I don't see what there is to be excited about. I'm more stoked about the fact that Dead Rising dropped to $39.99 @ Best Buy this week. I don't need another FPS.

I don't hate Lumines, I hate the pricing. But I guess you can't stop the on demand digitial world from coming. I'm wondering how long it'll be before we start seeing less and less in retail stores and more and more on demand. Bad news for shoppers, as far as I'm concerned.
Simple shit like this, I'd rather just turn on the console and buy, instead of running out to a store. Huge ass rpg's and what have you, I'll take a disc pls.
Good because gears of war isn't a FPS.Quote:
I don't need another FPS.
it's a 3rd person FPS, HA!
Think of what the fuck you just said.
Third Person First Person Shooter.
Does that make it a Fourth person shooter, or do we multiply so it stays at Third?
In 4D gaming, you shoot in the fourth person.
Anyway, I agree with Haoh and Strider, to be honest. Other than Gears, 360 really doesn't have anything this Christmas that I need to play. I mean, I'm sure R6V and CoD will be quality titles, but they're not a priority, with so many other more interesting games coming out, and knowing that they will almost undoubtedly be wholly derivative of their previous installments. Viva Piñata might be cool, I guess.
Next year, though, should be extremely good to the Zboz.
Just give me BioShock. That's all I'm asking for..That's all I'm asking for...
Sneak King demo is on XBL for download, go get 'em boyz.
i hope the waveracing part is as well done as it looks. i'm usually happy with the controls for team ninja games, though, so i'm not worried about it. doax2 looks really awesome with all the new little minigames they added. it was disappointing that the first one didn't have much in the way of minigames (still a great game, though).
i hope they add a ton of bathing suits. i remember when they were talking about it earlier there weren't nearly as many as in the first game.
All I want is a final date for mass effect, since that is the reason I want a 360. Cod3 and GOW are just a nice bonus as far as I'm concerned, mass effect looks like it could be the best game ever or at least the best looking. On the other hand I'm a stupid sci-fi fanatic so my view is slightly biased.
All a matter of opinion. Sure there have been better lineup, but I'm not made of money so it's all good to me.
I completely agree with you guys, Viva Piñata looks awesome.
AWESOME.
I paid 200 microsoft points (I guess that's $2.50 in human money) to max out my character in Tiger Woods today. How do you guys feel about that?
Traditionally, I coulda done it with a password (probably released in a month or two), or I coulda done it myself, and both of those methods are free. But, I didn't. I guess it's because I've been hardcore into Tiger Woods since '04 and I didn't want to work my way up from retarded trash ape to actual golfer AGAIN. I just wanted to play the damn season, and I want to be able to use my created character in offline multiplayer and have him actually hit the ball straight.
In all, I'm really glad they put that option in there. I know that with my ten hour work days, and lots of other fun games It'd be a really long time until I could max my guy out PLUS to improve your stats you have to play mini games (like 7, which is a game a lot like HORSE or whatever) against CPU opponents who take their sweet ass time hitting the ball.
There were also options to unlock/own everything in the pro shop for 300 points (I didn't), unlock all courses for 200 points (I did), and unlock Sunday Tiger Woods who is EXCLUSIVE to the Marketplace for 240 points (I didn't).
If you were Tiger Woods fans, what would you do? What if PSU gave you the option to start at level 10 or 20 and it cost 200-300 microsoft points? Would you do that? Are there any games/genres where you WOULD pay to progress?
ooh that game looks so cute!! with the little pinata animals and the funny-looking monsters and you can raise chickens or something.
i love nintendo's animal crossing, so i think i'll like this game, too. i have high hopes for viva pinata.
:) squeeeee!! it's so cute!!!
Most of these games look pretty solid. Gears of War, Lost Planet, Forza 2, Alan Wake, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and Bioshock all look like worthwhile games to me. I just don't see how you can really complain about the line up at al; especially compared to that of the PS3 or Wii.
I'm annoyed that the online aspect of Tiger Woods 07 costs an extra $2.50. I'll work my single-player golfer up the normal way, thanks to this being the first Tiger I've ever bought, but there's no way I'm taking my "real" character online when everyone I'll play against is completely maxed.
James
I would/will do the same thing. Fuck spending months and months just to be competitive with jobless idiots who can spend all day working on their characters. That was a really frustrating aspect of online play, coupled with lagging servers and cheats to get clubs that haven't been earned.
Online play is just Xbox Live, but seeing as you'll be playing against everyone in the world's maxed-out character, it might as well cost $2.50. There's no way you can take a character you've built up yourself online, they'd get crushed. So, if you want to compete, you've got to throw down the cash to get the maxed stats. It's not the same as online requiring a one-time $2.50 fee, but it's close enough that there's no difference.
James
I don't see how anyone can say "Fuck Gears of War. It's the same old shit," but say they are looking forward to Lost Planet. Judging from the videos, they're essentially the same type of game (shoot everything). Strip away the atmosphere and a couple of gameplay features (taking cover, grappling hook) and it's pretty much the same (again, judging from the videos).
Yeah, seriously. Even if the competition has a million zillion solid holiday titles and 360 has 3 or 4, their lineups are equal strength in my eyes considering that I can only really justify buying and devoting time to 3 or 4 new games for a system in a 2-month span anyway.
Tony Hawk Project 8 demo on the marketplace tomorrow bra.
Source.
Ohhhhhhhhh, please be a kick ass demo.
That 100GB looks extremely photoshopped. Hopefully it's true though.
Same thing for the 256MB card. I think it's just crappy slides meant to emphasize the point.
Tiger Woods is a big improvement on last years model. You STILL can't customize the controls (well, you can swap the sticks) but at least it put the powerboost/spin button on A as well as LB this year. You can switch to EAplay mode, which allows for precision aiming like in 2004/2005 but the default is some retarded "aiming circle" which made no sense to me, so I turned it off. Putting makes a lot more sense this year (with the addition of the loft stick) and feels a lot more natural. But they totally nerfed the character creator (relative to 2005 anyway, as I never played enough of that '06 piece of junk to go into my character editor) with there only being a total of 20 positive reactions, 20 negative reactions, and like 15 swings. I didn't even see a swing editor. :(
Put the game plays better than ever, and looks fucktons better than the old Xbox versions (although I see serious room for improvement). The achievements are achievable now as well.
If there was ever a game that needed to integrate that XBL Vision face mapping thing, it's this one. Big missed opportunity there. :(
There is also full ESPN integration (like in NBA Live) so you can listen to ESPN Radio podcasts as you play, get a sports ticker, etc.
I'm having some of the peeps over for some multiplayer tonight, so I'll let you know how that works out.
Katamari for the 360, anyone else seen something on that?
For once I agree with WTFer.
I'm not saying that it's on the way, or am I?*
*some signs point to it but don't get your hopes up
Some signs? Where are you getting this?
Someone at GAF posted a screenshot of a game entry on the Japanese XBL Marketplace, whose kanji was a match with that on the front of the Katamari Damacy box. The download within was titled 'test1'.
Fake.
Speaking of fake, the 100GB HD is fake just like I thought.

Did the Tony Hawk demo come out?
Tony Hawk Project 8 is up, and I'm just as shit at it now as I've ever been. I'll give them credit for making a good demo, though. No time limit and lots of stuff to do, plus it's under 350MB. Too bad the frame rate goes all stuttery now and then.
James
I'll try the demo; but after AW I really doubt I'm up for buying the game.
The Tony Hawk demo is really well put together, but there is a time limit (of fifteen minutes). I came away with a completely different impression though. It feels like they are focusing more on the levels and the challenges and less on stupid gimmicks. Just focusing on creating a solid series of levels to complement the solid mechanics the series has always had.
It looks a hell of a lot better than American Wasteland, at least. I did notice the frame stuttering, but I just mentally wrote that off as the product of non-final code. The new animation helps a ton (although does every game nowadays need a self-abuse ragdoll mode?), and the new gimmick looks stupid but adds more to the game than I initially thought -- there's some pretty neat (and difficult) stuff you can do with the custom tricks.
The game also finally has proper online intergration with online play and leaderboards and whatnot (the demo even has leaderboards, wtf).
They also turned up the difficulty of the top end of the game something fierce. I can't even dent some of these challenges on sick, and I could wtfpwn the shit out of the older Tony Hawk games (although I don't think you are meant to with a default skater).
If you never liked this series, this won't change your opinion of it at all. They do not do anything really new here, it just seems to be executed better than the last couple of THPS games. I haven't played one hard in a while, so I'll throw it on my Gamefly list and pick it up used down the line if I don't get sick of it.
I really like the Tony demo too, I like the direction they're taking in it now, cutting out all of the bullshit. Looks really good, controls well and like dipstick said it's a lot harder than the last games. I can't land a damn Nail the Trick yet though.
I also am on the Tony Hawk demo is awesome band wagon. Everything feels way more solid then it has since really THPS4. Pulling off tricks seems to be a little slower, which I feel gives it a slightly more realistic feel to it, but keeps the same awesome Tony Hawk feel that the games always have had.
I on the other hand had no problem with completing the Sick challenges. I destroyed the 35 trick Sick challenge on my second try once I realize what was going on.
It took me a little bit to get used to it, you just need to time when you let go of the sticks so that the grip tape is up. You can also transition to another spin when the trucks are up, but that's only for transitions to different tricks.
Rainbow 6 demo is up on every marketplace except in NA.
Logging into my japanese account.... :)
Singleplayer, my head hurts when I pan the camera around too much =/
Is it in english like Chromehounds was?
Just created a UK account. GakuseiUK from the House of Commons, bitches. :p
F Chan Desu Ne dl'd it from the J Marketplace
Crazyabobo from Germany. :D
Holy Shit! Repelling upside down on a vegas high rise, and shooting fuckers in the face.
Woah, this game is great. Totally makes up for the trash that is Lockdown. Its like a modern day Gears of War. Online play is going to be awesome. This, Call of Duty 3 and Gears of War are probably all going to rule online. I was kinda hoping 2 of them would suck online, but its not looking that way. D'oh!
Finished the demo, it's really, really great. Depending on the finances, Day 1.
The demo really is badass. This is some AAA shit right here.
JM
I'll download and play it later tonight.
Opaque Chan from Japan FTW.
I hate games with fucking motion blur from turning. It's the most unrealistic and game ruining mechanic out there imo.
I probably won't play Vegas unless they tone it down a little; I mean CoD3 and GoW don't have it, so I can just play those instead.
How bad are your eyes and how slow is your brain?
I can follow what's going on around me when I turn my head irl; crazy ass motion blur like this is ridiculous.
Fuck that demo...leaving me wanting the real game. How dare they!
Day one for me. I'm completely addicted to Nail the Trick.
The one strange thing is that now it makes much more sense to play the game with the Left Analog stick as opposed to the D-Pad. This is what I now have to get used to...
What is this new trend in motion blur? I cant stand that shit. It looks like total ass. I want nice smooth clean crisp graphics. Keep it like Call of Duty 2.
WTF is up with releasing Gears, Tony 8 and Call of Duty 3 in the same week? I don't know what I'm going to do.
I'd never be able to play 3 games at once, not my style. Gears is more original so I'm going for that over CoD3. When and how I get TH8 is the real question.
Any of you other kids notice the Viva Pinata interactive video on market place? It's in demos and I'm downloading it right now.
Man, I can't sign on to Xbox Live for some reason.
Downloading the Viva Pinata thing now, but it worries me. It's got the tv series crap in it, and the farther away that stays from the game the happier we'll all be. Plus it's 755MB. But I'm looking forward to the game and not doing anything else with the 360 tonight, so why not?
James
It's hardly an interactive demo. You just get to choose which character tells you stuff about the game.
The Viva Pinata series is fucking awesome. Stop hating. The game looks like it will be really fun, if only because it's so damn colorful.
Also, the GoW commercial they have on market place is the best video game commercial ever.
After the HALO 2 commerical, which to this day I maintain has a better story than the full retail release.
So it seems that MS is giving gold live subscribers first chance at marketplace downloads like the new GoW ad. A week or so later silver members will be able to download it. Some people are up in arms about it but MS said they were going to do it back at E3 2005. Since I have a gold membership I can't say I mind.
So freeloaders are crying that they aren't getting the same treatment as people paying for a service?
Welcome to the real world.
I DLed that GoW trailer at lunch and it was done in no time. Easily 3-4 times as fast as previous trailer downloads I've done. I could get used to that.
Who the fuck has Silver, anyway?
How about we just add a space marine with a chainsaw bayonet?
Seriously, the game looks far more original in terms of gameplay and visuals then anything else slated to come out for the system in the next few months. While not a game I will buy on Day One™, I am definitely looking forward to playing something this holiday that isn't another shooter or RPG.
Not with Gears of War and FFXII both coming out within a week of the games release. My wallet is going to be hurting in November, for serious.
I guess something is going on with Xbox stuff in my area because I can't get onto Live nor does xbox.com load up for me on my computer.
The Fall Dashboard update is coming tomorrow! Just in time for the wireless headset. Check out some of the additions.
Some highlights:
1080p support, ability to use the wireless headset and HD-DVD drive, numerous changes to XBLA and the abilty to play media off of a CD-R, DVD-R and flash drives and stream WMV files without a Windows Media Edition PC. About 80 changes total.
<3 zboz
It'll be nice not having to wait for your XBLA list to populate so you can play the game you want. I'm glad that they are listening to their consumers, unlike the other companies.
