Chain restaurants can go to hell.
Tonight I took the girl out to dinner (first time in a while) and we went to a fondue place. I went in thinking "damn I'm probably going to come out hungry". I couldn't have been more wrong. I ate basically nonstop for 2 1/2 hours; first, the cheese course (cheddar/beer/garlic sause with veggies, apples, and bread), then a nice salad; baby greens and spinach with a cranberry and gorgonzola sauce, then the main course; a little chicken, steak, shrimp, pork, duck, and ravioli. If you have never been to a fondue place, for this course it's not so much dipping, instead, you're given a pot of boiling seasoned liquid such as stock, wine, and herbs, and you cook each piece of meat in it individually, as well as some veggies. It's nice because every piece is cooked fresh. They had about 7 different sauces on the table, so it was easy to mix and match.
It was finished off with dessert; a pot of dark chocolate with pineapple, bananas, strawberries, graham crackers, little brownies, and marshmallows to dip in it.
It was definitely an enjoyable experience; just more expensive than a regular chain restaurant dinner. Judging by how much and how long I ate, though, I'd say that it was worth it.
Pork Roll Egg and Cheese on Bagel for Breakfast.
Ordered by Lunch already ... Company is paying.
Tuna Roll & Pork Chow Mein from local asian eatry Sultan Wok in Sayresville, NJ. Have yet to try them ... I hope they are good. I haven't had a good sushi roll since Chinatown in Philly.
Yeah, it was The Melting Pot. My girlfriend is the chocolate person between us, and she also chose s'mores, but I made her get it with dark chocolate instead of milk. My favorite part of the evening was probably the cheese; I'm a big cheese person, and it probably didn't help that all I had eaten yesterday up to that point was a Nutella sandwich.
Melting pot is great but overpriced.
