That's the freaking point. If it didn't combine two vastly different competitions it wouldn't be interesting.

While it initially sounds like a stupid combination, it kinda makes sense once you think about it. Like a test of wits and athetics in one. You either KO the guy, or hit him so hard he makes a mistake and *bam* checkmate.

Bring this to Wilmington Delaware with some skilled players and I'll give it a view or two. Sounds cool.
