Stop getting married at 20 years old.

My cousin got married 2 days ago. The cousin i laughed at when she said, "I'm NOT A BIBI!" when i called her a baby, the cousin who i stole the pacifier from because i wanted it, the cousin who introduced me to DuckTales, the cousin who i pushed down the stairs when she was afraid to walk down them, the cousin who i reversed the batteries in her BopADuck and broke it... She was 22. I remember when she was a baby. I think that i hate her now

My best friend from high school got married right after college. I decided i hated him afterwards, but... i still hate him for doing that. Then, some stupid girl i really really liked got married... Hint: that's why i'm in New York. Hell, i love NYC, but i don't think i'll ever get over that stupid shit.
And then... people get tax breaks for being married. Fuck that. Fuck marriage.

I don't think that's how it works here.
I believe income tax rates are determined by household income, which would obviously be higher for a married couple.
That's why so many people here don't inform the govt on their tax return when they're living common-law.

you are honestly saying that thats not what you were implying when you said that wal mart needed employees and customers? honestly? im doubting it, im guessing im not too far off by what i was reading into it. theres a slight difference than saying that one wont be as sucessful as one who goes for a full college education, and saying that soemone is going to be trapped in a virtually benefit-free retail hell. I will add that if i was in error, you are, i believe, the only poster on this entire forum for whome working at wal mart does not directly equate monosyllabic redneck nascar cracker.

I'm just talking about the age at which people get married, not whether they've lived together first.
What you say makes sense though.
I suppose marriage would be a much bigger deal if it leads to cohabitating for the first time.
If you live with someone first, then marriage doesn't really change anything, and that probably takes some of the magic out of it.
Maybe people in long term common-law relationships are better off not getting married at all. If it's not broken, don't fix it, and if it is broken, maariage won't fix it anyway.

Actually... It's kind of mixed. Some people get more and some get less. I don't know how it works, but it's something to do with the gap between the earnings. The farther apart, the bigger the break, but if they're close together or even, you could get a nasty penalty, or something.

I didn't know that either until i just looked it up.

I don't see the point.

I've been with my girlfriend for two years, and provided it works out well into the future, we're still going with the plan of never getting married. Perhaps there's a monetary security reason I don't know about, but there's nothing wrong with just living together.
