NFL 2006 Season

As the only real receiving threat on the Redskins last year he had almost 1500 yards and 9 TDs despite being constantly double and triple covered. Harrison and Wayne have the benefit of working out of a very good three receiver package and draw alot of single coverage because of that. Plus Moss had fucking Mark Brunell throwing tons of screen passes and underneath dump offs that he turned into huge gains, while Harrison and Wayne get constant bombs from Peyton Manning. Put Moss in an offense that will actually go vertical with a QB that isn't 90 and he'll look like the next Steve Smith. Moss is the real deal.

Also, I hope those trashy Ravens don't make it to the super bowl.

And how much of Moss' production come from just deep passes and bubble screens? How many third downs does he convert, when he's not garnering a cluster of touchdowns every three games? On his best day he doesn't touch the route running and receiving prowess of Harrison or Wayne.

Wrong. The Colts' 2 TE-set has been the primary formation for over a year, and just yesterday Harrison and Wayne were facing double coverage against the Jets. They're just good enough to get seperation (like pwning Mathis last week).

Very little of his production comes from deep passes, because the Skins rarely throw it deep (one game in Dallas last year has skewed everyone's view). He doesn't get nearly as many deep looks as Harrison or Wayne. I would say his production off screens is a point in his favor, because he turns what should be short gains into huge ones. He scored at least one TD in just as many games as Wayne last year. The reason he doesn't get more is because in the red zone the Skins offense mainly consists of Clinton Portis, Clinton Portis, and Clinton Portis, and as I said he doesn't get many deep balls. Alot of his TDs are passes that should have been less than 10 yards that he breaks to the endzone.

I'm not gonna argue that Moss is the best route runner in the world (neither is Smith, and he's the best WR in football). But he has very good hands, is blazingly fast and once you get him into space he's damn near impossible to bring down. He's hampered by Joe Gibbs run first (and second and third) offense and a senior citizen QB but he still manages to put up amazing numbers.

Even with a two TE set the Colts still have two legitimate #1 WRs on the field. The Skins have only have 1, and last year they didn't even have a legit 2 or 3 half the time when Patten was injured.

And as long as we're discussing owning Mathis: 138 yards and 3 TDs.
