Batman: The Dark Knight

I'm going to go with Andrew and Nirvana on this one.

A lot of people on SHH! Forums hated ... HATED. The look of the Batmobile from Begins. But after they saw it in action they loved it. We don't know what the purpose is and what it can do. Its okay to criticize. It's fine to speak your mind. But when you start screaming Batman has to go back to the original comic book look. You have to be insane. Batman in the Comic is like in his Mid to Late 30's. Batman in Begins is in his Mid to late 20's. I am still staying with my opinion that he's still learning. He's still new to the crime fighting thing and has to adjust himself to this still.

BTW; X-Men I agree with. They could have made it work, but Bryan Singer wanted them to look like gay bikers from the Blue Oyster Bar.

More than likely a fake, but the guy went through a lot of trouble to make it seem real. The only problem is that you can only pick up bits of dialogue.

you might as well put nipples on that suit. it's not like it can get much gayer.

they did such a good job at setting up the the sequel at the end of begins, but with the new suit/batbike it's really looking cheesy. they shoulda just did a serial killer movie with batman playing the detective.

still optimistic overall, but starting to get a little sketchy .

I'm guessing you mean arbitrary in the sense of: Determined by chance, whim, or impulse, and not by necessity, reason, or principle? If so, then please explain why you feel that an idea which was started not by ideas backed with reason or sensible decisions but instead because line artists wanted to demonstrate their ability to draw the human form makes for a good transition to a medium where that purpose cannot exist?

Maybe you don't like the particular design (such as how that bike does look like a G.I. Joe toy) but arguing the idea behind it doesn't make much sense, from both purposeful and source material angles.

p.s. There's something really hilarious about you trying to argue that the comic look is superior by bringing up a series of movies so successful that two of the installments are in the top fifteen biggest opening days ever (both were top five of all time when they came out) and the first was in the top ten biggest three-day opening weekends ever as a counterpoint. Sounds to me like their oh-so-butchered look translated pretty fucking well.

The new Batsuit looks like the one from the end of Dark Knight Returns.

No matter what it looks like it's not going to be stupid. Have some faith in Nolan, he is good.

Which would seem to be true, since that looks nothing like the officially released image. I wish that was the look of The Joker, that is fucking awesome looking. Oh yeah, and fuck all you whiners complaining about the bat bike thing and the new bat suit. After Batman Begins, Nolan can take all the liberties he needs to create the film as he sees fit. He did such a fantastic job with Begins that you should have no reason to doubt him based off of a few still images.

And Comparing Christopher Nolan to Joel Schumacher is just outrageous, none of the decisions he has made that have been shown publicly about the movie even slightly reflect anything from Schumacher's films.
