I'd go ahead and spend it, but only in the situation that you have a few grand in savings and you're living expenses are pretty cheap. I've gone on a wild spending spree or two with computer hardware but I drive a shitty beat-up car and have most of the other standard expenses (gas, food, insurance, occassional medical bills, etc) so I try to be pretty stingy with my spending habits. In the future it'll come back to be a great thing when you can look and see that you have quite a bit saved up.
Like I said though, if you have a good bit of savings you can spend some money and enjoy whatever you buy, just don't be stupid and think ahead to what might cost you some hard cash in the near/semi-near future.
