reading that brought a smile to my face. i have not once expected anything less from this film since they announced Ledger.
I'm now going to do what I should have done in the first place, and shut up about the design work until I see the movie. I still think it sucks, but it sounds like the script is doing the job.
Doing the 7 minute preview is probably the smartest way to counter negative buzz on the inter-web I've ever seen.
Have other movies done this?
I think the extended preview strategy was sparked by the Animatrix short/M.Reloaded prelude tacked onto Dreamcatcher.. which was likely inspired by the Star Wars I trailer featured on Meet Joe Black.. other movies like Chronicles of Riddick, 300 and Serenity showed 10-minute previews online, not in theaters.
