So wait, our only two options are:

1. Have good benefits, be treated with respect on the job, but have it get moved out of the US next week.

OR

2. to be treated like shit on the job and just thank our corporate overlords that they give anything to us.

That dog won't hunt (and yes, its another perception crafted by corporate culture... "be glad you have this"). It reminds me of how factories and meatpacking companies would treat employees like shit in the 1800s because if you acted up, you'd be fired and there are 50 guys waiting outside to take your place. We moved away from that.

This is the richest nation on Earth. Richest nation the Earth has ever seen. The idea that we cannot give our people the basic things that countries we make fun of (like Canada and France) give to their people - job security, pensions, healthcare - is just pathetic.

But I have my doubts as long as we have government working for Halliburton, Bechtel, Nike, and Coca-Cola. The marriage between government and corporation that has emerged the past 30 years is truly unbelievable.

I highly doubt that. Corporate globalization hurts labor at home. I honestly think if unions were still a force to be reckoned with, they would succeed in putting enough pressure on congress to regulate (ie tarriff the shit) out of companies attempting to move their operations overseas.
Instead, it's "if you unionize we'll just move overseas".

I am 28 and not married yet. However, I have lived with the same girl since I graduated college (getting tired of carrying her sorry ass, lol) and I can tell you this. Once you live together more than 6 months the sex goes down and the god damn nagging goes up.

1) Mike, why the hell can't you wash out your cereal bowl in the morning? this arguement lasted 35 minutes.

2) Mike, I know you just ran 4 miles, and it's 100 degrees out there, but can you hop in your car and go down and get me some flowers for the yard, oh yeah, can you put them in too?

3) Mike, I know that you just flew in from Chicago and you're tired, but my mom and dad are coming out for a cook out, can you go get some beer and steaks, oh yeah, and can you cook for us, and clean up the den?

I really love my girl, however, don't think I haven't pondered what it would be like to make what I do and be single. Nice house, BMW, and a Ducati. I have to settle with, Decent House, 2003 Lexus, and a Yamaha.

You make American companies either too expensive because of worker benefits or too expensive because of tarriffs. Either way, we lose. You can't regulate jobs at companies that are bankrupt.

Well, more often than not, the problem is not caused by the pensions they have to give their workers, but the ones they give their executives. And executives still get a pension even if their employees don't.

Work for your entire lifetime for a company, make it stronger and better, fulfill your obligation to work hard so you can get a pension... and the company shits on you and turns your pension over to the government, which cuts it in half (I've seen it happen, a friend's dad worked for United). Think that happens to these execs?

I don't doubt that at all. We have more VPs than every sovereign nation in the world combined, and 90% of them are fucking worthless.
