Motor Kombat.
I've been hearing that 27 or so Xbox Live Arcade games are coming out by year's end. From what I can remember, I'm thinking of Street Fighter 2, Pac-Man, Lumines, Alien Hommid, Sonic, Contra, Super Contra, Small Arms, that wacky Basketballish game.... Any idea what the rest are? I'm still hoping for a 2D style Bomberman game on Xbox Live Arcade. The scene would be insane if it was downloadible for $4 to $10 dollars.
Live arcade sucks. :(
There's also Ms. Pac-Man, but beyond that, I can't find the list that I saw before.
Ms Pac Man was confirmed?

Robotron. Joust, sort of. You can help or compete against each other.
Frogger has an co-op mode, maybe? I haven't really played it much.

A new Phantom Dust would sell me a premium 360 day 1. Hell even an emulated phantom dust on the 360 could justify a system purchase.Quote:

We need to play this ish soon. Maybe a new 2 v 2 tourney if we can get enough people.Quote:

How does Microsoft decide what games it wants on Xbox Live Arcade? Is there a survey or something?
Same here. Last summer I played online a bunch with g0zen, and then completely stopped playing after that. The game fucking rules, which is why people need to start playing it again!Quote:

IGN is doing a 2 part interview with one of the guys behind running XBLA, and it gives great insight into how MS wasn't ready for the mass appeal that XBLA actually recieved when it launched with 360.
Check it out fools.
Good interview.
I'm not trolling one bit. Just stating my opinion that the XBLA concept is a great idea that's being squandered. I'll shut up about it for now and see what happens in the fall.Quote:

Rally-X (Namco) - I remember enjoying it when I played Namco's PS1 Anthology Vol. 1, so maybe.
Contra (Konami) - Maybe. Online co-op differentiates this from playing it on a PC or Xbox.
Super Contra (Konami) -Ditto
Track & Field (Konami) - Button mashing is not my thing.
Time Pilot (Konami) - Don't know
Scramble (Konami) - Don't know
Defender (Midway) - I could play this in Midway Arcade Treasures.
Paperboy (Midway) - Ditto
Root Beer Tapper (Midway) - Ditto
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Midway) - The only reason I'll get this is if all of TNL buys it.
Sonic the Hedgehog High Speed (Sega/Microsoft) - I have Sonic Mega Collection, so I'll pass.
Lumines Live! (Q Entertainment) - Definite purchase. I don't own a PSP, but I always wanted to try this game.
Heavy Weapon (PopCap Games) - Probably not.
RoboBlitz (Naked Sky Entertainment Inc) - Don't know.
Mutant Storm Empire (PomPom) - Nope.
Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting - Yes, but I'll need a stick first.
Texas Hold`em - Nope
Small Arms - I'm hoping this Smash Bros. clone turns out well
Hoopworld - What?
Mad Tracks - Huh?
Alien Hominid - Yup. Always wanted to pick up the GC version
Castle Crashers - New 4-player beat-em-up? Sign me up.
Ms. Pac-Man - Even with the speed hack, I don't know. If it has a 2-player mode like the SNES version, then definitely.
First read the interview I posted like 2 posts up, then let me know why it's being squandered. Because really, I think Microsoft has done a great job with XBLA so far, especially considering it was completely unknown on whether the service would actually catch on or not.Quote:

I'm actually pretty excited to see what they've done with Sonic. I think it may be a port of Sonic 1, but something keeps nagging at me that they added or changed things.
I also got my email back from Microsoft about my "Party in the box." They just bought me Street Fighter, half of Pac-Man, music and dinner next week! Thanks Microsoft! Pictures will follow after the party.
I'm in on all of these. The new stuff because it's the hotness and the old stuff for Online co-op.Quote:

XBLA does need some better choices for retro arcade games. Where are games like Pac-Man Arrangement, Pac-Mania, Dig Dug Arrangement, Galaga '88, Time Pilot '84, etc.?
OTOH, the Contra titles sound interesting.
As I said in the other thread- Juno First!, please. If we've got Galaga, then we deserve a game that really knows what arcade action is about. Check it out in MAME if you haven't before.
James
Awesome game but I don't think Konami cares too much about it since it wasn't popular.Quote:

Seriously I hate most of the Konami "classics".
Time Pilot, Gyruss, Yie Air Kung Fu, etc.
Konami got awesome about 2 years after all that dreck came out (Contra, Gradius, Castlevania, et al) but if you've ever seen one of those Konami Classics discs, you know what I mean.
Frogger was pretty good though.
In order for those to come out, they'd have to port the originals first. Otherwise, it's almost like them admitting the original versions are dated. (Time Pilot and TP 84 are equals pound for pound, though Galaga 88 is a bit superior to Galaga.)Quote:

I'd really like to fix that. :(
I have been playing some Cloning Clyde, it is a fun game. Geen is in the lead on the leaderboard, I have to beat him!
So I was perusing Gamefaqs (which I do from time to time ;o) and came across Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Volume 1. It sseems to be a compilation of some of the games on XBLA. I'm not sure which games are on this or how much it is going to cost, but it might be worth checking out if you don't have the games yet and want to wait a little while...
I know you have mentioned your NAT problem before, but I've also noticed several ppl having connecting issues on Uno before. Anyways, you missed out on some crazy games. I"ll be free tomorrow night to play some more Arcade games.Quote:

Why? I have no idea. I'm just bored.
Hey Konami, why dont you scrap those shitty 80s arcade games and give us some sweet online 4 player co-op Arcade Ninja Turtles? That would be better than 99% of all Live arcade games.
Heck...they still have the liscence. :DQuote:

How can anyone have played Ikaruga and think Galaga is anything but my previous complaints?
Because you really can't find two more distant ends of the same spectrum?
You've (probably) got three cases right here, at least.
... Ikaruga and Galaga are completely different games. Seriously, I don't know what your problem with Galaga is, but give it a rest. It's just getting sad at this point.Quote:

I agree with Brett. Galaga is boring. At least it was only $5. Frogger is much more fun for me, which last time I checked I was kicking everyone's ass at.

Galaga > Frogger > Ikaruga. Fucking kids these days...
I wish Frogger was a little more forgiving with the collision detection.
I swear I always jump into those little bases (or whatever you call them) like a half second early.
But if Microsoft gives me the party in a box, I'll buy it and start competing with you Moogle.
And don't forget, I've got the top scores in Joust and Gauntlet as well. :)

Speaking of Galaga, it seemed like it was everywhere when I was a kid. There were like four in my local mall: one in the arcade, one in the food court, one in Safeway, one in the 7-Eleven. That same mall has zero arcade games now. It amazes me how much things can change.
In general I think early '80s arcade shooters have aged very well. Galaga is cool although I would rank Asteroids Deluxe, Juno First, Omega Race and probably a few others above it.
I'm not a Galaga fan either.
I should really make a "Let's bitch about Galaga: Expressing our anger to those that care" thread to get the Galaga bitching out of this thread and the Offical Xbox 360 thread.
Now Juno First would be a great one. I've tried this on MAME and am surprised Konami hasn't ported this one to something yet. This has one of the first chaining systems in a shooter- shoot down a certain UFO and capture the pilot, then get chain bonuses for the next few seconds on other enemies you kill.Quote:
