At Target in Elyria Ohio, I had to call for something else so I asked for my ohio TNL peeps.
Edit: Nevermind, after telling me I could come in and buy it, his manager got on the phone and said Jan 22 :(

I'd imagine everyone has by now. Stupid release dates.
So I walk into Walmart today. and lo' and behold, BP is on the shelf, behind the glass.
I ask the employee to get a game out of the case, I walk over with him, point to it and he goes "Ah nah, we can't sell that yet, they musta put it out early or somethin"
... fuck
(i maybe could have complained to someone and gotten it, or waited around for a different, clueless employee, but I was kind of in a rush)
I feel dirty in walmart, I only stay as long as needed then I get out asap.

I experience a similar sensation when I stumble into one of Biff's threads.
I still have my preorder on the PS3 version, but I'm not sure if I'm actually going to get it. The demo has convinced me that single-player is going to be a waste, but I held out hope that multiplayer might save the game.
However, I've seen three reviews come out (IGN, 1UP, and GameSpy), and none of them have truly addressed how multiplayer races are handled. I want to know if you're in an 8-player game, and you drive to a hot spot to start a race, do you have to wait for 7 other people to join you at the hot spot before you begin (and if so, what happens if one guy gets lost on the way), or can you "teleport" the other players directly to the starting line (and if so, why can't we have this convenience in single-player)?
I'm also concerned by the absolutely brilliant decision by the wizards at Criterion to remove Road Rage mode from multiplayer (according to 1UP review). First they yanked Crash mode completely (and replaced it with a Showtime mode with busted physics), then we learn they dumped multiplayer Road Rage in favor of a bunch of esoteric "challenges" that have no apparent reward.
Take for example the two-player challenge on the demo where each player has to bust 6 billboards (for a total of 12 between the two players). It took my friend and I nearly a half hour to complete this, mainly because he had trouble finding and smashing the last 3 billboards. Yet we still persevered, eager to see what would happen. What did we get for finally accomplishing this daunting task? A text splash saying "you did it" on the screen. At least all that effort could've unlocked a new car, or a new paint job, or something else cool like that (even if the reward was only accessible in the full game). To play for a half hour with just "you did it" on the screen was an insult.
Another challenge in the demo asked one player to line up his car in a gap between two ramps, then the other player would jump over him. That was cool and not difficult at all...but couldn't that have been done just as easily in the single-player mode? After all, there's no direct interaction between the players...after the first player gets situated, he's just a passive observer while teh second player accomplishes the stunt.
I feel there's so much more they could have done with multiplayer. I would have loved a cooperative Road Rage game, where a friend and I could take down a whole team of computer-controlled opponents. Or maybe a multiplayer "King of the Hill" mode (like the Tony Hawk games), where one player is the "king" and has to evade the other players as long as possible; if someone gets a takedown on him, then he becomes the new "king" and other players pursue him. Marked Man (in single-player) seems a lot like this, but unfortunately there's no multiplayer Marked Man mode either. Just great.
All of the online reviews so far have done a swell job of mentioning the technical successes of the online setup, but none of them have really focused on the actual gameplay. I'm well aware that it's easy to set up an online session by tapping the joypad a few times, and that you can plug in a USB camera. However, if it's not fun to play over an extended period of time, then I don't want to bother with it.
