So apparently Castlevania: SOTN is going to be coming to Arcade. This is pretty sweet news as the game itself retails for $25 used and is difficult to find. This comes from the recent EGM and does not give a date on when we will be able to play as our favorite vampire hunter on our 360.

Yeah, I don't want to hear crap about companies not being able to make their own converters on the 360. It wouldn't be something that would be common in America, but I think this goes ahead and proves it can be done, if, at nothing else, it would be a little expensive.
Let's see-
July 11- Prey
July 12- Chromehounds
July18- NCAA Football 07
August9- Dead Rising
August 16- Ninety Nine Nights
August 22- Madden 07
Looks like a release per week for me, barring the Prey/Chromehounds thing. Of course,if you look one week ahead the pattern falls apart completely.

When does Texas Hold 'em come out? And will it teach me to play poker? Because I don't know.
Comes out Wednesday, I believe. Poker is pretty easy to pick up. I'd be surpirsed if they didn't have at least some guides in place to show the basics.Quote:

I'm going to regret doing this, but here's a link to work-in-progress shots of Llamasoft's Live Arcade game.

The rude words are a tradition started in the Unity days as a way to hopefully dissuade people from thinking early dev shots are 100% representative of the final game.

I'm so psyched for this game - it's going to be crazy. I love the fact that it's only going to be $5, will work with music stored on the HD and will contain Vision Camera-enabled Neon effects.Quote:

Late fall, but like a lot of Live Arcade stuff it all depends on MS publishing it after it's completed. I'm betting it'll be long done before we actually get to play it.
James
I don't know how to play Poker, and this game isn't really helping.
I guess I'll check out bodog.net
Texas Hold'em on XBLA is a terrible implementation of poker over the Internet.
- The game plays slow as molasses. Every prompt has a timer with a delay on it, which only gets sped through when all players acknowledge it. There is also the delay on all animations in-game, even if you have them turned off.
- There is no option for pre-selected options, so that you can set an action (like fold) and act immediately once the action comes on you.
- You can only play one table at a time. Given that this is the 'HD era', the resolution is there to display two games at once, at the very least.
- The only game available is no-limit Texas Hold'em. I know it's called 'texas hold'em', but other games would have been nice. Futhermore, the only options are (up to) eight player sit-and-go tournaments or ring games -- no option for scheduled multi-table tournaments.
You're better off just playing on a site like PokerStars, even if it is just for play money. Ugh.
At least your bad impressions reminded me to go get it while it's free. :D
Yes it does. But I still have some hope for it. I know I've called Minter a one trick pony, (still think he is) but it's a good trick.Quote:

Tonight was definetly my night on Texas Hold'em. I was on fire! Won a tourney-style game. And then won a bunch of money on the normal tables. Made up for all the cash I lost in the morning and then some.
PS: Sorry for stealing all your money Opaque. You got so screwed with your pocket 10s. That sucked ass!
I went into a tournament and went all in with two pair (3's and Aces) and the other guy won on the last card getting a boat.
I'm so unlucky at poker.
For anyone who's interested, Fatal Fury Special to hit Xbox Live Arcade:
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6156462.html
I'm interested. Hopefully, I'll have internet access again by the time it hits.
The more fighting games the better. And especially if they're deeper than SFII Hyper Fighting.
Bring on UMK3 pls.
This is sweet... I hope this trend continues with 2D fighters on Live.Quote:

It definitely hasn't aged as well as SFII. It's still a lot better than FF1-2, AoF1-2, or any of the SNK's other really old fighters. I agree with Beefy that SSII is a requirement though.
My hope is that SNK does a good job with the netcode for Fatal Fury Special. If it's as good (or better) than KOF 2003's XBL netcode, then it will humiliate Capcom to take online netcode more seriously in their future XBLA titles.
I wanted to see what 360 goes for on best buy's monthly payment program, but they told me it'll add $50 for interest by the time I'm done.
Bastards.
Bank account + willpower + same payment schedule self-enforced = 360 quicker & cheaper than any monthly payment thing.
James
What's that "w" word mean?
Played some Texas Holdem online tonight. I won vs some really stupid assholes. I now have over 1 million in my competitive bankroll. Bitches.
Man you really need to put the controller down and give me some time to catch up in GP. I should really take advantage of the employee benefit of taking games home for 4 days to get some easy gamerpoints.Quote:

There is an auto update now available for 'Street Fighter II’ Hyper Fighting.' Xbox Live users will be automatically prompted to accept this auto update the next time they sign in to Xbox Live with SF:II. When I asked what the update does, I got this from the marketing team:
The title update will address connection and time out issues that have been reported by players. In addition, the Leaderboards will be cleared in order to offset players that have cheated by causing intentional disconnections.
SF2:HF just got patched. As reported by Major Nelson:
From my limited playtesting, the lag seems just as bad as it was before, and people in quarter matches still constantly get disconnected, and cheaters can still save rank by disconnecting. Awesome patch.Quote:

SNK sucks ass.
Sign me up for the irrational club SNK > Mortal Kombat (anything).
This is one time when being irrational isn't so bad. :sneak:
The FFS bit was the best news I've heard about XBLA lately. I'd like to see SNK Playmore bring over more than just fighters though- NAM 1975, Last Resort, Viewpoint (I'm sure they could work a deal with Sammy for this one), and some ADK games would be nice for variety.
So Time Pilot is out and it has 2 player co-op over Live.
I just played the demo... I like how they improved the graphics like Frogger. Shame the demo is only one level, but it makes sense considering that there are only like 5 in the game and it just gets harder as you go along. I used to play this game all the time in the arcade, so I'll definitely be picking this up when I get some more marketplace points... waiting a bit though.
Time Pilot still kicks ass. Good to know that some things are ageless.
It's really too bad that co-op sucks. Two people play their own game of Time Pilot, with no interaction, while combining score. It's co-op in a way, I suppose, but hardly worth the effort.
James
But this isn't the original version is it? The sound is remixed, and it's a lot harder; I've only once been able to loop it. I used to own the cabinet and would consitently loop it twice with no problem (in fact, we got rid of it because it got boring). I'm not complaining, though. I'm really surprised that it was this game that aged well and not Galaga.
You can set the visuals and sound to original in the options mode, but the difficulty is about what I remember. I'll have to check out in MAME to see if the parachute guys disappear as quickly on the old version as they do on the new, though.
James
I just checked it out in MAME and, sure enough, they do. Although the original gives you a split second offscreen time, instead of XBLA's insta-gone. It's not really important, though.
James
A great shooter from around when I was born hehe. In short each level is a different time period, after you defeat a predetermined number of enemies, the boss shows up... beat the boss, move on. You get bonus bonus for killing a formation, and other bonus points for saving people in parachutes.
Oh you could save the dick in the ass and just wait for it since it'll happen.Quote:

What's good about TP co-op is that if you die early, you can watch and learn from your partner.
That's a chance I'm not willing to take.
I don't know, I had pretty much no fun play Texas Hold'em.
I'm sure it would be better playing with TNL kids, or maybe if I won a lot, but when you lose and there's nothing that you actually lose, it's just boring.
I played with a few last night, it was cool. But, yeah, I see your point. Maybe gambling with Achievement Points would've been a neat idea.
I cleared 290,000 (a bit more, actually) the other night while half-asleep. 300,000 is sitting there taunting me.
The "Shoot 10 bombs on level 1" achievement took me forever. I had to do one game devoted to just messing around in order to earn it. All I've got left is "Survive to 2001" and I've cleared all achievements, but I don't see it happening soon.

Another Indie title coming to XBLA
With some exceptions (read: Geometry Wars), the best selling games on XBLA tend to be games that people remember playing in their childhoods. On the other hand most of the best rated games tend to be from Indie developers. Due to this, and due to the manner of XBLA, it should be no surprise that many of the winners and runner-ups at the Independent Games Festival (IGF) are, or will, be coming to the service. It seems that this trend is continuing with a sequel to the 2005 IGF - Audience Choice Award in the Web/Downloadable category, N.N has a description of:
Metanet with Klei Entertainment are working on the sequel dubbed "N+" and will be adding such features as cooperative and competitive multiplayer. You can check out the original N here and see how addicting the gameplay is for yourself. N+ is currently slated to be released June 2007.We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.Quote:
In N, the player controls a ninja with a thirst for gold, trapped in a world of well-meaning, inadvertently homicidal robots. N is a unique 2D puzzle / platformer which adds modern physics simulation to classical game play; the addictiveness of tetris, the simplicity of pacman, and the intangible hilarity of ninja dismemberment.

Which game comes out tomorrow?
Scramble.
N is really awesome, you can easily get it for the PC. It can be a little frustrating at times, but it's just pure platforming, jumping heaven.
n is sweet, this is great news.
I downloaded this game and it rules. XBLA is starting to flex its muscle
P.S. Here's hoping it ships with a different set of levels because I'll be playing this right now.
If it ships with co-op or competetive play over Live it'll be fucking hot shit ragardless of wether or not it has new levels.
Speaking of I can't find it anywhere, does anyone know where to find an up to date list of announced games or release dates for XBLA? Someone posted an older on a while ago, and now I'm trying to search for a new one and it's just no where to be found.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live_Arcade
That's the best resource I have seen TBH
Hell of a lot of good games on that list.
That's actually exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks Joust.
Darwinia imo.
pls blv.
who the fuck is Opaque. gtfo noob.
Darwinia is crazy recent. At this rate, XBLA needs Trackmania Original.
How are you not freaking out over N?
I thought you loved that game?
I actually just came back to post the following:
Console price drop please. If they're getting developers as small as the N folk, that opens a few doors. Kenta Cho needs in.Quote:

Day one.
Moonbase Commander and I buy 360.
Is there any way to add joystick support to the PC version of N?
Time Pilot has aged wonderfuly. Its just as kick ass as I remember it being.
Frogger can suck a dick. Its just as slutty as I remember it being.
P.S. I completed Galaga's achievements and I am proud of myself.
Time Pilot does rule. And Neo, would Joy2Key (or the otherway around) work? I was thinking of trying that but I have gotten pretty adept with the keyboard after a few minutes.
I don't like it. And I love old-school arcade games.
I always fucking try to get in the home a split second too early and it kills me. That's why I didn't buy it. Better collision detection pls.
Good, now work on Pacman.
I know how to play now, and it's pretty fun.
