It's the same with using grammar. Not enough time is given to it. Kids spend more time finding parts of speech than they do using them. And in highschool it isn't even taught anymore. HS for me was mostly writing assignments, which were easy to get an A on if you got enough people to proof read.
If I ever hold a public office those are things I’d like to see changed. I feel I was done a great disservice as a child by not being taught how to write well. Kids also need a class on statistics and how to handle money before they leave HS. A person should be able to graduate any US school and know how to write a short paragraph and handle his/her checkbook.
