Bubble Bobble would rock with 2-player co-op, but I have to agree with Opaque. I'd like to see more '90s titles come to Live Arcade. Capcom should hook us up with 2-player Knights of the Round or something.

I still have a slight hope for Battletoads the Arcade Game to come to XBLA sooner or later. I really do hope whatever this "major franchise" they are going to announce coming to XBLA over the next week is a new entry in said franchise, not just Mappy with leader boards or whatever.
No shitty tired beat-em-ups or retro stuff I don't already own on countless compilations plz.
I want puzzle games or neat turned based stuff. Shit, I'd even settle for some board games.
I'd rock everyone in Hungry Hungry Hippos.
Connect Four pls.
I wasn't predicting the major game, I was just noting something else that could happen along the lines of Rare-made games.
Turtles would be cool, either arcade game would be nice. "Ohhh, shell shock!"
I wonder if they could shrink Warcraft 2 down to 50MB. Now that would make for a major announcement, especially if they could promise Starcraft after. Even stripping most video and audio out, that's probably still outside size limitations though.
James
I thought they threw the limits out.
Pretty sure they did.
LOL @ everyone thinking something great is coming to XBLA. Its probably going to be some piece of shit none of us wanted to play.
then again it could be that Symphony of the Night is come out sooner than expected!!! lol
No because that was announced (or was it? I know I saw the original article but I am still skeptical that it is even planned).
I thought tomorrow's release was already known (Lumines Live).
Tomorrow's release is Dig Dug... Lumines is apparently "indefinitely delayed".
Tomorrow is when all that X06/TGS content starts hitting, too.
^^^ Most definitely... we're probably going to see that on Wii.
What, Lumines? Maybe.
Axelay
No new XBLA games as of an hour ago.
Wow Dig Dug... XBLA = totally fulfilling its potential.
isn't UMK3 supposed to come out on xbla in september?
Xbox 360 Fanboy is reporting that the "MAJOR", unannounced franchise coming to XBLA is actually four:
Gyruss
New Rally-X
Rush'n Attack
Yie Ar Kung Fu (Japan only)
Wow, the disappointment never ceases. MEGATON strikes again.
lol Dig Dug...
says the guy who bought and finished the Galaga achievements =(
I would consider Lumines, but XBLA definitely needs to step it up. I guess the whole point is to honestly make available cheap, 100 year old score games with achievements and leaderboards, which is not really that bad an idea.
But Lumines would be nice.
The best of that bunch isn't even coming to the U.S. Lame.
I'd still buy Gyruss, but these games should be like, 200 points. Fuck paying $10 for 20-year-old games.
I fucking hate megaton announcments. Where is this so called major franchise? Rush n Attack?...
Gyruss for the win though!
Next Gen has an interesting article on how much it costs to develop an XBLA title. It's a lot more than I originally thought.
Gyruss is hot. So long as they put in two-player mode, I'm in.
Gyruss and Rush 'n Attack rule. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, so I am happy with this.
Has Taito signed on for XBLA yet? Ninja Warriors (the widescreen one w/the sick zuntata ost) would be sweet.
Elevator Action Returns and Rastan would rock as well.
Still no new games for xbla?
Gyruss and Rush'n Attack make me happy. I'd still rather have that elusive beast spoken of only in hushed whispers, "something new", but I'll take some good classics so long as they're really cheap. Buy why would Yie Ar Kung Fu be Japan only? That's just plain stupid.
James
According to The Magic Box, Konami is announcing 6.
"Konami announced they will be showing 6 Xbox Live Arcade games at Tokyo Game Show, including Yie Ar Kung-Fu, Rush 'n Attack, Track & Field, Gyruss, Contra and Super Contra."
If true, that makes Contra the major franchise.
Contra was shown during the E3 '06 XBLA trailer.
Oh really? Didn't know that. Either way, it's more major than the other games on that list! Ha.
So I've figured out whats wrong and i now have some points. I've bought Uno, Texas Hold'em, and Marble Blast Ultra, and have 1000 points left. What do you guys recommend I get with it?
Considering that they're interviewing the developer of an original title that takes more advantage of the 360's graphics engine than any other game on Arcade, I'm going to assume they're not really referring to the cost of ports. I highly doubt porting Galaga costs anywhere near even 1/3 of what it cost to develop Marble Blast Ultra.
Definitely Geometry Wars if you liked Mutant Storm and the like. You can always download the trial version of any game though.
If anybody needs uno, I have a code for it from my camera, pm me, and the most popular person gets it.
So who has Smash TV?
I recommend it to everyone, I just beat it last night (takes about an hour) but how in the hell can anyone beat that game without continuing to get the Game Master acheivement! It just can't be done!
I have it. Had the high score too, until Josh ruined it.
i don't get how they post your high score. My high score is like 18 million but on the leader board it says 240k
Is it like a reduced score?
Mech got uno because he hooked me up with the MMPR Movie soundtrack a long time ago. After that it would have been K3V, and in last place was Jonas since he has his hand in maybe the worst webcomic I've ever read.
I'll be on my 360 for a lot of the night, throw me an invite for Uno when you guys get something together.
Not just Ninja Warriors, but Darius I & II also would be nice.
The Rush'n Attack news rocks. Hopefully the response to this will make Konami want to follow it up with M.I.A.~Missing in Action sometime.
It is a damnable sacrilege that Yie-ar Kung Fu is going to be a Japan only release. Hopefully there'll be a Japanese version of XBLA Unplugged sometime with this on it.
If the "major franchise" is Tetris, I'd like to see TGM 2 or TGM 3 (with its crazy Shirase mode, where you can have up to 180 blocks a minute coming down). IMO Arika sort of held back somewhat on TGM ACE.
Metal Slug to XBLA?

According to a pamphlet being handed out at the Tokyo Game Show by SNK Playmore, a version of Metal Slug is being brought to Xbox Live Arcade. From the look of the art at SNK's booth this may be Metal Slug 1 coming to XBLA. The text on the pamphlet translates to "the original."
SNK Playmore does not list a release date in the pamphlet for the Metal Slug title. Given the sketchy history Microsoft's had with Xbox Live Arcade titles of late (hello, Lumines) -- we're betting Metal Slug will appear on Xbox Live Arcade in 2007.
Metal Slug X and 3 are the only ones worth a shit.
I severely doubt it's going to be one of the TGM games -- the Tetris Company has had a longstanding beef with Arika (over little implementation details, the biggest being Arika's steadfast refusal to fully implement SRS). This also explans the world/classic toggle in TGM3 and some of the less welcome changes in TGM4.
The only thing that makes me wonder otherwise is that the producer of the series hinted at an XBLA release of one of the older games on his blog a while back. If that happened it would probably be like SF2:HF on XBLA -- not available in Japan, where it would be seen as a threat (serious or otherwise) to both the arcade and retail X360 versions.
Yes, that would be the business if it actually happened... although the thought of playing T.A. Death/Shirase on a X360 pad is just uggggggggggggh.
I adore Smash TV.
I can see myself not dying in stage 1 before, but the whole game? Never. Ever.
I'm up for a co-op game to finish off the achievements, though.
I never add people to my friends list, but I'll accept requests. Everyone else has long or retarded names I'm not going to spell out letter by letter. I'm just Mzo.
ALSO, UNO is the bomb, son. If it comes with the Vision like I think Chux mentioned to me I'm all about that. I used to play UNO with the black kids at school all the time, I love it.
SRS is Super Rotation System, with less strict wall-kick rules than the original ARS (i.e. TGM 1 & 2). TGM3 has a similar system called "World", while its "Classic" mode is ARS.

ColourThief discusses ARS.
When you are playing with SRS, the Tetramino doesn't lock until the delay expires. You can move or rotate the piece to stall the lockdown - you can spin it infinitely. Apparently that's one reason the checkpoint timer is added in TGM ACE. Pushing up will do a 20G drop on the piece and lock it down immediately.
Sounds retarded. Thanks for the info.
The more non-80's games, the better.Quote:

TotemBall bouncing onto Xbox Live
Camera-compatible game to be downloadable for free on Xbox Live Arcade starting early tomorrow morning.

Some of the first Xbox Live Vision camera customers noticed something peculiar when they opened up the peripheral's packaging: the complete absence of the Xbox Live Arcade game TotemBall that Microsoft said would be included in the package. However, while the publisher didn't get the game in the box at retail, those who purchased the camera will soon be able to download it for free.
Microsoft today announced that it will release TotemBall on the Xbox Live Marketplace a few hours from now, at 1 a.m. PT on October 4. While it will be free for all users to download, it won't do much good for those without the Vision peripheral, as the game requires the camera attachment.
In TotemBall, players will use gestures read by the camera to control characters and help protagonist Pterry the Pturtle collect a number of lost musical totems and return them to his tribe. TotemBall is rated E for Everyone and was developed by British studio Strange Flavour. It is published by New York-based Freeverse Software.
I'll DL it, so it's there if and when I find the camera.
Totem Ball can suck my balls. Give me some real game damnit. No more shitty early 80s games either. I've had my fill thank you. I'll scream if Ms PacMan and DigDug are the next two releases.
Warlords ftw.
A competent Tetris Attack clone would be ace, too.
I'd down to hook up with Smash TV again now that my job schedule is a bit less hectic -- there's still a few co-op achievements that I wanna get and it's still a fun classic game to play. Also looking to get back into Gauntlet, Burnout or Uno if people are still playing that.
Bacon: Basically any type of Tetris installment would rock right about now.
Tempest 2000, please.
I thought Shidoshi's Galaga score was insane, and then I added Korly. WTF, dude?
Add me.Quote:

I don't care how bad it is because it's free. Also, when I get a camera I'm going to want something to use it on and this will fit the bill. Did I mention it's free?
I was so close to busting 100k last night, and then some random enemy somehow threaded its way though 5 shots and took out one of my ships. Single fire sucks and I got wasted with the quickness.
I'm still trying to beat James' high scores in Time Pilot and Robotron. Your days at the top are numbered.
EDIT: Actually, QuiettStorm has a fairly ridiculous high score in Robotron. Bad form!
Haha, I see Melf's on Galaga now too. I just broke 100k, you wont beat Shidoshi before I do Melf! I won't let you!
Damn, now I gotta go play more Galaga, I want to be NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!
I hate Galaga. Always have, always will. :(
Talking about wanting to finally beat Korly (that's who it was) must have lit a fire under my ass or something... went in, played, and ended up with 239,050. If it hadn't been for one dumb mistake, it would have been even more.
Actually, as much as I used to play Galaga in the arcade, I never, ever got close to getting the scores that I'm at now. Getting it for XBLA has been the first time in my life I've "seriously" played the game.
I've gotten in the 300k's in the arcade, but my highest is here on XBLA for some reason. The controls translate well, considering it's just left and right.
I've been trying to hit number 1 on Hexic HD. I made it except for marathon mode, i think I'm in like 4th now. I'm missing a few people on my friends listfrom here though, so I may be beat and not even know it.
I'd be down for some Uno or Burnout, Bahn. I think I need to put my wireless bridge somewhere else because I get an echo in voice chat that is aggravating beyond belief.
