LOL, glad I was not the only one who had the impression.

Got a 250 gig WD SATA drive for 50 just now.
Split the cost of a DVD burner (external) that I can use with my MacBook, and for my dad to use when I'm home. Decent labor day sale on it, $80 plus a rebate for some $15 or so.
Got a new Wireless G router (with Speedbooster!) from Linksys on sale today. Everything is running smoothly, I just need to check my 360 and punch in my new XBL card subscription.
Got some CDs from Circuit City (AFI, Buckcherry, Breaking Benjamin, ect) all CDs are 9.99 today.
Oh and a wireless gaming adapter for my PS2 (for when Phantasy Star Universe comes out).
Picked up suikoden tactics, I've heard nothing about the game but it looked good enough for 10$. Plus it comes with it's soundtrack and I'm one of those tools who actually listens to game music.
I got a 50 pack of CDrs for 4.99 at Circuit City. None of the damn stores around here (CC, Best Buy, Target, Walmart) would break street date on Lost though, which made me sad. :(
I want to play with friends and none of them have a X360 yet. Since the X360 version does not work with the PC ad PS2 versions it won't do me any good (unless I buy them all X360s |-) ). So I am going with the PS2 and PC version, accounts are swappable like FF:XI so as long as I have the software I can play it on my PC or PS2.
Prepaid for Okami at Gamestop and got a Yakuza demo too.
Just got back from a local record store with the new Audioslave CD. Heard nothing about it so hopefully it's a bit more in tune with the first CD. *-neo

Mail man delivers priority mail on holidays! Hooraaaay! Not that i'll even get a chance to play it in the next... month or three. Try to play one of these days. Not like Makai Kingdom... or Phantom Brave... or Atelier Iris 2... or Generations of Chaos. ;___; I think the original Disgaea and Atelier Iris are the only N1-published/developed games i've ever put any time into.
If you make time for GoC, make sure it's a lot of time. It's a really cool game, but I tried to get into it at the end of last semester, and holy crap. For one thing, it is the most newbie-unfriendly game I've ever played, and you need the PDF guide. The manual is useless. And a lot of the game is trial and error til you learn the ropes. But it is good! You just need to dig for it, and I didn't have the time. In fact, I don't even know anyone who has that much time. I feel like you need to make spreadsheets of data in order to play this game properly. Someday... someday...
But really, how good is Disgaea? I ask this because I have a copy I got for $5 and it's still factory sealed and I could be making a lot on eBay on it. I doubt it's $95+ worth of profit good, but I know it's gonna bother me that I've never played it. I guess I'll play the PSP version or something, I dunno.
The original? I played all the way to the end and then some, that's how good. I never finish games. Also, will pick up the psp version. Just sell it and get a used copy if the PSP version is somehow awful. I think i sold it for $65 a few months ago, to a guy who works for EA and did some character work for Stranger's Wrath, interestingly enough.
For those of you getting Lost: Season 2 today, it seems like $37.99 is the going price, but you have different deals at the 3 majors.
At Circuit City, I think you get a 10 dollar itunes card.
Best Buy gives you a bonus disc.
And IIRC Target gives you a $5 gift card.
I'm with Best Buy.
The bonus disc is the recap episode, I'm with Circuit City.
$130 Travel Reimbursement Check from my work for going to training.
I hate the new Criterion look. Going to pick this up today:

A couple things to start out the month:
Einhander- Found it for 25 bucks at Gamestop in great condition.
Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins- Ultimate mode will make anyone cry. The game is loads of fun, though.
Also got Tekken 5 with the arcade stick for only 30 bones. The stick is decent. Bigger than I thought it would be, too.
For those wondering, the CC thing for lost is $10 off an iTunes card, not just a flat out $10 card.
I got Dead Rising. Time Pilot. Pac Man. Galaga. Frogger and the dual 2.16 Macbook Pro.
All you bitches can suck my asshole.
http://www.ebgames.com/common/images/lbox/200181b.jpg
I don't know why I did it either.
Because it's rad.
If it's not I'll blame you.
Also the guy at Gamestop who tricked me into getting it.
HA HA!
I honestly meant this when I wrote it...
Anyway, today I bought:
FFXII Leather Bound guide (no pic)

And, if Best Buy gets it in, tonight will bring me the simple joys of Loco Roco.

Condemned: Criminal Origins (£18)

Thank God for ajinryu. This page of this thread was starting to make my eyes tilt.
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...V62358544_.jpg & http://ec3.images-amazon.com/images/...V62614690_.jpg
Both of 'em from amazon for $28 shipped.
One of the first games I'll be getting along with Loco Roco, & Gitaroo Man Lives!. How does it square up to the other games in the series? And also, do I need to get my hands on one of those D-Pad packs for the PSP to play Judgement? I hear the standard pad is poor for beat em ups.
FYI the bonus disc is a lot more than just the recap episode.
- Lost Flashbacks: New Flashbacks
- The Official Lost Connections: Shocking character connections are uncovered in this exclusive immersive experience
- Secrets from the hatch: Go inside to discover "The Swan"
- Mysteries, Theories, and Conspiracies: The Virgin Mary Statues, Alvar Hanso, and Snow Globes - The Truth Revealed
- Lost on Location: An All-access pass to the set
- Fire+Water: An episode from concept to conception
- Deleted Scenes, Bloopers and More!
EDIT: Fuck. That's all written on the back of the bonus disc for some reason, but the actual bonus disc content is:
Bonus Episode "Reckoning"
Bonus Lost on Location
Bonus Deleted Scenes
So, yeah. But, it's still more than nothing. I didn't need 10 dollars off an itunes card, and I guess a $5 dollar Target card would've been about equivalent to this.
Fryes FTW.
That's cool, I want it to. But I don't $60 want it. But if you're a big balla like Morphix, than whatever.

and

Both hemispheres of my music loving soul are extremely happy right now. Although the audioslave album came with a bonus DVD and I don't see which way to open it without cracking the case in 2.
I put in maybe 5 minutes tops so far and I'm going out in a few, but I'll post impressions later. Haven't touched Judgment, but Slash LOOKS like it's as good of a port as #R is, from a glance. The sprites look great zoomed in as usual, but there appears to be some kind of anti-aliasing effect when it zooms out. #R for PSP didn't have that. Music volume seems lower, but I can probably adjust that. It's more of a Slash problem than a Judgment problem, but the UI is kinda lame too. I miss the XX/#R one already.
Also, the d-pad on PSP is fine for the GG games. Seriously. I've never had trouble with the inputs. Potemkin Busters come out on the first try. It's not an issue.
That's all for now.
I played it finally for 2 hours and never want to touch it again.
owned.

Logitech MX518 Gaming Grade Mouse to go with my Michael Knight Keyboard that I ordered
http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/...8030b010.L.jpg
i've had that mouse for a long time.. pretty slick.. the cord gets kind of crazy at the connection point sometimes.. and the weights ejects at random times when kicking ass all over a server.. but otherwise it's ace.
HGM's October issue arrived, and I bought a $1 DVD at Wal-Mart with a bunch of Bugs and Daffy stuff on it. I nearly bought the History of the WWE Championship set today, but decided to wait until after I bought the Pillman set. They also had a Spanish 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea cartoon that I nearly bought because it was... a Spanish 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea cartoon.
Son of a Bitch, why didnt they make these in the US?
Lost Season 2 + best buy bonus disk
http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/...8030b010.L.jpg
- Oblivion with Horse armor DL
- NBA 2K6
- Project Gotham Racing 3
- Time Pilot (XBLA)
- Frogger (XBLA)
- Uno (XBLA)
360 FTW!
The 518 doesn't have weights. That was the next one. Dunno what the number was but it was the first one that was a laser. I'm using the exact same mouse now. It does kick lots of ass. Its nice to be able to adjust the sensitivity on the fly. Indispensible for FPS's.
I gots me one of these today:

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...056723919_.jpg
5 bucks brand new from a local bookstore. I've only seen clips from it but I'm pretty sure it's off the hook. Now I can make all sorts of goth friends.
Shit Haoh... thats pretty bad ass. How much?
I think the Kino version has the colored tinting that was intended for the film, if it's the version I'm thinking of, it's awesome. Enjoy it, it's a great looking film. So great looking, in fact, that Tim Burton decided to bite its style (well, and that of other German Expressionist films, I guess) for his entire career!
For those who haven't seen it and are interested, you can watch or download it at http://www.archive.org though the Kino version (asssuming it's the one I'm thinking of) is the one to watch, in terms of proper speed and the tinting. Still, it's worth checking out if you've never seen it. What the hell else were you going to do with the next hour? Watch it. Seriously.
Well, if you really care about playing the newest version of GGXX, you'd want the Japanese GG Judgment for Slash anyway, but if you have a modded PS2 I don't see why you'd buy the PSP version. So far, the port of Slash appears to at least be as good as PSP #R, though it would help if I've logged any large amount of time into the PS2 or arcade versions of it. I'm still not familiar with a lot of the changes yet.
I'm not sure how I feel about the anti-aliasing for the scaling, either. Not sure if you can turn it off, either, but I'll check. Haven't played Judgment mode yet, but I can almost guarantee you that it won't be worth the price tag if you're not too worried about Slash. Though, the Asian version is entirely identitical to the Japanese version, and it's $10 cheaper. The only thing you're missing out on, that I've noticed, is the CERO rating on the front of the box.
I'll bump the GG Judgment thread, assuming we have one, tomorrow with some impressions when I get into it... which will be right when I get off the computer.
Couldn't really tell you. I got an "Asian" DC too back in the day, perfectly compatible with Japanese games, exact same hardware. The stuff comes from Hong Kong but it's legit. I assume the only explanation would be that their prices for games are closer to ours, rather than the astronomical shit Japanese people have to pay for CDs, DVDs, games, etc. The "foreign" versions of CDs from a lot of Japanese artists are a lot cheaper, too. The stuff they export to other parts of Asia, I guess.
The only thing that would have told me this wasn't Japanese, other than the lack of CERO rating (and I do love their little descriptor pictures) is the region 3 logo on the back of the box and the blurbs in Chinese near the bottom of the box, specifying that all text and spoken dialogue in the game is in Japanese. Supposedly sometimes these versions include Chinese manuals, but nope, this is the Japanese manual, full color and all.
Crazy.
I watched the Kino version of Nosferatu several moons ago and enjoyed it.Quote:

Looks like I got the shit title cards but at least there's an option on what score to listen to.
200 beans. :)
Advice: check your local Craigslist under "electronics" often.
My old roommate had some batshit insane VHS copies of a lot of silent movies given ridiculous synth soundtracks in the 80s. I imagine a lot of said versions are hard to find info on/hard to come by, and he expressed interest in making digital copies, and I told him I'd help out. Considering the massive number of stalled projects the both of us have undertaken as of late while struggling to graduate, I dunno how likely it is that we'll make any progress on this, but if you're interested, I'll let you know. One version of Phantom of the Opera I've seen was incredibly bizarre, I'll have to check if he has the one, I know he and I have talked about it before.
Speaking of which, have you seen the version of Phantom they did with surviving pieces of the soundtrack from the talkie verison? Heard it was interesting, though I don't really know if that's the good or bad kind of interesting.
I think I have on of those for matrapolis
It is different game to game. Most of the time they are identical, they just slide in a extra insert with the controls explained in English. Sometimes you get a different version of the game, IIRC some NeoGeo pocket games where like that, you got the cool hard box of a Japanese game but the black and white instructions and English game cart.
So the US version of GG:Judgment doesn't game with Slash?
In a trade...
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lbox/190281b.jpg
I never played it on PS1, so I am hoping to be wowed.
I think I have realistic expectations, since I am not a JRPG fan. If it whips Final Fantasy VII-X, I'll be quite happy with it, and that wouldn't take much.
Well the system in VP is pretty unique and I like it, moreso than the classic FF-based pilgrimage progression.
The only thing you'll hate about it is the long melodramas each character has. Sometimes, they're just too long. (you'll see with Yumei)
Nope, US version has #R again. I played a fair amount of Judgment mode last night, it's way better than boost mode in Isuka, but I think being stabbed to death might be better than boost mode in Isuka. I'm gonna play it til I unlock everything, but I don't know how fun it's really going to be. The enemy variety is still pitiful and I don't expect it to get any better.
I like Slash, though!
I'm picking this up after work.
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lbox/281522b.jpg
went trolling for Summon Night, but couldn't find it. Picked this up instead for $9.99. Not even gutted yay!
Lost Season 2 and Supernatural Season 1 on DVD
2nd week in a row Gamestop has not gotten the new release in. Last week was excusable because there was a tropical storm (even if it hardly rained because of it) but why this week? I don't think it is too much to expect games to be ready for me to pick up when they call me the night before sating they will be in stores by noon. Why even bother preordering, Circuit City and Best Buy will have them out later this afternoon.
Well gives me time to finish Enchanted Arms before I start Yakuza.
I especially love the little Sonic hanging on your rear view mirror. Rad Mobile rocked.
Picked up:
Flavor of Love Season 1-The guiltiest of guilty pleasure.
The Wicker Man-The remake sucked balls but I heard the orginal was pretty good
Picked up South Park Season 8. It's the first season I've got on dvd.
Holy lol, you bought an Aerosmith album.
I don't ever want to hear another word out of your fat mouth about "taste".
lol.
lol.
lol.
I'd comment on how Yoshi's taste sucks but I just bought [eM].
Wow. I can't believe I am actually seeing people hate on Aerosmith. You guys have no taste in any form of media, do you?
I have Compass pegged as a Bette Midler fan. "His" favorite movie is probably Fried Green Tomatoes.
What's wrong with Fried Green Tomatoes?
Jessica Tandy FTW!
 Doubting my gender is such a compliment, you have no idea.
Anyway, what's Aerosmith got to do with movies? I've never seen Fried Green by the way, and strongly dislike Bette Midler. I do like romantic movies in general, though. Indecent Proposal, now that was a tear jerker. One of my faves.
1. that album sucks ass.
2. compass has worse taste in games than markryan.
They've got like 4 good songs. 3 of which are guilty pleasures.
Britney's "Oops, I Did It Again" is actually pretty good. I was working on this mix a few years ago where I was playing "Lucky" over this Boards of Canada song. It sounded pretty bad ass.
this month = wallet rape. Thankfully, birthday + eBay sales are helping out. I forgot the Gojira DVD is out now, too... good thing, because I would have wasted even more money today. Also, Cooking Mama is gonna be a budget title, right? Right? I hope so.
http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lbox/281524b.jpghttp://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lbox/281522b.jpg
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...V57174230_.jpg
Yeah, 20 bucks for Cooking Mama.
And no, I've never watched the Lon Chaney Phantom. I've got a lot of catching up to do when it comes to silents.
It's the MX1000. $80 retail is steep (but worth it), you can easily get it cheaper online though. In the $50s from amazon.com and newegg.com, heh. It's damn nice. Tons of buttons, too many buttons even, I had to go and turn some off, but it's a great mouse. Really comfy, though my hands are still used to my Mouseman Dual Optical, and I'm sure they will be for a while. I was considering something much cheaper, but the rechargable part is what got me. I know that AAs last a long time in wireless mice, but I'd be pissed if I was stuck without some when it died.
I bought the Snatch superbit for 6 dollars or so shipped on the Amazon Marketplace.
If it sucks I get to punch Regus in the rocks.
That metal box for Dead Rising looks awsome :eep:
New anime for the week:
Gankutsuou vol 6
Macross TV Series vol 5
Nanaka 6/17 vol 3
Zipang vol 1
Fullmetal Alchemist vol 13
Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie
Already watched Gankutsuou, great show, and I think I'll watch the FMA movie tonight and to see how the dub turned out :D
A Wacom Intuos 6x11 Tablet. Can't wait to get it.

Nice, how much is that tablet?
