I like the bear!
I had to make a quick logo for Ford today for an internal program they're starting called THE NEXT LEVEL. So I modified it as a doodle for TNL just for kicks:
I like it.
MORE LIKE DRAWBACCA AMIRITE
We do need a catchphrase. I think that one is to the point.
The problem is that this catchphrase goes against the new direction we were supposed to be heading in 3 weeks ago. Though I guess part of the blame for things devolving lies with the mods, who haven't handed out the cards to back up their promises (and I include myself in the list of people that should have been carded this month).
Since I never have an earnest desire to see people get carded, I guess I don't really care all that much.
Very nice drew. For some reason the way the "the" sits at an angle on top of the "N" reminds me of some design republic work (which is a compliment IMO).
Got a new blog post up. I'll post my favorite juicy bits here, as well as two japanimation fanboy pieces I did for shits and giggles.

Enjoy fuckers! =B
*Ok, edited the files to TNL acceptable sizes and for some reason the girl in the sunglasses will NOT upload. I've tried three ways of saving the thing & the uploader just isn't having any of it. So that one is gonna stay as is, and will be a mystery if you only browse from work. Sorry.
It would be awesome if those were attached so that I could look at them.
Ahrhg fuck!
And I just called Mark Ryan out about this in the photography thread. For some reason my workplace doesn't filter out wordpress, so I didn't think about it.
When I get home tonight I'll grab the files and edit them down to a size that TNL will let me upload and attach them. Jeez. Ultra noob move.
They look great. I really like the contrasting blue-orange ones. My favorite is the second one, though. The chick.
Nah, they show up fine. The attach feature has been weird lately anyway.
<3 that fuzzy bee
I didn't think you were busting nuts, but I realized that I totally called MarkRyan over the EXACT same thing in the cellphontography thread. It was just lame of me so I fixed it.
Thanks Drew. That chick is probably my favorite of the bunch too. That finishes off my first moleskine of the year. =)
I think several folks here would like this web comic, if you aren't already aware of it:

I think I'm offended.
He's not talking about you, Bé-kun
Yeah I'm referring to fancy hipsters.

n_n i like Mighty Milky Way. i sent this to WayForward's fanart address and Matt Bozon replied!
That's great man!
Celestial saxophone robot frog?
Thanks guys!
Drew, he's a space T-rex.
You can see him at 1:13. (i didn't make his metal plate big enough)
Who doesn't, really? Skinny ho's gotta go.
WHY DON'T YOU POST SOME DRAWINGS URIEL?
Can I post someone else's drawings for the time being?

Hey, that's a fookin' roode awl.
It really is.
I like it, though. Whoever drew that gets The Two Triangles, Three Circles, unlike that hipster-animals tumblr dude.
I figure this is worth passing along.

When does the furry love scene start?
How pedestrian of you.
Did you draw that? Because if not: garbage in garbage out.
Regardless of if Uriel drew it, I think that was really well done. Yeah, I thought of a furry joke for a second, but the whole idea is great and I think everybody feels those challenges sometimes when drawing, I certainly do. I'd say that's one reason people keep making new things and pushing themselves, to prove they haven't hit a wall or to show themselves they're better than they thought. I dig it.
I didn't draw it.
It's very sappy but a lot of it rings true for an artist.
I loved it!
I thought "and at the end of the comic, I wouldn't give her a dime"
lol art
It's a good comic. Just saying if you're not putting your own stuff up for review talk is cheap.
HEY. DRAWING TIME.
finch draw more stuff!
I just did this fanart for you, finch, it's that patri with a pawg frog.
~ n______n kawaiiiiiiiiiiiiii~~~ ~
That is amazing! I love the falling house and secret character
awesome stuff
Holy shit JM, crazy cool picture! For something like that do you sketch it out first or just jump right in with the ink and see where it goes? Friggin' excellent stuff man.
That dragon's got roads on 'im! Great shit man!
That's awesome its like Shadow of Colossus. Damn good shit.
Real nice movement in that one, JM!
Thanks so much guys! I'm really happy with this. I'll be attempting some colors in photoshop so this may not be the last you see of it.
Not to be too redundant, but I finally got a good scan of it so I'm going to repost it here so it is easier to zoom in on. There is a lot of little crap in this that the shitty phone camera lost. =)

Woah crazy Koopa!
His neck looks like the scary hands of this old lady on the train this morning!
KOOL KOOPA, DUDE! It's scary!
Ol' Mario Mario is gonna be all "what the heck did I just step in".
So I took that ogre guy I drew in my sketchbook the other day and brought it into my iPad and colored it in ProCreate. There is something about this app that feels easier to use than ArtRage... It may just be the uncluttered interface, I'm not sure. Regardless I'm enjoying the app a lot and it is easily worth the $4.99 it is selling for right now (down from $15 for a limited time if I remember correctly.)

I like the colors a lot, looks very good! The only thing I didn't like as much as the original is the eyes: they now seem a little flat. I think the reason I'm seeing that is because the eyes are now a straight black and white while the rest of the picture has a lot of shading and whatnot, but that's my only critique. Great stuff!
What stylus you using JM?
Finger paints FTW! After spending time doing this one I'm really considering picking one up though. I had some claw issues by the time I was done.
no one ever posts here anymore.
I have made some badass angry pictures of lions and frogs being all badass. Here's the one i finished last night.
http://finchiekinstheowl.files.wordp...nlelephant.jpg
So badass. They are violent and sexy, like things people like. Also they are loud and command attention.
I am going to draw a Mega Man boss tonight. I fully expect someone else to do the same.

Moar Lie-ens!!!
yeah, like that
If I were manly enough to rock tattoos I would get that lion. Then all the world would know how manly I was.
Why are they so interested in that frog? It's just a dumb frog.
IT'S A DUMB FROG THAT HAS TAMED AN ALLIGATOR TO LET IT SIT ON IT'S STUPID SPINY HEAD!
That's suppose to be an alligator? I thought it was a slimy green turd.
I'd say your face is a slimy green turd, but I'd prolly get carded or banned.
So I'm not going to say it. Just know that it needs to be said!
Sosajanamu and i are treated unfairly.
You reap what you sow.
Are you reaping cocky butthole right now?
yawn.
moar lie-ens!
If you take requests, may be you can do one of a lion eating all the best Sailor Moon comical books, and the frog and tiger are laughing and laughing and laughing because it's so much fun to ruin sailor moons.
There aren't more.... yet...
There will be more adventures with giraffes and pythons and whales and all sorts of animals. Landon the Lion will go on many adventures.
are they space giraffes?
There could be!
I imagine the Sailors flying around and saying "hey, there's a space giraffe!" and then they stop and try to feed it a space tree branch but the space giraffe bonks the Sailor's space ship with it's head and spits on Uranus.
Who took over SSJN's account?
SSJN is always like this. I think someone took over yore account.
My interest now lies in these space giraffes you speak of...
I'm drawing more luchador stuff. This is just them in a laundry mat doing laundry lookin' bored. My work wants to put up my luchador posters again but want a new one for a larger frame so this might be going in it.
I've been on at-home vacation for the last week and a half. It's been fun to have the time and energy to draw. Lookin' to write some too.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Quote:

Why do i always draw more fun in my sketchbook than i do when i try to draw something real deal? This is how i want my comic to look, but it doesn't. Maybe if i draw some more forever and ever i can draw like that except good.
lol look at that dog's nose!!!
I am dog-sitting this week. this is an opportunity to draw animals i normally don't draw!
I could use some help. I've coloured it but I don't like it as much... I kept the background minimal in colour so the luchadors pop more... I don't know. Any suggestions would be welcome. I can change everything except the colour of the right-most luchadors mask.
p.s. My one idea was to get rid of the subdued BG and do something way more mexican inspired - yellow stucco wall, dirt floor, gaudy decorations, etc.
Most laundromats I've been in have had really harsh overhead lighting, often faulty.
I really like the color of the luchadores. I think the background is kind of weak. The washing machines need to go back farther in space, and they should be bigger. All you have to do to move them back in space would be to raise the ground line up a bit. They'd look better with more variety actually inside the washer machines, like different clothes or patterns at least. I think more empty space between the girl and the luchadores would help separate her from the rest of the picture.
I don't like the chairs at all right now.
I also think you could still go with the yellow stucco wall if you want to, just keep the washers between them and they'll still pop out to the viewer. Still, like yeller said, laundromats have horrible cool-colored fluorescent lighting, and they also have awful white walls.
I love the characters so much, though, i just don't like the background!
I don't mean move them back, i mean give the machines more depth.
Yeah I agree. I'll work on a new BG for the laundromat. Moving the girl over might be harder to do as that's the format I have to work with. Maybe shrinking everything down a bit would work OR making the luchadors bigger entirely so less of the background is viewable and more obscured?
Thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely have to rework that bg entirely.
I don't think you have to really move her, just move the washing machines so there's some more emptiness (negative space) between her and everything else.
The luchadores are great at the size they are. The composition is good, it's just the elements that i don't like.
You could even do something crazy like put the bench that they are on up against the front window of the shop. You could have "LAUNDROMAT" spelled backwards and have it be night time so you have big contrast between your figures and the BG. Just do some receding fluorescent light reflections in the window.
I do like the yellow stucco idea. Anything but that white on white.
I dig the characters for sure. Its good to see you making some personal work again man.
