While I enjoyed the original Disgaea on PS2, I didn't think it was anywhere near the pinnacle of the genre. However, I think this style of game is perfect for the PSP, so I am definitely interested in this one.

It is the original. Straight port + bonus dungeon. I'll pass, too cutesy by half.
When they first announced this wasn't it supposed to be a new Disgaea game? I loved the first one but I don't know if I would pay 35 - 40 bucks to play it again just because it's portable. I really hoped this was going to be a new game, ohh well.
I wasn't all that interested in the game when it was actually new. But if I had a psp I bet I would end up buying it. Everyhandheld needs a good (or at least decent) strat RPG.
Holy pee hole. Sold.
I never played the original, but I thought it looked great. Interest +1.
Yeah, I'll be getting this. I thought the first (And second) games looked good, but I don't use my PS2 enough anymore. <_< A PSP version, however, would be excellent.
New Flonne Adventures or bust.
NO SALE.
I think its great that it'll go handheld so that mindless leveling up won't feel like a chore when you're in public transit or something.Quote:

I can't sit and play this at home. Way too repetitive. Unfortunatley, I love the characters, so this is perfect. Tedium passes time and games like this belong on portables!
Agreed. I mean, I don't want to retread 100+ hours on this. There's a point where you get burned out on the game. But it's a great idea for those who don't want to play ebay prices for the PS2 version and never played the game.

Actually, Nippon Ichi is promising several new dungeons with some surprise characters (no idea who), new voices, and exclusive scenarios. There's also supposedly some secret addition to the U.S. version if it ever comes out, but I don't know what that would be either. I'm just looking at a promotional brochure.
It's probably not NIS's generosity gene kicking in. Since it's a port, they *have* to include at least 30% extra content in order to release it in NA.
So the new cutscenes in Valkyrie Profile constituted 30% new content? I call BS.
Apparently exceptions can be made at the almighty Sony's sole discretion of course. Certainly when a re-released HTF PS1 game ported to PSP could springboard sales of an upcoming PS2 title.
I never played the original so I may pick this up.
And I do agree to an extent that this style of game is much better suited to portable play
Ad-hoc multiplayer and a whole new campaign with Etna as main character. If I liked N1 games I'd be stoked.
Give me Flonne or give me death.
Etna is pretty rad, though. Looks like I will buy and play through this game yet again.
So they finally announced it for over here?
Good. I can't play SRPGs on counsels, I don't have the patience. Been waiting for this since...well, since I first saw this thread.
Is Disgaea, a much better game than La Pucell?
I've only played LP and I wasn't that impressed with it. I still have Disgaea sitting in my pile of shame.
It's better. Not like by leaps and bounds, but definitely an improvement.
