Official Xbox Live Arcade Thread

Microsoft needs to do what they do best and shell out that cash to some of these third parties in order to squelch any Wii exclusivity they may have. Metal Slug 1/2/X on XBLA? Tell me that wouldn't be sweet. Old school/long-lost classics on XBLA? Sign me up. As for shit like Geometry Wars, hell yeah, sign me up.

I agree with Brett. Galaga is boring. At least it was only $5. Frogger is much more fun for me, which last time I checked I was kicking everyone's ass at.

As I side note I've decided to download the trial versions of Outpost and Feeding Frenzy. Both sound interesting and with any luck they'll tickle my fancy and warrant a purchase.

Galaga > Frogger > Ikaruga. Fucking kids these days...

I wish Frogger was a little more forgiving with the collision detection.

I swear I always jump into those little bases (or whatever you call them) like a half second early.

But if Microsoft gives me the party in a box, I'll buy it and start competing with you Moogle.

And don't forget, I've got the top scores in Joust and Gauntlet as well. :)

I dont own either Joust or Gauntlet. I think I played Frogger for 2 hours straight the day I first had a chance to sit down and play it for awhile. Stupid Frogger.

Speaking of Galaga, it seemed like it was everywhere when I was a kid. There were like four in my local mall: one in the arcade, one in the food court, one in Safeway, one in the 7-Eleven. That same mall has zero arcade games now. It amazes me how much things can change.

In general I think early '80s arcade shooters have aged very well. Galaga is cool although I would rank Asteroids Deluxe, Juno First, Omega Race and probably a few others above it.

I'm not a Galaga fan either.

I should really make a "Let's bitch about Galaga: Expressing our anger to those that care" thread to get the Galaga bitching out of this thread and the Offical Xbox 360 thread.

Now Juno First would be a great one. I've tried this on MAME and am surprised Konami hasn't ported this one to something yet. This has one of the first chaining systems in a shooter- shoot down a certain UFO and capture the pilot, then get chain bonuses for the next few seconds on other enemies you kill.
