I'm not anti-Israel by any means, and I generally support them in most of the conflicts they've been in, but it's ridiculous to say or imply that if someone disagrees with the actions of the State of Israel, they must be anti-Semetic.

I agree with your stance on homophobe but the right is fond of calling people anti-semitic even if they disagree with the Israeli government's policies or how they act. You can see it in action on any right wing blog. Like I said yesterday, I think what Israel is doing now is evil. Does that make me an anti-semite? To many righties, yes it does. Nevermind the fact I never said anything about Jewish people or their right to exist.

I'm definitely not for giving allies a free pass, even if they do get an initial benefit of the doubt. The one positive thing that could come out of this is that if Israel continues to make itself look more like Iran than the US or GB, then we may not have a good enough reason to worry about the region. Let it implode, so long as it stays there.

And also, though I really hate the word "homophobe" for what it implies, people against gay marriage are generally taking the "gay" part of it into consideration, because it's pretty much impossible to have an opinion about it otherwise. People talking about Israel, on the other hand, don't have to take its religion into consideration when discussing the country's political actions, because frequently the two only share a casual connection at best. The gay marriage comparison would be closer to people who disagree with the actions of the vatican, where it's pretty much impossible to not consider the religion.

Agreed. It was just an example to which everyone could relate.
