Brady is still very good. Everyone has an off game now and then. They have a couple of good TEs and a bunch of number two receivers and Brady seems to make do with that. The real problem with the team is their secondary. The have an excellent front seven and if they can generate enough of a pass rush they can mask it, but when they go up against a good line they can be taken apart like they were tonight (it helps that Peyton was the QB and Harrison and Wayne the WRs).
As a team they're kind of overrated. They haven't beaten any teams with a winning record (and the team they murdered last week that had everyone going apeshit over how good they are again just lost to the Niners). I'd put them at fifth in the AFC (1-4 being the Colts, Ravens, Broncos and Chargers).
He's always had a problem dropping easy passes for no reason. Used to drive me nuts when he played for the Niners (although I obviously find it hilarious now.
IT may come down moreso to like Madden said (Ugh agreeing with Madden) HE doesn't have any go to guy, he doesn't have Donald Driver, or Marvin Harrison in which the two have telepathy.
And I might put them above the Chargers, I haven't been too impressed by some of their performances this year.
I'd still put NE above the Chargers. Rivers makes Grossman look like Dan Marino. Wait until that clown has to actually win a game instead of watching LT go for 172 and 3.
Who won the Bears/Dolphins game? Oh wait, I know, was it these guys?

Brady played like shit last night, no doubt about that. But I wouldn't say he is overhyped, almost all of his receivers this year, he have not even MET until 7 months ago. You can't compare that with Manning + Harrison, there is just no one like that for Brady on our team (Troy Brown is too old/slow now to be the #1 receiver). You can tell that Brady was trying to force alot of the throws last night (the first interception, for example). It seems like Belichick decided that they need to outscore the Colts to beat them. I didn't think the Colts defense were all that but they certainly play very very well last night.
Maybe if NE didn't play hardball with Branch, this game would be alot different. But it seems like the Pats do not want to overpay any WRs.
Honestly though, the Colts wouldn't have lost that game. They play the first half making games look close then they go into their locker room, Manning steps in for the stunt double that plays the first half, gives him a pat on the butt. The guys sit around and drink a few beers while eating pizza between halves, then they go out, run the clock down, and win by a small margin because they wanted to.
Honestly, they've only lost those games in the Playoffs because they really thought it'd be unfair to win every Super Bowl.
Best pregame moment of the week #1: Jerry Jones defending TO falling asleep in a meeting by saying "alot of guys drink a bunch of caffeine, but not TO - the boy doesn't put anything in his body. He really doesn't."
Best pregame moment of the week #2: A panel including Tim Brown and Eddie George is forced to awkwardly discuss how wrong it was for Shawne Merriman to use steroids.
In the interest of fairness, doesn't the guy have a plate in his hand, and played through hand surgery 5 weeks ago without missing a beat? I think that's contributing to his drops this season as much as anything; I don't remember balls clanking off his palms like this in recent years. Short-arming passes, sure, but not the stone hands.
The Cowboys lost that one fair and square. Facemasking is one of those penalties like legwhips and crackbacks you call every time, it doesn't matter if the Superbowl's on the line. You can't fuck around with that stuff, and if the exact same scenario happens to the Giants on Sunday night I'll say the same thing.Quote:

And yet if Faulk doesn't drop two consecutive drive-killing passes at the end they still win that game. I didn't see what you saw - I saw Peyton Manning get harassed and put on his ass repeatedly for the first time in years, and I saw Tom Brady play one of his worst games ever (how many passes did he try and force into triple coverage?) and his team still took it down to the wire. There's no question in my mind NE is a contender; especialy if Brady shows up sober next time.Quote:
