Official Xbox Live Arcade Thread

I don't know how to play Poker, and this game isn't really helping.

I guess I'll check out bodog.net

Texas Hold'em on XBLA is a terrible implementation of poker over the Internet.

• The game plays slow as molasses. Every prompt has a timer with a delay on it, which only gets sped through when all players acknowledge it. There is also the delay on all animations in-game, even if you have them turned off.
• There is no option for pre-selected options, so that you can set an action (like fold) and act immediately once the action comes on you.
• You can only play one table at a time. Given that this is the 'HD era', the resolution is there to display two games at once, at the very least.
• The only game available is no-limit Texas Hold'em. I know it's called 'texas hold'em', but other games would have been nice. Futhermore, the only options are (up to) eight player sit-and-go tournaments or ring games -- no option for scheduled multi-table tournaments.

You're better off just playing on a site like PokerStars, even if it is just for play money. Ugh.

At least your bad impressions reminded me to go get it while it's free. :D

Yes it does. But I still have some hope for it. I know I've called Minter a one trick pony, (still think he is) but it's a good trick.

I'd still like to see Tempest 3k redone at 60fps.

What's the "one trick"? Tempest, or arcade action? I'll have to disagree is you say Tempest, but if it's arcade gaming then yeah, it's definitely a good trick.

So I picked up Texas Holdem and decided to lose all my money in it.
Maybe I should have played Texas Holdem once before betting all my cash and not knowing what the fuck I was doing? :D

Tonight was definetly my night on Texas Hold'em. I was on fire! Won a tourney-style game. And then won a bunch of money on the normal tables. Made up for all the cash I lost in the morning and then some.

PS: Sorry for stealing all your money Opaque. You got so screwed with your pocket 10s. That sucked ass!
