Anyone interested in PlayStation 3?
Only if it worked in 4D.
This thread sucks.
Yeah.
Like the PS3 will.
...and BlueRay does.
Not really interested right now. I might be in a few years when it's a lot cheaper and there's some good greatest hits titles. Resistance looks fun.
I'll pass on this one at launch. Once the games start hitting their stride and I have a HDTV, then it would be worth it.
That's basically what I said about the 360.
I still don't have one.
Also, what's with saying "Oh, I'll just wait until after I have an HDTV" like it's nothing? Cripes, what a big investment... and buying a $400-600 console on top of it?
Man, it's no wonder I haven't been playing games lately.
I'll be getting one eventually, but screw launch. I could justify $400 for the 360, barely, by paying off my reserve in bits and pieces over a period of months, but $600 is just too much for a console with as weak a launch as the PS3 looks to have. I'll get one eventually, and probably be quite happy about it, but no hurry.
James
since i just got back and havent caught up yet, did you guys see (and mention) how the initial shipment of 4 million is expected to be only 2 million? lol.
I was so sure I was getting a PS3 at launch until I came to my senses and realized that every game worht owning at launch and near future is coming out for 360 as well. I'll be going the wii60 route thank you very much.
PS3 looks like shit right now. If it was 400 or less it would look awesome.
I blame Sony.
I was, but not so much anymore. I'll probably stick to Wii60 as well.
On one hand I hope it does very well (which it will, depending on what your definition of 'very well' is).
On the other hand, I hope no one buys the thing.
neddless to say, $1200 ps3 systems on ebay will be a standard.
Atrocious.
I'll think about getting one with MGS4 is out.
i'll be getting a PS3 and a Wii on launch day.....that is all.
Has there been an announcement as to what the launch line up is going to be yet? The last time I heard about PS3 games was at E3 and those all seemed like "Sometime in the lifespan of the console" type games.
I think more than anything, I'm too excited about Wii, DS, and PS2 stuff to buy a PS3. Hell, even the 360 I kind of regret since the only games I really love on it at games I could have played on my PC.
Xbox Live Arcade in general is what actually got me to pluck down the cash for the 360, to be honest. That and Blue Dragon & wanting to play Phantasy Star Universe on a next gen system (Although Sega fucked that up by not letting it be compatible with the PS2 and PC versions, so hell to that on 360). I'm very interested to see how Sony & Nintendo are going to compete with Microsoft in the downloadable game market. I'm hoping for downloadable games that I can also play on my DS/PSP. That would be extremely ace.
You can buy a widescreen 720p HDTV at Wal-Mart for less than $400. That cash is nothing to sneeze at, for sure. But you don't need to buy a 1080p set for $3000.
Looking at the launch games and even spring releases, I see almost no game worth owning that I couldn't get for my 360. Sony really blew it by having 90%-95% of their launch games being multi platform. The only thing that could remotely make the system unique is their e-distribution, but who knows how that is going to turn out. I'll maybe plunk down the cash once some good exclusives come out and the few games worth buying at launch have dropped in price.
Please post the release schedule, I have no clue whats about to be released except for Motorstorm and Resistance at launch and VF5 in spring.
There is no release schedule, other than vague promises of "launch window" and "Q1 '07". Sony's probably saving up to shoot their wad at TGS.
I wouldn't mind blowing $600 if the PS3 launch situation was even mildly rosy, but it isn't. They can't manufacture enough BluRay lasers, and their chip yields were so atrocious they actually downgraded the PS3's specs to avoid throwing away so many chips. The launch PS3s are going to complete shit quality-wise, even by Sony's lousy standards.
omg marwan's back. I didn't even realize he'd be unbanned.

PS3 won't be coming with an HDMI cable for the 600 dollar version, you'll need to belt out another 40 dollars for it.
Which reminds me, how many of this 2 million launch number will be the PS3 retard pack?
So 640 for the high end system. lawl
Because it's fun to hear (see?) you and your ilk go apeshit
Not having HDMI out, no hard drive, and no way to upgrade the system sounds like a retard pack to me.
What Joust said.Quote:
And hey guys, if you simply have no interest in PS3 what so ever, why do you continue to make up the majority of posts in the official PS3 thread?
Corrected, I forgot that it comes with a smaller HD instead.
I'll buy one when that good FF13 mosey's along. For now, no.
I have no interest in the ps3 or 360 and if the wii didn't have a nifty controller I wouldn't care about it either. And honestly the wii is piss poor in the tech department, I'm pretty close to just saying fuck the next gen and sticking with my ps2 and ds for a few more years.
There's no way that this won't have an awesome selection of games come the end of its lifespan, so I'll probably buy one after a few price drops.
Instead of in the second half of the lifespan like the PS2.
So you won't get a 360 which has awesome games but you will get a console because it has a shit controller?
The 360 has no awesome games I've seen or at the least ones I care about. And really the wii doesn't either save maybe trauma center and few other games. Ok that's not really fair fight night and oblivion are great and all but I don't like them enough to do anything more than rent them let alone buy a system for them.
no, make that $605.
HDMI cables can be had for $5 at monoprice
http://www.monoprice.com/products/se...d=hdmi&x=0&y=0
did you bitch at the SNES,DC,PS,PS2....for not having a S-VHS cable?
please quit whinning, most people dont have TVs with HDMI anyways.
Most people still have fishbowl tvs and hook up all of their shit via composite.
(SNES came packed-in with a S-VHS cable)
All of the 16 bit consoles came with composite, except for TG-16, which came with RF.
My SNES came with an RF.
Mine came with both. And it was a launch console.
S video definitely was NOT a pack in cable. Isn't it true that the second model Snes doesn't even support S-video?
That is making the assumption that that cable will work, which it won't. You know there's going to be some dumb proprietary connector to make you buy thier cables.Quote:

Sony needs to get on the ball with this, they failed to convince me to buy a PS2 (still don't have one, maybe when it hits $99. The games aren't going anywhere) and they've done nothing but show me all the reasons why I DON'T want a PS3.
With the PS3, there's really no reason to get one at launch unless a) you really want to play Resistance and Warhawk or b) you don't own a 360.
I heard that, despite our best efforts, Al Qaeda has gotten their hands on an early PS3 dev kit.
Early Genesis systems only came with RF.
Who wants to buy a crappy 5 dollar HDMI cable though? Not all cables are euqal (not that I'm endorsing Monster (-ously garbage) Cable)
Then spend 15. Monoprice fucking rules.
HDMI cable is not included with the non retard PS3 and Gamestop is taking preorders for them at $100! Not getting a HDMI cable isnt that bad, but my question is does it at LEAST come with component cables? Gamespot had the news if you want to check it out yourselves.
Is there any official word that Team ICO have anything in the works for the PS3? I'd be totally sold on the system if they had a couple of titles in the works.
Screw getting one at launch, or within the next two years though. The total lack of anything worthwhile, (Except MGS4, which even in my eyes doesn't warrant a system purchase), the total lack of a new pad, and the steep price tag put me right off.
I mean, how do they expect me to use the horrid Dualshock pad to play games like Resistance, or anything else remotely like it?
I remember before N64 came out there were rumors that it wouldn't include any cables at all to keep the price down. Of course it was BS. I hope PS3 comes with HDMI, but it has to have at least component. I will not believe otherwise until Sony says it officially since they can't possibly be that jewy.

PS3 delayed till March 07 for Europe.
Oh boy.
Haha, Europe once again gets the short end of the shit stick.
No, fucking hell >=(
First LAWL in response.
LAWL!
They just gave Europe away to Microsoft until mid-2007.
360 has done really poorly in Europe up to this point though. If MS really capitalizes on this, they could conquer Europe... but it's MS, so they're bound to blow it.
That includes Australia and New Zealand too.
LOL.
Spring release after all
im sure the premium PS3 will come with the component, while the cheaper $499 version will come with composite or S-VHS cables. Its all about cutting costs.
i'll be getting the $599 and use the component till i get a new TV with HDMI(46" Bravia LCD or Sharp Aquos with 1080p support....soon)
lol!
500,000 units at launch (400,000 in the US, 100,000 in Japan)
LAWWWWWWWL
Yes, file hosted @ www.alexgrantz.com indeed.
Fuck Alex Grantz. Now I have to not be lazy.
lawl ps3
This pretty much cements me not getting one at launch...el oh el
As if you guys knew how to run a business better than the guys at Sony. The 500k launch is intentional to increase demand for the PS3. It also reduces the amount of console-related losses, improving Sony's profitability in Q4.[/fanboy]
Those banking on everybody having Blu-Ray because everybody will own a PS3 have gotta be ticked.
I had a PS1 prior to this past gen and loved it. I was gonna get a PS2, then MS stuck a hook in my mouth with Xbox Live, even in its immature state at that time.
I'll get a PS2 eventually, but not til it hits $99. Like I said, the games aren't going anywhere.
Oh and L OfuckingL at 500,000 units for Japan and US. At least Sony recognizes where the real market is. Doesn't help that they've utterly pwned themselves for holiday '06 though.
Camping out at freaking midnight to spend $600 on a system with a lackluster launch line-up that may or may not work when you hit the power switch? No thanks.
400,000. Wow.
How much will PS3's be on ebay in December? My guess is $1000 easy.
IF, and this is a big IF, Bungie can get Halo 3 out by spring, PS3 is going to have a hard time getting a stranglehold on the market.
So by the end of the year the PS3 will have a userbase 400,000 strong while the ZBOZ is close to 4 or 5 million?
