watched a few weeks ago (it's a combo disc). Just in that little bit of watching just to test it out though, it already looks better than anything I've seen on Blu-Ray.
Delaware sucks.
i havent been following with this thread lately, but Mission Impossible 3 on Bluray is going to be VC-1 codec instead of MPEG2.

you know the rumors around the AV world is that Sony isn't even making that themselfs that it's actually made my samsung or one of the others in the BR group
Awesome, this is great news... and I hope it's a trend that follows. I'm happy with my HD-DVD player right now, but if Blu-Ray with it's better amount of storage in the future can use better compression, I'm all for it. As it stands right now, I hate blu-ray, and I think it'll fail... but I won't be angry if I'm proven wrong because it means things will be better... unless HD-DVD fails purely because of PS3 owners... then I'll be pissed :)Quote:

I looked through that list, and there really wasn't anything I cared about that I couldn't get on HD-DVD (and the HD-DVD versions come out sooner)... except maybe a few Lionsgate titles... but still too much MPEG2 instead of VC-1. I should be getting Four Brothers in from NetFlix soon so I can check out another movie, and I just got Serenity and Sky Captain in the mail that I ordered from Amazon and Overstock respectively.Quote:
