Why are we still using these pieces of shit? They are like the cars on Pimp My Ride, except with no Xzibit. A fucking 1.6 pound piece of foam sent brave astronauts to their death. The ones we still have are breaking down like arjue's mom after a gangbang and we are still using them? In a country that has the finest universities and the smartest scientists and engineers in the entire world?

Ever since NASA openly said that there were problems with the shuttle that was going to be used in the weekend's launch they have found a few things wrong with it. Open up your wallets and build a new one, assholes.
The space program is a joke anyway.

There are smart people at NASA. Very smart people. Geniuses at every level. I tried to look for jobs there and no way me and my BS degree could pass muster.
There are top-notch engineering and manufacturing facilities across the US. I saw this show about how they built a new submarine, I don't see why similar tools couldn't be used on a new spaceship.
There is plenty of money to go around, and interest in all sectors on space travel.
It's just all fucked up.

Seriously, we can barely putter around in orbit to install satellites anymore. I LOL every time they mention us going back to the moon or to Mars.
Why are they putting off structural mods until after the launch? NASA needs to either fix up the shuttle or shitcan this launch totally. They shouldn't screw around taking such undue risk.

Of all the things our government dumps money into, NASA has the best return. I forget what the exact figure is, but is really good. It's something like for ever $1 put into NASA, their is a $7 return.
It isn’t a party thing either. Stupid repubs want to underfund it because space puts a stick up their religious ass, and the Demos would rather give the money to feed white trash mothers.
Also another fun fact. America spends more money buying gifts for it’s pets, than is put into NASA.

Its an old article so I'm not sure if things changed but seeing as I have yet to hear anything about a new shuttle I guess its still a no go.
