Why is this in VB?
I guess he thought he'd get a quicker answer?
Moved.
PS2 is around 100 mil, Xbox and GameCube are around 20 mil.

So the PSP is in fact outselling the DS, even though it came out much later.
Also, it is amazing that in 2002 the PS2 sold more systems than the Xbox or GC did in their entire lifetimes.
Huh! So it is. And here I was under the impression that the PSP wasn't doing so well.Quote:

I do not know what is going on or if I just missed something obvious but for now I have decided that it is a stupid sales chart for jerks.
For a while wasn't sony only giving numbers of units shipped on the psp?
I here there are other countries besides the UK, Japan, and US, and some of them play videogames.Quote:

Actually I expected to get flamed for posting instead of googling. THat's why I put it in VB.
Nah, this isn't easily Googlable. It's safe from trolling.Quote:

Or it could be the fact that the PSP has better hardware and games.
The best world wide figures I can find are 10-13 for the DS and about the same for the psp. I got differen't numbers from a lot of different sites, so pretty much who knows. Whatever they are there very close regardless.
Better hardware, yes. Better games, that's debatable. Sales and quality are two separate issues though.
It's puff, puff, pass not puff, puff, puff, etc.... ;)Quote:

The DS is handily outselling the PSP in Japan I think, like 60-40 or maybe even 65-35. Not the case in the rest of the world.
Im not trying to diss the DS here (really!) but I think Japan's "taste" is becoming very very different from the rest of the Earth. The market is quite different from Europe and the US and that difference is growing. That has MAJOR implications for the future.
Oh, it's much more dire than that. DS has been selling 150k+ a week (and often closer to 200k) over there for a while, whereas PSP's moving 40-50k on a good week. The ratio is closer to 75-25.Quote:

edit: anyone else notice that Yoshi is so fast to bring sales into the Xbox/PS2 debates but discounts them immediately here?

this is a chart from GAF of LTD sales by month of PSP and DS for the US the DS is ahead in total sales by 1/2 a million or so
http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f6...SHandhelds.png
in Japan its a HUGE gap, I can't find the chart for Japan on GAF but it's out there some where
I believe in Europe the PSP was outselling the DS untill Nintendogs came out and then sales turned around and the DS is now ahead of it in overall sales
Wow, currently the DS and PS2 are outselling the 360, and the fucking GBA is outselling the PSP.
Don't believe videogamecharts.com. DS sales worldwide are well past 20 million right now. PSP's nowhere close (unless you count bare shipments, which is what Sony will always advertise). In the US, DS has jumped ahead of PSP by more than half a million in the past couple months (since DS Lite launched in June, DS has already sold nearly 1 million units in the US alone). It's much worse in Japan. Even in Europe, DS is ahead of PSP sales. DS is far and away the fastest selling video game system of all time, as far as I understand. Fastest selling to 5, 10 and 20 million worldwide.Quote:

Nintendogs is still selling 100,000 monthly in the US. Over 7 million units worldwide.
I literally lol'd. :DQuote:
