So I'm trading in [eM] at gamestop while it's still 30 bucks and I'm wondering what to get. I'm thinking the best way to roll this is to buy some cheap shit used to fuck around with then keep returning them within 90 days for the full ammount in store credit. It's like free renting which ends with me picking up GoW.
My question is which of these three titles do I try out first:
Amped
THAW
Tomb Raider
I'd just be playing to kill time and get some achievements.
If THAW is fun I'll give it a shot for the price of free.
OT: I'm surprised that MS allows you to get achievements from rentals. If they limited the achievements to the first person to use that particular disc online, it could hurt the used game market and help new sales.
Tomb Raider is 25 bucks at BB this week.
I'm thinking of picking up Ridge Racer 6 too.
I hope you don't enjoy shopping at that gamestop, cause they will cut you off indefinately if you keep returning used games for full refund. Seeing as you have to give you drivers license info for returns, they can usually figure it out after the second return... unless the manager there is an idiot or just doesn't care.
I personaly wouldn't care, hell I did it back in the day myself, but some managers and regional managers take that shit very seriously. Just a warning. Like I said, if you don't give a rats ass about the store, then continue as you wish.
I used to do it when I worked there too.
I doubt these guys would give me any shit. I had to return Mech Assaults and 007's like three times between three stores in one day when I modded my xbox and no one seemed to care. Besides, I'd probably only get one or two exchanges out of it before I used the credits towards a new game or one that I decide I want to keep.
I need a racer. I figured it was a good start.
PGR3 is totally unfun for me so maybe I'll wait till Burnout Revenge goes down in price (It'll be my first Burnout really)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted is pretty good.
If you don't want your friends to get fired, don't talk about what they do at work online.
Use me and my old EB story for reference.
Even if this doesn't apply to the current situation, please think about what you want to post here or anywhere online.
I should really play PGR3.
Please do! I got the game last week and no one on my friend's list plays it anymore (damn you Texas Hold'em!).
I've not had one yet either.
No DREs, but the last couple of times I've played it I've been getting hung up on loading one are to another. Don't know what that's all about, but it's annoying.
Ah well, beat it the other day with the True Ending on my first real attempt. It's a great game, and I've started my second play-through to rescue people. Wasn't there supposed to be a one-week version unlocked, though?

If you beat overtime mode you should have unlocked infinity mode.
Clean up your hard drives folks! MS is hooking us up again! From 1up:

Microsoft Brings TGS and X06 to Live
After the sucess of their E3: Bringing It Home campaign (which offered downloads for users who couldn't attend the now-defunct trade show), Microsoft has decided to give this week's Tokyo Game Show and next week's X06 conference in Barcelona the same "bringing it home" treatment.
Beginning this Wednesday, Sept. 20 and concluding next Friday, Sept. 29, Microsoft will be making new playable game demos and videos and behind-the-scenes footage available from its upcoming lineup of titles. New footage is expected from Call of Duty 3, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, Forza Motorsport 2, Kane & Lynch, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Need for Speed Carbon, Project Sylpheed, Shrek 3 and Viva Pinata.
Additionally the press release promises new video footage (remember, Microsoft didn't tell you before E3 that they were doing a Halo 3 teaser, so expect some surprises showing up on Live, too) and Microsoft promises "There will also be a brand new Xbox Live Arcade title launch each week, one at Tokyo Game Show and one at X06, including a never before announced major franchise making its way onto Xbox Live Arcade." Hmm, what could this new XBLA franchise be?
Plenty of titles that Microsoft knows are important aren't listed on the press release they sent out. Where's Mass Effect? What about Gears of War? And wasn't Crackdown supposed to ship this year? It's a safe bet that Microsoft has something planned for each of these games at either X06 or TGS, but will their plans involve bringing something to your Xbox 360? We hope so. What about Halo 3? Microsoft definitely has a a few surprises in store for X06.
"Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom" -- I really hope this turns out well. The first two were solid.
Shit, so we get something awesome Wednesday from XBLA?
Could be chux, could be.
Must...get...360...fixed.
Worms World Party would fucking rock my ass off.
If you click on "a major franchise" it takes you to an article from March about Hudson considering porting Saturn Bomberman to XBLA.
if thats a 2d worms game, ibtn
I have my money on it being a fighting game. SF2 broke all sorts of records.
Killer Instinct FTW
BTW, if Viva Pinata gets a demo I'll be playing that for the next month until GoW comes out.
Dig Dug coming to XBLA. I hope that's not the major franchise.
Dig Dug was already announced (I <3 Dig Dug)
Oh please yes... as mentioned, Worms World Party would be amazing... I have it for the DC, but online play would be awesome as I never got to do it on my dreamcast (didn't have dial up)... But Saturn Bomberman would also be sweet as hell... if it's either of those two we win. In reality, it will be a huge disappointment and I'll probably still end up getting whatever it is... I <3 XBLA
Worms World Party would indeed be the dog's bollocks.
I doubt it will be Bomberman, as Hudson wouldn't want to potentially cannibalize sales of Act Zero so soon after it's release (what sales? lol).
...Watch it be Tekken 1 or something.
Tekken 1 sucks, but it has this completely bizarre feature that I've never seen in another fighting game.
Player 1 has about 15 seconds in the beginning of each round to fuck with the camera angle, including enabling an overhead view. WTF?
Moonbase Commander > Worms
Samurai Shodown 2 please.
Who's getting the Vision today?
I want camchats and I want them now.
PS - Chux keep the wang away pls.
I forgot that I preordered that.
Maybe I'll pick it up today, and maybe I'll wait until next paycheck. (the 28th)
I guess we'll see.
Good Luck finding it, I went shopping around since I got off early today.
To no avail.
This is sad news, I'll peep around stores on the way home anyway.
Word on the street is check Toys R Us.
If anyone cares, MS announced at TGS that with upcoming update, Xbox 360 will support 1080p for movies and games.
If the PS3 is choking on it, I doubt the xbox 360 will. I love my 360, but lets be real.
New content for the X06/TGS Bringing It Home thing so far:
Tenchu Senran trailer
New LotR: BfME II maps
TGS 2006 Gamer Pics (just the logo with different backgrounds)
There's a Tenchu demo on the jpn marketplace.
No, it's not. The PS3 can't, either, for about 99% of games. You may see a handful of games do it by the end of the generation, though. Gran Turismo 5 will probably run in 1080p (when it comes out late 2008). I'd rather they use the processing time to beef up the AI, though. lols.
Well apparantly they, they werent kidding. It's on majornelson.com
Half life 2 trailer is up.

REDMOND, Wash. — September 20, 2006 — Microsoft Corp. today announced the debut of Platinum Hits lineup for Xbox 360 software titles, available October 15 at retail locations in North America. The first wave of Platinum Hits games includes “Perfect Dark Zero” (Microsoft Game Studios), “Project Gotham Racing 3″ (Microsoft Game Studios), “Kameo: Elements of Power” (Microsoft Game Studios) and “Need for Speed Most Wanted” (Electronic Arts). The games will carry a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $29.99 USD.
The second wave of Platinum Hits arrives in spring of 2007 after launching worldwide this holiday, with titles varying by region. Europe, Asia, Latin America, Japan and Australia will all have Platinum Hits programs with lineups tailored for the specific tastes of gamers in those regions.
$30? Who'd pay $30 for Perfect Dark Zero or Kameo at this point? Wouldn't some places have to raise their price on the Platinum Hits versions for that to be right?
James
I want an HDMI adaptor to free up one of my two component slots for a Wii. I have two HDMI slots rotting here, I always thought the 360 had HDMI cables =(
Camera get today, btw.
Japan has a lot more stuff than we do... Some DOAX2 stuff too if people are interested. I'm getting the Tenchu demo now.
Most of the games that look really cool coming out for zboz are coming from Japan. What gives?
Tenchu looks like a regular zboz game.
About the 1080p thing I dunno if this is OFN to you guys but:
Microsoft announced starting this fall Xbox 360 will be able to support games and movies in 1080p. Xbox 360's HD-DVD movie playback function will also support 1080p. The first batch of titles supporting 1080p include:
Blue Dragon (Microsoft Game Studio)
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Capcom)
Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2 (Tecmo)
Trusty Bell (Namco Bandai)
So chances are lots of games can do it. Personally I have always thought that this is possible. The biggest difference is just how big of a framebuffer you need, and some games don't come close to taxing the Zboz's memory at 1080i. Remember, that's only (only, heh) 1920x1080. PC games have been running at 1600x1200 for a long time with lots of AA and high quality anisotropic filtering. Of course it's more than possible (but lame) if the real time cinematics (no AI, etc) are the only thing being displayed in 1080p...and if you have a projector or something that you manually have to change the resolution that would suck (as in GT4, lawl Sony).
1080p can be done through component cables.

They are?
Lost Planet looks cool. Can't think of anything else. I'll also say that if only by looks, i.e. visuals, then Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and a few others are really nice looking. There's, like, one game from Ubisoft that is nice looking too, but those are the only ones I've seen.
DOAX2 also.
Shut it.
Bioshock? Mass Effect? Gears of War?
Smackdown?
So yeah, TGS so far has been pretty dumb. I would have rather liked a new xbla game and none of this trailer garbage.
Nothing new, really. A lot of us bought the first Xbox at least partially for JSRF, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Ninja Gaiden.Quote:

TGS hasn't really started, they do the conferences days before the exhibition actually begins, just like E3.Quote:

Just curious, but how many people here would actually be able to use 1080p? I went for size rather than 1080p. It would have cost more than doublt to get the same tv in 1080p.
